Why? Explain to me how it harms kids to see a gay couple, a trans person, or a cross-dresser. Keep in mind, we're not talking about sexually explicit material here. Just a gay couple acting the same way a straight couple would in a kids' movie. I'm not saying I like all of the things that the Right tries to cancel. I'm just saying their attempts always fail.

Hey! So we do agree on some things. Gender non-conformity is alright. We don't need to get triggered over men who wear dresses. Well Mulvaney isn't a cross-dresser. At least as far as we know. But either way, it'll be fine. Fascists have tried to cancel plenty of companies, from Disney to Keurig. It never works.

That's their personal choice. Most Americans have a live and let live attitude. You wanna poison yourself, that's your business. But if you want to harm other people, that's where the law should come in to stop you. Actually, most GOP voters do support more gun control. Granted, not nearly to the degree as Democrat voters. But things like red flag laws are super popular even among right-leaning Americans. That's the slippery slope fallacy. If we allow red flag laws for guns, soon we'll have red flag laws for hammers! -
Yes, but they're the exception, not the rule. Eminem is a college drop out that grew up poor. However, the vast majority of people who grew up poor and dropped out of college are not going to be rich or even in the upper-class. We're talking about rates, not individual examples. Seriously, do you really think poor people have as many opportunities as rich people? If the answer is no, but you're against trying to give the poor more opportunity, then you don't actually care about equality of opportunity. We can talk about generalizations. Generally speaking, we can predict a person's chances at success based on where they grew up. There will be exceptions, but generally speaking, if you're born poor then you'll remain poor. You linked one report where showed that a slight majority of rich people didn't inherit their wealth. It did not show that those people didn't have more opportunities than people born into poverty. Cool, but that's not the point. The point is that economics and classism dictate how many opportunities you get in life.

The difference is that the cutlery manufacturers don't own the GOP and use them to block any kind of new gun control policies. -
Take a closer look. Here's what it really says: "Of those folks, 67.7% were self-made, while 23.7% had a combination of inherited and self-created wealth. Only 8.5% of global high-net-worth individuals were categorized as having completely inherited their wealth." So by "self-made" they really mean people who didn't inherit wealth. They're including people who were born into the upper-class and were given opportunities that poor people weren't. Like the comic shows, people born into the upper-class have more time to study, better schools, and more social connections. They also grow up healthier which correlates to IQ rates. None of this has anything to do with inheritance, but it's still class privilege. When talking about systemic classism, we're not talking about individual cases, we're talking about rates. On average, your zip code can predict how successful you'll be. This doesn't mean there won't be plenty of cases of people who grow up in the ghetto and end up in the upper-class. The point is that because of the way the system is set up, those people will always be a small minority. That's strawmanning. Nobody said you can't get out of poverty. I'm saying that in order to get closer to equality of opportunity, we should have social welfare programs to help people who have much less opportunity due to classism. If you disagree that we should reduce inequality, then you don't actually believe in equality of opportunity.

And when it got out that Smollett lied, all of those stations reported on it. This is the difference between real journalism and right-wing media. Real journalists get things wrong, but they admit it as soon as possible. But right-wing media, like Fox, just lies. The Fox pundits aren't admitting that they were wrong about the 2020 election, because they knew they were lying.

I know, right? People are actually mad at the NRA over all those mass shootings. Crazy. -
First of all, that's absolutely not true. Most rich people start off rich or upper-class. Bezos is an exception. Secondly, even if that wasn't true, it's still beside the point. The point is that we don't all start at the same start. People are given more opportunity depending on their upbringing. https://talkpoverty.org/2015/12/17/american-dream-zip-codes-affordable-housing/ It's no coincidence that something as simple as your zip code can predict how successful you'll be.

Thank you for not making me a liar. -
Did you read the comic? It explains why, because of classism and where we all start, we don't have equal opportunity. The way we level the playing field is with social welfare programs to reduce classism. Now I don't expect you to address any of these points, because you don't actually care able equality of opportunity.

Is Leftism a kind of Religion?
Americana Antifa replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You can't address my points, so you have to lie about what I'm saying. The mark of the triggered. -
And what is that "agenda" exactly? Treating trans people like human beings? Because that's all this beer controversy is. A company did some promo bullshit with a popular celebrity, like they always do, but this time the celebrity was trans. Sooooooo..... what is the "agenda" here that you have a problem with?

Is Leftism a kind of Religion?
Americana Antifa replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
OMG! Stop humiliating yourself by learning about Marxism from literal Nazis! I'm going to be super charitable and say that you're probably not a Nazi. But everything you're saying comes from literal Nazi propaganda, not Das Kapital or the Communist Manifesto. Marxism is an anarchic ideology. The ultimate goal of the Marxist is the elimination of the state. You sound like a retard saying that the people who want anarchy think that the only authority that matters is the state. This is like saying Atheists think the only real law is God's law. That alone should tell you how stupid you're being. -

Bullshit. I even said I don't know if you're a Nazi, but you're repeating nazi propaganda. I've said that most Republicans aren't Nazis, they only use nazi propaganda because it sells with their audience. You're resorting to blatantly lies now because you know you're wrong. Your idea of Marxism is incorrect and based on an old conspiracy theory created by the original Nazis. -
Is Leftism a kind of Religion?
Americana Antifa replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nope. I included the quotes that were indicative of viewing marxism through a conspiracy theory lens. You can criticize communism. Personally, I don't think any system of anarchy is realistic. But saying the reason marxism is bad is because it promotes trans ideology, destroys the family, feminizes men, all of that is just the cultural marxism nazi theory. -
Is Leftism a kind of Religion?
Americana Antifa replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's nonsensical in that it's based on lies and very easy to debunk. Now as far as its effectiveness goes, I agree, it's extremely effective. Decades later, "cultural marxism" is still amazingly common on the Right, even among conservatives who aren't nazis. -
Is Leftism a kind of Religion?
Americana Antifa replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
See, this is what I mean. What you're describing isn't real Marxism. You're describing Marxism through the lens of the Cultural Marxism conspiracy theory. And while I don't know if you're a Nazi, this conspiracy theory is based on a Nazi theory that formed the basis of most of Nazism. It's also the only aspect of Nazism that is still super common among Neo-Nazis. Probably neither. I don't think he's been good on making Canada more democratic, but I also haven't seen any examples of him making Canada more authoritarian. The closest thing to a real example was the lockdowns, which were justified considering it was a global pandemic, plus they mostly ended now. -

You know that would only help my point, yes? The Right never engages in the substance. That's why "but her e-mails" became a meme. -
Well duh. There aren't any politicians I'd ever be 100% happy with. But Bernie would unquestionably be much better than most. But as an enlightened centrist, I know you have to pretend that Bernie and Trump are basically the same.
