I don't suppose it occurred to you that if they couldn't find people to pay a million for a home they'd have to cut the price, hmm? No, I suppose not. Even the government now admits they ARE, in fact, the problem. This leaves you with nothing, not even your normal RACIST!! accusations to fall back on. Maybe that was back in the days before the Trudeaus had built up an enormous debt with continuing massive deficits. Unfortunately, we're kinda broke now.

Came across a writeup in the Telegraph that struck some chords with me. Along with his fellow travellers in the institutions, he (Trudeau) set to work ripping the country’s historic identity to shreds. The three prongs of the attack involved setting fire to its past, promoting LGBTQ and critical race theory in schools and government, and unleashing an unprecedented wave of mass migration. Only now that the full impact of this cultural revolution is sinking in is the country waking up. Even the mainstream liberal left admits things have gone too far. Journalist Omer Aziz, in the liberal establishment Globe and Mail, penned a viral piece about the betrayal of the ‘Canadian Dream’, which he characterised as on life support. He speaks of a social crisis, an immigration crisis, an economic crisis and a political crisis after the ravages of Trudeau. Former Tory cabinet minister Kevin Klein adds, ‘Today, our country’s identity is under siege, not from outside invaders but from within – by an ideology that seeks to erase what it means to be Canadian. The left’s relentless attack on our values, history, and sense of belonging is tearing at the very fabric of our democracy.’

Far too high. We've been letting in that many for decades now and are losing our national cohesion. There are so many immigrant kids in school they can't find many Canadians to integrate with. Instead, in some cases, it's Canadian kids who are being influenced by the immigrant kids. As I have pointed out before, Immigration Canada's own report from 2017 warns that Canada was losing its capacity to absorb newcomers. Immigrants were becoming less likely to even bother learning local languages, immigrant ethnic ghettos were growing, and immigrants were performing poorer in economic terms. More to the point, as recent events have demonstrated when immigrants don't integrate when they hang onto their old world values and beliefs, they also hang onto their old-world loyalties and hatreds. We don't need to set up new foreign states within our own country. That way lies nothing but violence. Nor do we need what's left of our Canadian cultures and values to be washed away under a flood of foreigners who can't integrate even if they want to because there's so few Canadians left around them to integrate into.

The dark side of the feminization of higher education.

Noticed this for years. They send firefighters to a lot of the healthcare calls now because too often the EMTs and paramedics are too weak to lift people onto the gurneys. -

Why would anyone bring up something that obvious? Why would YOU? But that's a Yankee issue. We have few such incidents here. Most of our murders are street and drug crime and committed by black and brown people. The Left's eyes bulge and they start screaming the R-word whenever you bring that up. And, like the Trudeau government, they insist that's only because of 'systemic racism' which they can't actually find or eliminate. So if you're Black or native you get a get-out-of-jail-free card, or two or six. And now the Trudeauites are set to further reduce Black incarceration because... because... well, the only reason they're in jail for murdering and raping people is racism! Nobody on the Left wants to address this. Nobody in politics wants to talk about it. Nobody in media will cover it except from the racism angle. Nobody will admit there are huge problems in the black and Indigenous communities around single parenthood, culture and criminality. Trudeau got rid of mandatory minimum sentences for gun crimes because... why? Because they 'disproportionately impact communities of colour'. Not because of 'systemic racism' nobody can find but because THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE COMMITTING THE GUN CRIMES! -
The Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, also known as the "Big Treaty",[2][3] was an agreement signed in 1997 between Ukraine and Russia, which fixed the principle of strategic partnership, the recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, and respect for territorial integrity and mutual commitment not to use its territory to harm the security of each other. The treaty prevents Ukraine and Russia from invading one another's country respectively, and declaring war.[4]

The dark side of the feminization of higher education.
I am Groot replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Women haven't been prevented from taking any course for decades, Grandpa. But any course that was disproportionately male (because some courses attract men more than women and vice versa) caused the educational establishment and women groups to go into a tizzy to recruit women, to give them special help, even to set aside seats in STEM courses just for women whose marks would otherwise not qualify them. Maybe you can explain why the number of men going to university is dwindling. Because no, they're not all going to trade school. Barely a fraction are. I think that just as female-oriented K-12 schools turn boys off, female-oriented universities, with rules that disproportionately impact male behavior, turn young men off. They don't see universities as places where they can thrive, grow and learn, but places where their every word and act will be ruthlessly policed. -

There have been reports about the deterioration in male educational achievements for years, going right down through high school and grade school. Now we see very large 'inequality' to use the Left's term, in the numbers of males in universities and the general response of the Left here is "Meh, who gives a shit? Screw men. Women are smarter." Which just shows the levels of hypocrisy the Left seems to have no difficulty with. Because if it were girls doing worse and worse in K-12 schools there'd be national commissions and every Left-wing politician would be pounding the pulpit and screaming bloody murder. And universities still go well out of their way, as do all traditional male industries and educational groups to favor women, to give them extra help, to recruit them, to set aside seats in STEM and other courses to ensure women, even if they're far down the list in capabilities, can still get in. My own view has always been that if women didn't want to be in STEM that was up to them. I never saw nor do I now see the purpose in desperately trying to recruit them and persuade them to take on courses they have little interest in. Nor have I ever felt there was any good purpose in lowering standards in organizations like policing, firefighting, the military, or paramedics in order to get more women. But no one on the Left ever had that view. And no one in education has ever been sanguine about having fewer women than men in ANY course whatsoever. Yet now we see many courses with far fewer men than women and the educational establishment, largely run by women now, could not care less. -
Interesting read, and not often you find such candor from a university professor. I wonder what blowback he'll get for mentioning names the way he did. Universities have become, in his words "matriarchal enterprise run by women for women, in pursuit of retribution for the patriarchy of the past". And men are tuning out and refusing to attend as the universities fill their administrative and academic ranks with female social justice warriors and fill their course catalogs with 'studies' courses that are anathema to men. In the United States, women have long been outpacing men in college graduation, with the proportion of 25-34 year old females holding a bachelor’s degree eclipsing males in the same age category as far back as the mid-1990s. For the academic year that began in the fall of 2021, Statistics Canada reported that enrolment of women was a full 18 percentage points — almost a whole quintile — ahead of men. What is abundantly clear is that men are steering clear of university programs, even in the traditionally masculine subject areas — and I don’t blame them. In conversation with my new chair in the department of chemical and physical sciences, Prof. Claudiu Gradinaru, I was told that even physics is now showing close to a 50-50 gender split. Women, thankfully, are no longer ashamed to split the atom. But let me venture a reason for this widespread masculine detoxification of our universities. The pervasive and now deeply entrenched culture of kindness, empathy and academic limp-wristedness, the same culture that has led to so many students receiving accommodations for any number of largely imagined mental ailments, is anathema to the young, testosterone-charged male psyche, governed as it is by genetically embedded tendencies for boundary-pushing and risk-taking. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/the-dark-side-of-the-feminization-of-higher-education

You should look at some of the videos available of Gaza before the war. It was quite liveable. The West Bank too. You don't think so? Compare them to videos from Pakistan or Bangladesh. What is most challenging to the Palestinians are the precautions and security set up by Israel to protect its people. But one must remember the walls and fences and security checkpoints weren't always there. Palestinians once worked in Israel proper in large numbers. Then came the intifada and suicide bombings and suicide attacks, and so now they have this - which is nothing more than the results of their own actions. Normally we would align with civilization against barbarism, yes. Or that Canadians who don't hate Jews side with civilization over barbarism and savagery. Tell me where your glorious Third Reich is these days.

Yeah, but most of the Left don it like a fashionable outfit they can wear to the ball, where they all congratulate each other on how they're so cosmopolitan and sophisticated. And isn't Barcelona lovely this time of year? You know, the kind of people who go to gallery openings. Oh, just read that galleries are afraid to showcase artists who are Jews now, lest they offend their customers or draw angry crowds of brownshirts.

Trump's God Bless America bibles are made in China! They cost him $3 and he's selling them for $60.

Everything I've found from the government's budget and revenue sites puts it closer to $45b. Though I admit it's hard to get clarity from ANY Canadian government websites, which seem to be designed with maximum confusion and obfuscation in mind. Generlaly, I can find out basic information about the US government quickly and easily. Those words can never be applied to the Canadian government websites.

Hang on. My understanding is the government collected closer to $45 B in GST last year.

Others have wanted to, like Chretien, but the opposition from native chiefs who wanted to make sure the money train kept flowing through their living rooms caused the effort to fail. I, on the other hand, don't give a shit what native chiefs say or want. There is a growing sense in Canada that our judges, and especially those on the country’s highest court, routinely overstep the boundaries of their office. Until last week, however, one might have thought that support for this conclusion could only be inferred from the Supreme Court of Canada’s judgments. That changed on Wednesday, when recent public remarks by the Chief Justice of Canada, Richard Wagner, sent shockwaves through social media. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/opinion-unchecked-judicial-power-thats-chief-justice-wagners-vision-for-canada Mmm no. Never said that. Nice backtracking there. Did you think I wouldn't notice? Suddenly you're narrowing the scope of what you suggested earlier. Now it only involves empty land no one uses! Either you're dumber than I thought - which is hard to believe - or more dishonest than I thought - which is even harder. My response to your inane view that all ceded land would return to the ownership of the natives is based on the idea that land owned and paid for by homeowners throughout the country would suddenly be given over to the natives. Not to mention entire towns and cities. Yes, so the first thing we'd do is rush an amendment through to tell the judges to drop dead. And it would probably contain a clause that limited their authority in future since they'd have demonstrated they couldn't be trusted without oversight. Barring that happening, yes, people would most certainly target both the judges and natives. Who said anything about 'white people'? You woke types are obsessed with race. I'm talking about the 95% of the population who would see their land taken away to please natives. Are you an American, by any chance? Because the drool you slobbered onto your keyboard above has no relation to conservatism. And certainly not to conservatism in Canada. Oh sure there'd be trouble. But short-term pain for long-term gain. If you weren't a demented flake and owned some property you might have more of an understanding of how property owners would respond to some judge deciding it now belongs to natives because two or three centuries ago their ancestors used to hunt on it now and then. No, it's about ever-increasing handouts to lazy natives and crooked chiefs because twisted little woke twats like you feel guilty over something that happened centuries ago. Yeah? Tell them they no longer own their property and see how they react.

It was the micmks who violated the treaty and started the war Excellent. We'll get rid of it then. You authoritarian left-wingers who despise democracy and want rule by technocrats are just such a strange bunch. maybe it's because you don't like or trust people. I was responding to your silly view that without the treaties all the land reverts to the natives. If the Supreme Court was as lunatic as you and actually made such a ruling it would take the provinces and government about a week to do a constitutional amendment to overrule the SC. Because if they didn't people would just start murdering every native they could get their hands on. No, it's us conservatives who care about society as a whole and you left-wingers who feel there's no problem in causing enormous dislocation, costs, and trouble to society to aid your favorite little victim groups Like the way you people decided you'd make everyone lock themselves into their homes and give criminals the free run of the street rather than lock up the criminals and let people outside. Again, I was responding to your fantasy that the SC could rule all the land would revert to natives if we got rid of the treaties. If that happened you can be damned sure that a constitutional amendment would be implemented damned fast. And if not people would start lynching both natives and judges. You don't get that because like the rest of the Left you've never understood human nature and never understood human motivations. Because at heart, you hate people.
