  1. We're STILL aiming for 400k a year. And we've still got millions of foreigners in the country, many of whom shouldn't be here. And among them are all those 'asylum' claimants. Nearly 200k last year. If we don't do something to address the lure that is drawing people from around the world to come here to claim asylum, the majority of our immigrants will soon be unskilled migrants we never chose and who, in many cases, we can't even identify.
  2. Irrelevant to my point. The US is falling well behind in replacing its surface warships. We have a longer coastline than the UK. And unlike Australia, we have Russia right next to us.
  3. This is not polling. This is simple economic measurement easily repudiated if it's wrong. Anything conservative would be termed 'economically right wing' and ONLY a conservative organization would ever post information critical of the government's climate change spending. And it's as mucha 'propaganda machine' as the CBC and Toronto Star. You people on the fringe left always instantly dismiss everything that comes from any even moderately conservative source without even attempting to repudiate the actual information itself.
  4. So you're saying the 'green economy' is actually much, much larger? Is that it? It's just like.. invisible. The Fraser Institute is a conservative organization, which is why your ilk automatically ignores what it says. You're waiting for the CBC or Toronto Star to come out and dismiss the spending as wasteful. Which, of course, will never happen.
  5. America's shipyards are already backlogged with orders. They can't expand or build or hire fast enough, and the Chinese are adding new warships at 5-7 times their rate.
  6. The Liberals spent $23 billion of our money on green initiatives last year. Despite all the spending and all the regulations, the 'green economy' has only grown from 3.1% to 3.6% of Canada's economy in the last decade. Canada’s economic performance cratered after Ottawa pivoted to the ‘green’ economy | Fraser Institute
  7. We do still have a free trade agreement with the US that lets well over 90% of trade pass through the border without being taxed. So really, the whole of the US can be our market, too. It's largely not because we suck at building things. We suck at building things because we don't invest in technology like the Americans do, much less like the Europeans or Japanese do. Our dollar is worth about 72 cents, so we should have an advantage on exports, so why aren't we exporting more than raw material?
  8. It's not new, but it's a progressive thing that builds on itself year by year as wages continue to lag increasing prices. To the United States? They manufacture lots of stuff in Europe, even in places like Sweden. Why is that?
  9. In what way? You mean like the CBC or Toronto Star? What side do you think they should emphasize when it comes to crime statistics?
  10. That's now how it works now. Fruit picking is an almost industrial activity. Have you seen these agricultural workers from the south? They move like crazy. They've been doing it for years and can pick about ten times as much as your hippies of olden days. Farmers want no part of some city boy who can pick a bag or two and then needs to rest up because it's hot and he's tired.
  11. Wages have not risen nearly as much as costs over the past ten-twenty years. So what we call minimum wage today isn't going to give you near as much as it did twenty years ago. Capitalism functions very well to solve a shortage of workers. You raise your wages until you can attract sufficient capable workers. If that means raising prices, then you do so. Naturally, this means fewer customers. Some places will go under, so there are enough customers to support those who remain at the prices they must charge for workers. That's how Capitalism works. I recognize agriculture is a different situation. Today's young people are rarely in physical condition to do a short stint at bringing in crops and such with any kind of efficiency. They'd be aching and moving like snails halfway through their first shift. That's why we fly in people from the south who do this at home all the time and have the physical condition and experience to do it. I'm fine with that.
  12. Been hearing about heavy food bank usage lately? Guess who's using them?
  13. I couldn't help notice you didn't say the stats were untrue.
  14. Government taxes as a percentage of GDP are at a 24 year high, and yet we're still facing massive deficits everywhere. Local government has been steady. The provinces are gaining control of their spending. Only the federal government is out of control.
  15. As I've said before, much data is available from other Western nations that Canada never bothers to keep, and if it did would never let us see.
  16. What they've done to Canada, how about combining soft-on-crime policies, especially w/r to minorities, with a huge influx of third-world people who are from low-trust societies, and who we never even bothered to screen? Ottawa police report 63% rise in crime in last decade
  17. Do we really need more Indian truck drivers? https://x.com/bruce_barrett/status/1982183436614840459
  18. re·tard·ed /rəˈtärdəd/ adjective 1. offensive•dated less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age.
  19. Anyone involved with these protests, occupations, and demonstrations, just for a start.
  20. Toronto has had 4 a day, on average, since the war began. Montreal is repeatedly overrun with them. They're all across the country and have not slowed down just because the war is over. They are aided by spineless, obsequious local and provincial governments who don't want to endanger their Muslim/progressive voting base and so tell the police to ignore the illegality of the demonstrations and protests and turn their eyes and ears away from hate speech. This is especially notable from Montreal, where 12% of the population is Muslim and the left has fixated on Gaza as the cause to give meaning to their miserable, failed lives. Thus we have Toronto's mayor, who was often rumored to be deeply antisemitic even when she was a city councillor, refusing to even notice there are Jews living in her city, much less go near them, and her police are usually see-no-evil, hear-no-evil when it comes to these incessant demonstrations, occupations, and protests. Though at least they're not as bad as the Montreal cops, who seem to side with the demonstrators most of the time, and angrily threaten anyone who dares to say or do anything the protesters might find offensive. That includes violently arresting journalists covering their marches (who are then released afterward since they broke no laws). Oh yes, freedom of speech, right? Try standing on the sidewalk holding an Israeli flag as one of these demos approaches and you'll quickly be mobbed by police and ordered away. The police even threatened journalists at Queens Park trying to cover a demo, ordering them off the property. Maybe they were afraid they'd find out where that quivering bowl of fat who is Ontario's current premier was hiding. Freedom for some, but not for others. Canada used to be a country noted for 'peace, order, and good government,' and now we have none of them.
  21. Good bloody question!
  22. And I didn't bother doing so. So what? Would you like to comment on the belief that 10-year-olds are old enough to decide their future gender, but 17-year-olds are too immature to be punished for murder?
  23. It's been sadly evident since Trudeau's first election that a sizeable number of Canadian voters are more than willing to sell their votes to whoever offers them the most free stuff. And that's always an unequal contest for the conservatives. Whether it's promising endless free social programs, eagerly bringing in massive numbers of immigrants to please ethnic groups, or importing huge numbers of foreign workers to please business, the people in the Liberal party know how to buy off whores with their own and their kids' money. This works especially well with boomers, who figure they won't be around when the bill comes due anyway. They could be mistaken, of course. We're already spending $50 billion a year on interest on the debt. If Carney keeps borrowing, that could rise to $100 billion. And much, much worse if inflation and interest rates really get out of control as they did in the 80s. "We're the government, and we're here to help."
