  1. Girl Guides of Canada renaming 'Brownies' as it has caused 'personal harm' to racialized girls.

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

    1. OftenWrong

      OftenWrong

I'll remember that next time I'm eating one.  ;)

  2. The problem is that as we neglect our defense budget to pour money into climate change Russia and China are instead pouring money into their defense budgets and building coal plants. Talk about mitigation! Nothing we do is of the slightest importance compared to all those coal plants coming online every year
  3. The only one that seems to be in denial about anything here is you. At least about the value of NATO and the threat from Russia. Nobody said that but you. You seem to have a gift for twisting every reasonable disagreement with you into some kind of hyperbolic exaggeration and distortion of what other people say. Even as you singularly fail to respond with any intelligent counter. That's untrue, as well. We simply disagree with the stupid path you and others have determined on because, well, numbers. We like numbers and yours don't work. We like reality and you don't. You and many of the other climate alarmists are fixated on a fantasy of how things work and refuse to listen to contrary views.
  4. The world is neither valueless nor unlivable and is not going to become so.
  5. I disagree. It's much easier to cheat on an international agreement because there's no penalty for doing so, no enforcement mechanism. The Chinese do it all the time. And even if they did sign an agreement to reduce their emissions they would cheat on it if they saw it as being in their interests. Because of the 180 countries on Earth only about thirty are contributing anything at all. While many of the others are pulling hard in the opposite direction.
  6. If they have nothing of value to add to what a hundred thousand smarter, more knowledgeable people are saying about the meteor then.. yes, ignore her.
  7. But everyone is required to pay taxes. That is enforceable. No one is required to cut their CO2 emission. Developing world countries aren't even expected to do so.
  8. No one who wants to make war on Capitalism is going to improve life for anyone. And jamming in a bunch of leftist identity buzzwords like colonialism, imperialism, genocide, racism, oppression, etc. does not require brain power. it requires the lack of brain power.
  9. They're just dumb. I remember when Trump was warning Europeans about relying on Russia for so much of their energy needs people on European subs were snickering and laughing. They literally thought there was no chance whatsoever that Russia would interrupt their fuel supplies. Of course, Obama warned them about the same thing a few years earlier but they ignored him too. Now look at them, especially the moronic Germans.
  10. CO2 levels continue to climb. Whether Canada reduces its contribution is irrelevant as the big players continue to increase theirs, which vastly outweighs what we do. Until developing world leaders set and actively work towards reducing their emissions (none are) we will see no progress.
  11. We haven't done nothing, though. We have spent a fortune on climate change to no actual advantage for anyone but those getting the money. There is nothing Canada can do about climate change other than see to ameliorating the effects in its own territory. Climate change is inevitable and almost no one in the world is doing much to avoid it other than the West.
  12. The Liberals commited cultural genocide by their own definition. The tories under Mulroney were a Quebec run party and did nothing to reverse it. The Harper tories were all about tiny, itsy bitsy little steps and did little to reverse it. I believe I said exactly the opposite.
  13. Just came across this. It seems the Royal navy has approved a contract with BAE systems to build 5 more type 26 frigates at a cost of 4.2 billion pounds. That works out to $6.6 billion canbucks, or $1.32 billion per ship. Canada's type 26 ships, by comparison, will cost over $5 billion per ship. https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2022/11/bae-systems-gets-contract-to-build-2nd-batch-of-5-type-26-frigates/
  14. And how much of that money is going to be used to fight climate change except in the sense of filling Swiss bank accounts so the leaders of those countries can go north to a cooler climate when the weather gets too hot?
  15. The last 50 years has mostly been Liberal governments set on destroying English Canada's culture, and in particular its historic cultural and institutional ties to the UK That comes from the US.
  16. Of what value is a law which is unenforceable?
  17. You certainly do like to be shrill. I merely suggested possibilities. The duty of a military is to prepare for what the enemy might do. The duty of risk managers is to prepare for what might happen. Are you of the view we should only worry about things when they're actually underway? Do you call up an insurance company to ask about fire insurance while your house is aflame? Ice? Yeah, there's no oil or gas or other natural resources up there. Whyever would I suspect Russia would have any interest? I mean, it's not like they've spent tens of billions of dollars rebuilding and expanding their arctic military bases and building more ice capable warships. Oh wait...
  18. Changes can be good. But not always. Forced changes rarely. Changes by government policy, almost never. In a sense, in the sense the Liberals use it, the Liberal party has been engaged in cultural genocide against English Canadians for the last fifty years.
  19. We have little in the way of exports to China. All they buy, mostly, is raw materials and food. Their leverage, on the other hand, is in the things they sell us. We get most of our medicine from them, for example, not to mention a huge number of consumer goods. Replacing the consumer goods would be costly. Replacing the medicine may not even be possible, and if it is would take considerable time. So far they haven't used that as blackmail, probably because it would be a wake up notice to every country buying from them, who would all immediately start looking for alternatives. But that day is coming. And if they get their hands on Taiwan we're really in trouble. Sixty percent of the world's semiconductors come from Taiwan, and 90% of the more advanced chips. Their leverage is more about money in the pockets of influential Liberals than economic worries. Such people are offered very preferential investment deals in China in hopes they will influence government policy. You saw them coming out of the woodwork during the two michaels, advising the government to let Wanzhou go. But usually they're behind the scenes, whispering in ears at various Liberal Party gatherings. They have names like Chretien, Manley, Rock, Axworthy, and Oullette. He was certainly compromised, and so was his successor. Although in the case of the latter he was willingly and eagerly compromised long before he was appointed ambassador, as was his wife.
  20. They still love Trudeau. Any talk is just that: talk. It's meaningless until they demonstrate resolve by increasing the budget for CSIS and CSE, ordering members of the United Front and Chinese language media in Canada to register as foreign agents, and closing down the Confucius institutes.
  21. Canada's.
  22. How do people even find these things? This is from 2006 but was necroed in 2011, then again in 2015, and then in 2020. Now here it is again? Is there some list of old topics you can look into just to see if you want to start them up again?
  23. I don't LIKE masks.

    1. TreeBeard

      TreeBeard

Me either.  But I’m smart enough to realize that they have some utility.

They can also be harmful when used improperly. By now it should be clear that our efforts to hide from covid have backfired, on a large scale.

      Observe and learn.

    3. I am Groot

      I am Groot

I know they have in some use in some situations. I don't see any of those situations involving me in the near future. I don't think a huge, mostly empty big box store on a weekday morning presents much risk of infection.

  24. What about Vlad Putin leads you to believe he operates under some other belief?
  25. NATO is the only reason Russia lets us pretend we own the north. We certainly have no military which could do a single thing to them if they decided they wanted to start drilling for oil there.
