i am glad for you and for your Wife that you found common ground. I am quite sure she has to work hard, maybe harder than the men in the corporation, and perform well and play the game to climb that latter. Kinda like moving up the ladder in the Army (or Air Force) My Wife was fortunate to be able to move her career with me.

Not sure if you are up to date or not but Canada for most part has also done away with mandates. the feds have only the transport one in place. Fact is COVID is getting worse. Cases are rapidly increasing. There are many countries, states and even cities that are right now or soon may re-imposing more mandates. Masks are required in Philadelphia again and other cities and states are acting in the same way. Shanghai and Shenzhen are back in complete lockdown. While some airlines are trying, it is still a requirement to wear masks on planes and trains in the US as well as Canada. "They found that the multiple layer of measures, including the wearing of face masks and more frequent disinfection, together with the aircraft airflow systems, results in a very low risk of COVID-19 transmission on aircraft." https://www.iata.org/en/youandiata/travelers/health/low-risk-transmission/ Look, arguing about COVID is stupid. This F'N virus is with us for a long time. It will be going up and down for years to come and the vaccination stuff reduces hospitalizations and severity, just like the annual flu vaccination. Some folks get the flu shot and others don't some folks go to the hospital with the flu and die and some don't. Familiar?? The truckers achieved noting except creating divides amongst Canadians and their opinions. Nothing changed and it won't. I hear you and your opinion and you are very much entitled to it, as I have one and am entitled to it as well. Not everyone has to think like you .... or me. Calling me names is just childish. Lastly, who gives a rats ass about WEF except you that keeps bringing it up.

Protesting on Public Sidewalks now illegal in Alberta
ExFlyer replied to West's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I think you really do not understand the soldier, his task and his mindset. I dare say that no soldier has ever been ordered to kill someone. Have they? I am sure that they have but the circumstances are all varied and quite intense. Protesters that were there peacefully and obeying the laws and bylaws, and there there thousands, were left alone to protest. The ones that were fined were fined because they broke those laws and bylaws. Name as many as you want but the fact is, the broke existing laws... many thousands were not arrested or fined. I am not even going to look or listen to the Rebel, It is not even considered a news source or legitimate media. -
You say your lost the right of free speech? Of what goes in your body? Of your personal finances? When did that happen? Don't say you cannot protest, because you can. Don't say you cannot control what goes in your body, because you can. Don't say you have freedom of your personal freedoms because 200 people out of 36 million had governmental interference? Taxation, well, the public services, roads and infrastructure, health services and much more you have are all as a result of taxes. Canada selected a government that has a green agenda. Some don't like it to your personal chagrin, but as a democracy, enough did. Canada already has tariffs o products (or else they would be eve n cheaper)and taxes companies and that is why companies leave. How do you protect workers when they price themselves out of work? You, the consumer wants cheaper products and that is why companies leave....to satisfy your demands and desires. Thing is, anyone can complain but in reality, things happen and are done for a reason and it only tales a bit of logical though to figure that out. I don't disagree with everything you say but, I feel that you are not fully aware of how things work in reality. Feel free to suggest better ways to do the things you complain about.

So, what freedoms within the law have you lost? Taxes pay for what you do want (you meaning the democratic collective you) As for jobs lost to India, what has that to do with government and your freedoms? Why are jobs lost to India (or China or Philippines or other countries)? Could it be cheap labour and manufacturing capabilities which we don't have because companies get it done for less over there? Nice try though

Not about me at all. I am a nobody. I look down at no one. The point is about missing opportunities and failure to achieve due to principal.. To be honest, employers and bosses love people with no ambition and drive and principals. They love workers that are OK with just being the low person on the totem pole. Principals do not cost them any money.
-
Of course. NDP give you whatever you want, no matter how much it costs. Remember though, the government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
-
Lots of ways to be "true to yourself". Pretty selfish of you though if your family suffers because of your principals. But hey, you can be proud that all your one time peers have bettered themselves and you remain far behind. That's lots to be proud of LOL
-
Oh, how very NDP of you LOL Oh and if your ever thought your bank accounts were safe from governments.... you are dreaming. Out of 36 million, those 200 folks that had them frozen for trucker occupations is the most useless cause ever.
-
??

It is not a matter of being true to themselves, it is a matter of pride, recognition, and in the end, failed opportunities. The loss of higher wages alone over the subsequent 15 or so years and loss of pension income could be a hundred thousand.... is that worth being true to them self? Yes, money isn't everything but, you fail your family on principal. Is that everything?

Maybe the "lone link" is the commentary?

Protesting on Public Sidewalks now illegal in Alberta
ExFlyer replied to West's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No, you have that quite wrong. I support peaceful protests. Here in Ottawa there are peaceful protests almost every weekend, sometimes several at any given time. Truckers occupation that blocks streets and break bylaws and will not move when asked is not peaceful. Blocking hospital entrances to protest and preventing or delaying people entry to the hospital is not peaceful (can very easily be harmful or more dangerous). Blocking critical infrastructure and preventing normal function is not peaceful and can have detrimental effects on many people. My entire point in this discussion was to point out the subject title was false, or at the least, misleading. No people were stopped from protesting on sidewalks, or anywhere. In fact, there have been no fines or charges using Bill 1 at all. It was made law in case there was a need to clear paths for critical infrastructure and peoples safety. If you have evidence otherwise, please provide it but, as you usually have no proof, I suspect you will deflect to elsewhere. As for your "shoot to kill" comment, you are totally incorrect in that as well. There is no order that a military can give that obliges you to kill anyone. "4. Even though members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are held to the highest standards of conduct, they do not give up the rights that are afforded to them under Canadian law, including under the Constitution." https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/corporate/reports-publications/military-law/an-overview-of-canadas-military-justice-system.html -
You know as well as I that promotion is based on performance and competition amongst your peers. If you do not accept the promotion when it comes, so be it but, again as you know, your salary remains stagnant (the occasional military pay raise excepted) and your pension remains lower. Pension may not be of concern to you but, you lose higher salary as the only way to make more money in the Military is to move up the ranks. I worked with an excellent aircraft technician that refused to take the Junior leaders course on principal. He was definitely on the rise and a good leader, instructor and as I said, technician. He remained in and retired after 25 years. that principal cost him lost of lost salary, who knows how many promotions and most of all, a huge pension cut. So, it is not just a matter of coveting rank, it is a matter of just moving forward in ones career. Your pension as a M/Cpl is a lot less than that of your possible position as RSM. Some may think that a military person has nothing to say and cannot think for themselves but that is far from the truth. Yes, one has to be a bit careful as a military person is bound by National Defence Act but then, if you work for large corporations you are often bound by non disclosure agreements too. If you derogatorily speak of your employer, your job is in jeopardy regardless where you work.

Not asking anyone to walk with me. It is the few here that go nuts if one is not on the same path as them...you being one of them. Insults, name calling, cursing, anything to demonstrate their superiority. What would you folks do if everyone was like you....no one to diss, no one to crap on, no one to disagree with....it could turn to cannibalism LOL. You would eat each other. LOL Anyway, while I agree with what some of you have to say, you make it so difficult to say so. It is much more fun stirring you up.
-
Don't ya just hate it when someone does not walk down your path?

Ha Ha Ha OK

OK. But please Lord, don't let me fall as low as some here.

Uhh no. Been there LOL -
Thank you. It is actually good there are fatalists like you and WesCanMan. Makes us realize Canada is a good place if folks like yourselves can prosper.
-
Chuckle. Comprehension is not your strong point so, I will let you continue to wallow in your conspiracies. You go live in your narrow world and I will live in my expansive safe world. I will walk about without having to look over my shoulder for the evil government LOL I believe what I believe and you can continue to theorize. Love reading your stuff. Makes me feel sane. thanks

Capital Gains Tax on Primary Residences
ExFlyer replied to ExFlyer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You are right about the actual material. We are talking about housing though and that is not just the house itself, it is the land and all the associated permit and fees. A house in GTA will cost about the same to build as it does in Sudbury but, the land and fees are a lot different. the finished house on it's property may only cost 300 or 400K in Sudbury but much closer to a million in GTA. -
Ask WestCanMan, he can find videos for any of his conspiracy theories LOL Visi's claim as well as gun point arrests are hearsay and perpetuated by guys like WestCanMan. I am sure he can fine a blurry partial video to make his stand LOL

Once again, and not snotty, just doubting your ambiguous links. Never said it was not Ottawa. "He says it was him"... I say it was actually Billy Boggins...prove me wrong LOL What does the government or police have to say if there is no accusation or charge or claim except Fox, this clown and your showboating? No lies, just questioning validity. You have no proof that this video is d f this guy, just a Fox interview and he has nothing to back himself up. If he was so certain and can prove it was him, he would be laying charges. there is even a gofundme to help him but, he has done nothing. That and he buggered off. So, I conclude he is a phony and sucked you into his little world but hey, as PT Barnum said, there is a sucker born every minute LOL.. : "This is one persons story (that claims the video is of him). Nothing showing what led up to the situation nor does it show what happened after. Also, there is no complaints or charges from him against police that I could find so, what is what? If he has the video proof, what is stopping him from laying charges? Can't wait to hear what story you will make up to answer that. "Csaba Vizi, a trucker from Windsor, went viral on social media after he pledged to come home “glorious like Caesar, or in a body bag”. The night before the police operation, however, Vizi and other drivers left the city." https://vervetimes.com/ottawa-protests-conspiracies-and-accusations-of-betrayal-as-police-end-blockade-canada/" As I said, you just prove my point. Have a great conspiracy manufacturing day LOL

Not sure what you are contesting or trying to convey? You do what suits you and your requirements. The discussion I had was potentially what went into the cost to build a house.
