The governments...all of them in The West...have spent the public they are supposed to serve, into a financial hole so deep that getting out may prove impossible. At the same time, they've choked down our collective throats a level of social destruction that can only be compared to the American Civil War. "Righting the ship" is going to impose some hardship on a few people. But the consequences of not "righting the ship" are devastatingly horrible. You say you're capable of rational conversation and can see the points of contention. May I suggest you do so now?
