  1. You are reading incorrectly, I was talking about the second story there, not the first one. I think we are all in agreement regarding the first one that it was manslaughter/second degree murder.
  2. REGARDING THE SECOND STORY: We went from no consequences to destroying someone in a few minutes. Of course there should be consequences but balanced to the fact at hand. And regarding employment please let's stop with the hypocrisy, you look deep down at every single individual we all made mistakes (Except Trump according to @OftenWrong joking) in different areas of our lives but we are first to criticize when someone's mistakes are made public. That's group mentality. I don't practice Christianity but I remember one story I read once about Jesus coming to an execution and he told the people there: "Only the people that have not sinned pick up the stone." Nobody picked up the stone.
  3. When it comes to sports the way i deal with it I just think about the Toronto Maple Leafs are still in the playoffs !!!
  4. What i meant is that the intention of the media to promote this story is good and it should be done to make the public aware of what is happening in society. The second story was just an interaction that was not needed to get the publicity that it got. The intent was to capitalize on the tragedy in the number 1 story to play identity politics. Was she a racist ? Who knows that's her struggles but the immediate termination from her firm and CNN, MSNBC, Twitter sendings hundreds of thousands of messages towards her it shows that in the quest for justice and good intentions people abuse their power. This is not a mob justice society, let the police handle it, wait for an investigation before you destroy someone for 1 moment of irrational thinking.
  5. There are 2 stories trending in the US in regards to the topic of racism. First story: https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/black-man-dies-video-shows-officer-kneeling-neck-70879963 Four Minneapolis police officers who were involved in the arrest of a black man who died in police custody were fired Tuesday. No matter what the reason was for the arrest no individual should be treated the way you can see in the video. Disgusting video. I am surprised no charges have been brought yet for second degree murder or manslaughter. It was the right call to make the public aware of this case. Second story: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/may/26/central-park-new-york-white-woman-black-birdwatcher Video of white woman calling police on black man in Central Park draws outrage. I watched that video, now you can tell she was extremely agitated and was not thinking rational in the moment. Her behavior was wrong and she apologized. The punishment came swiftly, she was fired from her investment firm, all the major media capitalized on the story and there is a new term going around as "Karen", which to me is nothing more than a racist term for someone that is Caucasian. Cases like the second story you can find in any group. I remember when I was younger and was volunteering in different community centers the most racist and anti-semitic people that I have met is other minorities. You can find individuals in every group when they are under stress or agitation that talk like that woman. The stuff that I heard in those centers is nothing in comparison to this. It is extremely dangerous to move towards this kind of system to allow instant punishment based on social media and CNN media like outlets because to me it looks like nothing more than capitalizing on the first story which is heartbreaking. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The first story was the good intention but propaganda and capitalizing on the first story, that is the road to hell. Share your thoughts, different perspectives
  6. I just finished reading an article: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/long-term-care-pandemic-covid-coronavirus-trudeau-1.5584960 Military alleges horrific conditions, abuse in pandemic-hit Ontario nursing homes Are these nursing homes private or run by the government ? Why aren't charges being brought ? Some of these people should be in prison.
  7. 1. I just meant it in a general way not to you personally, I asked if you want more social support in Canada when we have so much here ? 2. If the solution to economic problems is to just print money, any government that is suffering can buy 20 printers and start printing money. What that does, it decreases the value of that currency. I am already noticing in the grocery stores how slowly the prices are going up. In 6-12 months it will be even worse. That's what happens if you have too much money in circulation. 3. The time being is a perfect opportunity for people to use this crisis to push their agenda. Is busy time for the extremes. The far right is pushing conspiracy theories that Soros, New World Order, Bill Gates did it and far left socialists are saying is time for UBI, free rent, free transportation, free everything. Even moderate politicians like the mayor of Toronto was blaming "men" that don't wear the masks due to "not wanting to look weak". Never ceases to amaze me how human beings can adapt quickly to use tragedies to push their group thinking beliefs, and if these moderate politicians don't focus on maintaining a balance we risk having a dictatorship.
  8. That's what the communists used to do, give a guarantee annual income to people but what it does, It takes away the individual desire to succeed and in time corruption will appear because I can tell you right now, you think people that are highly productive and work daily including the weekends will want their taxes to go up so they can pay for someone to stay home and do nothing ? The other side is saying to open up everything which is as insane as your thoughts to keep it like this until 2021. Why is it when is chaos in the world people tend to go to the extremes instead of thinking this in a rational way. There is so much social support in this country and opportunities is not enough ? There is a welfare system which helps the individual. You want more ? Who is going to pay for that ? Where is the money going to come from ?
  9. Several tickets issued at crowded Trinity Bellwoods Park (Toronto) after people spotted urinating, defecating in driveways, backyards. "When you've got an elderly woman opening the door and seeing someone defecating, it is quite bothersome." https://www.cp24.com/news/several-tickets-issued-at-crowded-trinity-bellwoods-park-after-people-spotted-urinating-defecating-in-driveways-backyards-1.4952192
  10. Yes, good valid points however at the present time the most vulnerable individuals are the elderly. We are still in a short term shut down however if this gets prolonged the points that you raise can make the other members of society vulnerable and we might have dictators running society. There is no such thing as an answer what to do in this case and how to proceed. Is like trying to play the piano and you need to find this perfect combination of decisions to reach your goal.
  11. The value of a society is how they treat their most vulnerable individuals which is the elder individuals in this case. We will thrive and survive as a democracy only if we remember the value of the vulnerable individual. I don't agree to put at risk individuals for the greater good of the collective. We might suffer in the short term but in the longer term the system will thrive. Systems that disregard their vulnerable members of society don't seem to make it in the long run.
  12. I honestly thought the coronavirus crisis is an opportunity to leave behind identity politics. However the mayor of Toronto just said this: "Men see face masks as sign of weakness". When the mayor was asked by a journalist to reference his study, his response was “it’s been discussed” and he’s “heard people talk about” the issue. Have all the issues been resolved in Toronto ? In the picture from the parks I have seen both men and women not wearing masks. I guess all other issues were resolved since the mayor has some time for to single out a group in society.
  13. I think there is a higher chance of the virus mutating due to the rate that is spreading at (is not strength of the virus, i am talking about the rate of infection) than everyone coming out at the same time and getting hit by a bus. It only takes the virus to reach one "right person" and if the conditions are there for a mutation it can either be a lower strain of the virus or something like the black death. At the same time keeping a society locked in can have devastating effects. I am looking at my case, I have all the basics needs including the ability to work from home remotely daily however after 10 weeks in and going out maybe once a day it does take its toll mentality. There are a lot of people that don't even have this and is probably even tougher, loss of work and financial uncertainty can lead society to revolutions. There is an ancient curse, I believe is Chinese: "May you live in interesting times". We sure are. The answer is that there is no answer, we will have to adapt each day when something new comes up.
  14. Now it is, how about tomorrow ?I think we are forgetting one important thing which is because there is no vaccine for this virus and it travels so fast, there is a probability of a mutation in which case it can go either way. There is no easy answer how to proceed. I think all these measures are to buy time for that vaccine to come out as soon as possible. I really feel for whoever is in charge regardless of country, the stress that they are under, any decision has to be well thought and plan A plan B and plan C has to be ready in case it does not work out. PS: Toronto, today full parks, here is a picture from CP24:
  15. I have a very good friend of mine that I met through a volunteering position. He is native and struggled with substance abuse when he was on the reservation. He mentioned the amount of hatred daily what he heard about the outside world in there prevented him to get help earlier. He moved by himself to Toronto and now he has his own apartment and works a decent job. The native people are being exploited by these white marxists. friends of @eyeball in the media that daily they make money by dividing people instead of helping the society.
  16. I am not a Dem. Take a few breaths and try to understand that there are people that can disagree with Trump and not be a left winger, Dem, Soros, New World Order. As a matter of fact I probably agree with around 50% of his policies. Your first sign that you might be in a cult, as any group thinking based environment is to take a look at your reaction. When someone from the outside tries to offer a different perspective you call him a DEM and every name under the sun because a cult, when it senses outside opinions that threatens the group, the reaction happens.
  17. So everyone that criticizes Trump is because they get brainwashed by the MSM ? That makes sense Is called critical thinking, something that the extremes lack of. Every time Trump is mentioned your program kicks in to defend him and if I applaud Trump the far left wing program kicks in to criticize them. Basic programming 101 :)))
  18. I criticize Trump when he does stupid things and I say bravo when he does something good. Because that is the beauty of democracy. You get to not be a sheep. In regards to liberalism, i don't belong to a cult or a movement, I am just an individual. In regards to patriotism, I am from Toronto and loyal to Canada, you are from Vancouver and loyal to the USA, sorry, to Trump. I am more of a nationalist than you are.
  19. The person that survives is not necessarily the strongest person it is the person that can adapt to change. What you call globalism is here and is not going away, you can work with different aspects of globalism to be better as an individual in a society. Not everything is about Trump, how can a man be 100 % correct ? Is he God ? Second of all Trump is probably one of the most liberal conservatives in power, this is just propaganda that he uses to brainwash people like you, you think Trump gives a damn for the middle American ? He just told them what they wanted to hear and used people's fears to get elected. The biggest lie was that jobs are being taken by foreigners meanwhile the Artificial Intelligence is doing those jobs. He is a FAKE patriot.
  20. Of course you would not like that picture, you need a picture with a red general in the back. Don't think you are better than the human creatures in the picture, you are just the other side
  21. Here are some other old pictures I found online, who pays these people ??
  22. To be honest if I were to be brainwashed as a left winger and I took a look at Nancy Pelosi, Diane Fenstein & the elites in the entertainment as the leaders (and out of touch with the every day person) & combine that with listening to ugly conservatives like Limbaugh I would probably become a communist and support Bernie Sanders :))))) I empathize to where they are coming from but is sad because in the long run left wing idealists like @eyeball become slaves to a dictator that indirectly they create. Not to mention the reaction that they create after which innocent people suffer. There is even documentation from Germany that the reason the criminal SS was tolerated in the streets by middle class German citizens was because communist mobs were looting and causing trouble. So they kind of closed their eyes and sold their soul to the mafia. My biggest fear are not communists and fascists. they are a small minority of unsatisfied people that failed, and sometimes they failed because of bad luck and they are angry. My biggest fear is the average middle of the road person will be attracted by these messages and their numbers will increase which will lead to social disruption.
  23. I think it has been a confusion. They both mentioned that they will be a revolution however I never said that they agreed which type of populist (right or left) revolution might emerge. That's what the debate was about. That's why I mentioned that either people will fall for a ultra-nationalistic message or a communist message however is not rare to see the extremes together. In France, in the yellow jackets protest there were communist groups side by side with National Front groups. They work together because change of society is attractive to people that are not happy with it.
  24. First of all I did not use the word follower as a bad word, any society has followers and leaders and second, I think it goes both ways, some of us followers would be crackpots if it wasn't for people with ideas better than ours. The 2 sides need each other to have a great system. And we have a great system contrary to what these union communists from this topic say.
  25. When did I say "everyone" ? Don't use propaganda, is not nice.
