And that is one of the biggest lies of his campaign, but people in their fear believed him, he identified the market which is the middle American, he did a PR Job on his product and people bought it. Can't blame them. I mean if you are doing something for generations and generations and someone mentions change you get afraid and frozen but the key is to embrace this change and take advantage of it. My grandma she is 82 years old and she knows how to use a computer, she learnt it in a few weeks. Of course it will be hard, but embracing change is the key to survival.

You see, what you are doing is not rational. Someone tries to change your way of thinking or to make you question that you might be wrong in your assumption you tell him he is suffering from "emotional or intellectual problem". So pretty much because I don't see things the way you see them there must be something wrong with me. That reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend that her life is hating Trump and I asked her "Do you agree with Trump that he closed the borders because of the coronavirus ?" Her answer: "NO!". She did not even think about it. She heard the word Trump, I hate him, for sure is bad what he did. That is thinking based on emotion, not each individual fact.

I was talking about North American political spectrum in this case USA, not sure where Hitler fits in this, is that your secret weapon ? when you can't admit you might be wrong on certain things in our democratic system: like criminal reform signed and approved by Trump that done more for minorities than Barack Obama ever did.

My friend, don't you realize when you bring stuff up like this and put your name as a conservative, it will be less votes to your party. People that decide elections which are middle of the roaders look at this and I still have yet to read facts only conspiracy theories and how you don't agree with some things in Muskoka ?? I voted conservative in the past but it was for strong reasons not because I was scared of the "bad evil globalists".

Morning, It works better when you disagree with someone, if you consider yourself rational maybe engage with facts rather than highschool sarcasm. I am not like yourself, I am open to opposing ideas, that's the root of progress. Politics is like we are blind in a room and is a big table there. Some people touch different sides of the table. If we don't talk to each other how can we get the full picture ? Some people touch only one side and think they got the full picture, right.

I am a big fan of technological advancement and welcome it to better my job however there will be a major change in society as Artificial Intelligence will take more and more jobs. I watched a very good documentary is called In the Age of AI on PBS, I highly recommended it. At the end I understood how Trump realized that the biggest fear of Middle America is job loss and people are afraid. He knew what to say and towards who to say to win, even though the idea of bringing jobs back is such an unknown, the main issue here is not really outsourcing, is AI. Even if you hate Trump, I mean if you were living in Middle America and you are out of a job with a family to provide for would you not vote for someone that assures you that will be ok ? Anyone that had generations and generations of people working in factories, truck drivers will be replaced by machines and so on. Millions of people will be left uncertain to provide for their family. Is basic income a solution ? What are your predictions regarding the impact that AI will have in our society, from politics to our every day life ? I will start by answering by saying: I don't agree at all with the basic income idea, it was the same idea in communism it breaks the desire of the human being to succeed, the individual should be encouraged to change, government should focus on training programs and you know sometimes a little fear and insecurity can push you to succeed. I am on the positive side with this one, in the long run technology will benefit us however we should definitely brace for some social disruption. and more populism from both sides.

I have to tell you I love this forum, it sure helps with this isolation and working from home. My circle of friends that I talk politics with are moderate like myself always open to change their mind by analyzing the facts and admiting when wrong Lots of extremists in this group (both left and ring). I think people become extreme in their views because they just can't admit that they are wrong in some cases. Is pride. Maybe extremism is a strong word, but I am referring to the way of thinking. When I have discussions with people that say they are left wing or right wing I do a simple test: I ask the left winger what he thinks of Trump and the right winger what he thinks of George Soros. If they start saying that everything that they do is evil in my book they are extreme. Even a broken clock is right twice a day like come on. How can a man be 100% right or 100% wrong all the time ? No rational thinking.

What about the fact that under Donald Trump legislation drafted by Jared Kushner the biggest criminal reform in US history was done and helped a lot of people get of jail (mostly minorities, I guess he was not a racist then) and that Obama deported more people than Trump did, I guess that failed to report on MSNBC. Don't think MSNBC or CNN are better than Fox, all of them divide a country by coming 24/7 on the TV and state their opinion. Try watching some news report from the 80's or 90's strictly news not BIAS right or left. Is hard to see who started it all, is like the chicken or the egg however action = reaction :). Trump is not a racist, he worships at the altar of MONEY, he just plays the music to whatever group wants to hear it. You wait to see the book deals he will get after his presidency. I mean Obama did get a 16 million dollar book deal, Bernie has 2 houses and 1 cottage, is good business to talk about RACISM (SO I CAN BE ON TOPIC).

True freedom is when you realize that no man is perfect because if you don't do that you are on the road to a dictatorship. Trump is flawed, of course we see his flaws more than others since the establishment hates him so much and when you have 24/7 msnbc and cnn saying the same thing is called brainwashing; but please he sees you like a business like a client and he is telling you everything you want to hear so you can buy his product. So you are brainwashed too. We all are in a way.

Yes if the conservatives tone down their immigration talking points Trudeau might find that immigration will not work in his favour. I know from people that work for immigration. Is just a PR job that Canada welcomes all immigrants, he says sometimes he can see the Canadian immigration system stricter than in USA. Trump talks loudly and screams WALL WALL another PR job for his base. Politics is a game ot the mind, who can brainwash who.

For the above post, my friend you need to get out and meet people. The majority of immigrants just want a good life for their family. My first job a muslim hired me and a jewish person helped me in my lowest point and once you witness stuff like this you will realize is not really that simple how Breitbart says it. People are people. The majority of immigrants are being used by left wing groups to gain political power. I never understood why right wing groups don't go to reach out more to immigrants because they can gain so much political capital as majority of immigrants are very conservative in their family life. Let me leave you with this line: It is not the strongest who can survive, is the one that can adapt to change. The world is changing.

We live in capitalism, I can guarantee you that if companies are using BIAS OR AFFIRMATIVE ACTION (don't try to pretend the other side of the coin does not exist). My point is if they are using the above 2 tactics at the end of the day is PRODUCTION, how hard you work, if you come late to work and so on. How does race play a part in this ? At the end of the year the person does not matter if he is blue is judged by the quality of his or her work. This is for the private sector where the real work is. We are not priviliged like the government workers to have job stability and get a fat pension for wasting time (not everyone, lots of good people in the goverment).

You know what is funny, if there is a white privilege system you know who is benefiting from it ? It is the white elitists lecturing everyone else about racism. They are very smart, you keep telling people to blame other poor white people while you maintain your high position. The middle white American for example, you think they are benefiting from white privilege ? They are broke due to atomization, generations of families all they did is work in a factory and now technology is taking their jobs and is very hard for them to retrain. So if I was a broke white guy from middle America and I can not provide for my family and I listen every day to the media, I listen to people like T-Dot and bush-cheney calling me racist every day of course they would vote for someone like Trump. As a matter of fact next time they might elect someone that will make Trump look like a teddy bear. So of course it sells and is good for far left groups to turn minorities against poor whites and other way around. The key is the economics, no matter where we are if we try to be the best we can be there is always going to be opportunity so we can provide for our family: is called hard work, even if it's a job at Tim Hortons or working in a big corporation, if you are serious and responsible no matter if you are white or a minority you will move up.

Yes, the key is from within, the individual building a family life and strong parenting. Someone told me once a story that when the Jewish people came to North America the young were involved in gang activity, the jewish mafia was quite a presence. What happened ? The elders, strong families united, I mean nobody can argue with the progress made by that generation here (unless you are Alex Jones), for example the software writen for deep learning for Artificial Intelligence was written by a Jewish person in Quebec I believe. Is also fair to mention that the Jewish people did recieve war compensation from Europe but Abraham Lincoln promised African-Americans: Forty acres and a mule is part of Special Field Orders No. 15, a post-Civil War promise however he never delivered.

Toronto Vancouver plus I hung out in Montreal once for about 9 weeks = All in Canada. In order to see where you are you need a reference point. How can you see how good you have it when you have not been outside to see how the world is ?. Go to Russia and talk to them about racism, or to China what they are doing with the Muslim Community, India, Africa (slavery still exists) and then when you come back to Canada I will guarantee you will kiss the ground. Please consider watching this new documentary on youtube search PBS Frontline Undercover China it will give you a glimpse to what is outside Canada.

My friend was born and lived as a Muslim until like 30 something years old, he came into Canada and now every time we debate politics/religion he hates his former religion. However Islam was founded 600 years after the founding of Christianity. Where was Christianity 600 years ago ? and with technology access I think the reformation in the Muslim community will be faster in a few generations. Ramadan Mubarak

Good evening, name one law in Canada and USA where someone of minority status is not giving a fair chance. The problem is what you are doing, people like yourself that call Canada racist or the USA racist, you are creating movements like MAGA or other far right movements that are growing in numbers. Why ? Because people react, it goes both ways too, when racism is up, more far left groups like Antifa are growing in numbers. To say Canada is racist means you have not travelled. One of my friends is Algerian, he says when he walks the streets of Vancouver he smells freedom and people smile. When he was in France it was hard for him to go into a store to buy food without getting the looks, and he is an educated man.

Hamilton ? I actually have been there once to a mall square something, shocking to be honest, no offence to Hamilton residents. -
Slavery is one of the biggest trauma in history however if the focus is ONLY on the trauma's atrocities overcoming the actual trauma it will be so much harder. A lot of people come in Canada and succeed, a lot of people come and don't succeed and I guess is easier to have something or someone to blame for your failures. Is human nature. We blame everyone except ourselves.

I am baffled how people in Canada and USA, or to say better the media always beats the drum of racism. I think at the end is all economics, it sells good to give people an excuse if their life is not going well. Instead of giving them motivation to succeed the press tends to just blame racism and that harms the individual. As a legal immigrant from Eastern Europe I came in with speaking limited English, there were comments made in high school, of course they were, but I kept my head down and learnt the language, got a job and pay my taxes. The press, immigrants, academia, SJW don't understand one concept. A lot of immigrants don't want to adapt in their new country and of course is hard for them because an equal reaction will come from the society. Is physics, equal action = equal reaction. My dad forbid me to speak my language in my house, just English and that helped me a lot to be accepted by the society. And regarding slavery, yes, it is probably one of the most disgusting things ever done by man to man however that still goes on in certain places of the Earth, like Africa. Maybe we should focus our energy there. In North America people can never move on to succeed if they focus on the pain of the past. Unless your a communist that has no respect for local traditions, everyone else should understand that the racism issue is not that much an issue but a propaganda machine to make some money by dividing people. The average person in every group just wants better economic situation, help them achieve that by motivation not by giving them an excuse to not try anymore and just "blame racism".

You who know what really bothers me. The clown that is president down south, at the beginning he said that "this is a democratic hoax" YET HE CLOSED THE BORDER before Trudeau did. If I remember correctly it was several days until Canada closed it like the US did. I guess the fax at CSIS was not working that week.

Housing Market in the big cities
Independent1986 replied to Independent1986's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"Capitalism is the worst economic system, except for all the others that have been tried." We have been through the alternative in Eastern Europe. I remember my mom telling me stories how she had all this money but no eggs to buy, "for the people" created more damage than the status quo. So how does one society change a system but not go fully to the socialistic communistic spectrum ? -
I normally don't engage with fanatics regardless If they are left or right but I can give you a list: "the most liberal progressive measurements for the criminal justice system was done by Jared Kushner with the full backing of Donald Trump, the lowest unemployment was achieved in 40 years and no major war. " You have to look into these issues deep down to understand there is a difference between how someone talks and what his policy is and what things are being done. People like you just look into Trump's mouth 24/7 and they latch out with whatever stupidity he says and jump on forums to make fun of Turmp voters. I had a friend once he said to me it is harder to come to Canada as a refugee than in the USA however because Trump says things a certain way it looks like the US does not allow anybody. It is all a PR job to satisfy his base but is hard for you to understand these things because you only look at the surface. My father is an engineer I love looking at things with details. Because you are a person that is driven by emotions not by facts which makes you not intelligent, it is never too late to understand that the key to freedom is not swearing at Trump 24/7 is to see politics as flawed done by flawed people, and they do good and bad things. When they do good things that's great when they do bad we have a democratic system which allows you to vote and criticize someone.

Housing Market in the big cities
Independent1986 replied to Independent1986's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, and this explains the rise of the populist left, creepy old men like Bernie that speaks a language familiar to us eastern Europeans, it sounds good but in practice it does not work, it creates a disaster. I said it for years if the system does not correct itself we risk having a major change, that's why populists from the left and right are rising.
