  1. The point I was trying to make is that nowadays is irrelevant who has the truth because at the end of the day every human being goes through life and reaches certain conclusions which he or she thinks is the truth and that is precisely why the Western democracies as flawed as they are, they are great, it never allows an individual to have complete power to impose his truth. Systems like China & Russia might thrive short term but in the long term they will most likely fail because human beings on the individual level are unique and will not accept an "universal truth" determined by Xi or Putin. Of course, but I like to look beyond the dictators, straight to the root of the problem: in 1970's when the communist Ceausescu was leader in Romania, my father used to tell me that people loved him. He came with a message similar to Bernie Sanders: equality, peace, no outside war, no class separation, free schooling. People of course went along with this, but what happened: The individual being unique, worked harder or had better ideas than his neighbor and did not agree with the same conditions. Because the system did not allow the individual to express himself corruption started to appear. Ceausescu seeing this could not understand why people don't want to be communist, EQUAL so he started arming the young to enforce "equality". The rest of the story is that the chaos created starvation. Do you imagine waiting 2 hours in line to get 1 egg ? In the west we have the luxury to argue and have competing ideas, some of them based on lies or on our BIAS, some of them based on truth. Is good that free elections exists here so we can penalize the individuals that seem to use BIAS and lie in their governing. Like Trump talking about coronavirus treatment meanwhile he has no medical background or Bernie Sanders talking about income inequality meanwhile he has 2 houses and 1 cottage.
  2. With all due respect sir, if you are in military, last time I checked the Canadian Military, which has one of the highest pay in the world is being funded by the tax payers, by us people that WORK IN CANADA and if we are in the private industry we pay through our nose in taxes. I do respect the military, but the soldier is taught to be loyal to his country not a foreign power even if it is an allied. Is this attitude quite normal in the Canadian Forces ? Just curios.
  3. The only weakness is the U.S. debt to China = $1.07 trillion as of December 2019.
  4. Exactly, you spend the money and we enjoy the peace, for free. So we are taking advantage of you, I mean if I own a business and the security is done by another business for free why worry about it ? We let that for the Bushes, Cheney, Obama, Bill Clinton, Trump. On behalf of Canadians we do thank you. God Save the Queen. Close your eyes and imagine Dick Cheney then imagine the Queen it will help you understand the difference between our 2 nations.
  5. We will, all of us that are working from morning - night to survive professionally in these uncertain times, after all this passes even if we make it we will a get a big reward: "Higher taxes". Who cares about that though, students are important, especially those in social studies classes. Is it true by the way that tuition is free now too ?? 10 years it took me to pay my student loan. I wish Trudeau was PM then, I could have bought a house now :)))
  6. I love how you only quoted the some media/Marxists (not sure why you put them together), you left the Trump cult members out of that I guess that did not serve your narrative. Just to prove my point regarding propaganda, there is something called a dictionary: PROPAGANDA - information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. I still don't get it why are you getting worked up over this, you can believe in whatever what you want to believe in, I mean anyone that would read your quotes from the topic regarding capitalism can draw their own conclusion. I think is hilarious you called me a yahoo, I don't get worked up over it though because is not true, is like looking at someone skinny and calling him fat. You only get upset if it's true. I will tell you what, there is a story about a Jewish rabbi that was trying to get along 2 aspects of Israeli society and at one point he said: "Both sides of any disagreement are usually right in their own way." We sometimes judge the world through our personal experiences, I am guilty of that having witnessed the effects of communism in my family in my way I am right to what I am saying. Who knows what experiences you had that makes you have this attitude and in your own way you are right and that goes for all human beings which is why the system in the West is perfect, it never allows a person to have complete power like pol pot :))))
  7. Rabble rousing is a factor but also capitalism needs to stay on course so it does not give fuel to these radicals. In communism only a few people stay on top and the rest are given a bit. If today I decide to start my own social media company, can I compete with Facebook ? Twitter ? They will crush me. It looks to me we are heading towards the same model, a few people on top and the rest are given a bit. What about AIG Insurance getting the biggest welfare cheque in American History ? Oh sorry, I forgot, they are too big to fail, here comes socialism to the rescue. These are important questions a capitalist like myself reflects because without self reflection there can't be any improvement and without improvement and correction you have the agitators of society in the streets with Karl Marx's picture.
  8. The percentage of so called "yahoos" in any group in North America is marginal, just because some media, your Marxists friends and some Trump's cult members that drink Lysol say otherwise does not make it true. You look around America and Canada in this coronavirus crisis you see people helping people, individual helping individual which is bad news for the above groups, time to have a few meetings and make a plan, what if people learn that this division is mostly propaganda ? One of the best stories I heard about a new immigrant mother, she was in isolation and her food was running out but she did not want to tell her neighbours to not "bother them". It is an immigrant mentality, my parents have it too. When nobody came with food for 2-3 days, the neighbours called her and they were shocked that she did not ask. You know what the neighbours did ? they rushed out and bought her lots of food. This is who the majority of people are.
  9. That's like the chicken or the egg question. You ask someone on the other side they will tell you the same thing. I think if we talk to each other rather than about each other you have a better chance for understanding.
  10. When you see these kind of statements about a group of people why are you surprised of the reaction (Trump's election, far right rising) ? When you talk down to people from a moral high ground you think they will invite you over for tea to exchange ideas ? No, people become radicalized because of people like you. Start looking at yourself first before you lecture other people, you are no better than those "pigheaded yahoos". As a matter of fact you need each other to still be relevant.
  11. Any rational person can understand your number 1 point however the way politics is heading I am afraid more people in fear and pride will jump to the both extremes and be comfortable there in their safe space. It is a great show to watch, people thinking they are always correct, before it was "let's debate" now is: "you are evil, I am good".
  12. Why is it that some people that flee oppression and terrible systems after a few years in the west they start complaining about the system here ? The nation is like a house. Canada is a house, you or your family made a decision to come here like my family. Why is it that your instinct is to change and criticize the house ? and is not to adapt to how the house is ? Because contrary to other houses I think Canada is too welcoming. Stop complaining. Get a job (any work is decent, I started lifting boxes and working in greenhouses), pay your taxes and pass something positive to someone else. Is hard to do that when all day you are surrounded by people that tell you the reason you are not doing well is because of R A C I S M. They grow rich and you stay down being satisfied with that excuse.
  13. Unity ? The far right is busy blaming George Soros and the big bad globalists and the far left can't wait for the economy to crash so they can offer people: S O C I A L I S M. It is so funny in the area that I live there are big posters: DON'T PAY YOUR RENT and at the bottom were instructions on how to apply for that 2,000$ a month pay. So wait, if people are getting 2,000$ a month from the government what is stopping them to negotiate with the landlord or pay their rent ?
  14. There is a lot of propaganda against Muslims is true and is also true that some areas there they live like in the middle ages with barbaric practices but: 600 years after the founding of Christianity Islam was formed. Where was Christianity 600 years ago ? Judaism had as well way more time to reform. Like my Muslim friend says, the way to progress in the Middle East is to let us fight it out how you Europeans did it and then we will come out better educated. You get tired fighting each other. How can you do that when there is so much political interest in the region ? Oil ? Money ? Safety of Israel ? I am just stating the reality. So sure let's complain about the barbarism of some members of Islam but is not really only this.
  15. Good evening, yes I agree there are problems with capitalism. In a true capitalistic system I should be able to start my own social media company and compete with Facebook. Can you do that today ? Of course not. This situation makes capitalism look like communism which is a few people on top and the majority of people at the bottom. There's no denying this and this comes from a true believer in capital, it explains how someone like Bernie Sanders, a man that never produced anything in his life to have so much political power. There has to be a solution or else I would not be surprised for the younger generations to do just that and there are lots of lazy people like Bernie Sanders that can't wait to dangle the worm of socialism in front of them and if you are still living with your parents and don't have independence why not take it ?
  16. Please post your best jokes (or real life stories) about politics, it can be federal politics (so we can keep it on topic), provincial politics or international politics, let's have some laughs and keep it decent My dad lived in the Transylvanian region of Romania under the the man of the people Ceausescu. One day at university they called him in the office and 1 militia/securitatea member was there. This is how the conversation went: Communist: "We heard you were telling jokes about Ceausescu". And they gave him the piece of paper with the joke: Is 6 am in the morning, Ceausescu gets up - Everyone needs to get up Is 6:15 am in the morning, Ceausescu is brushing his teeth - Everyone needs to brush their teeth Is 6:30 in the morning, Ceausescu is exercising - Everyone needs to exercise Is 7 am in the morning, Ceausescu is sitting to eat break fast - FOR EVERYONE ELSE: MUSIC
  17. I think the democrats should force Cuomo on the scene at the convention or else 4 more years for sure for Trump. Bernie voters will never vote for 2 establishment democrats and she is also not liked in the minority community for her stance on crime and imprisoning people for weed there in California. Not to mention the Jerry Brown scandal. Terrible pick if it is official. The democrats have not learnt a single thing from Hillary's defeat. I think some of them knew by destroying the man of the people Bernie they will be handing Trump the victory.
  18. I have no idea if Trump did the right thing in this case however just his impulses really to just take fast decisions is off the chart during this pandemic. He is not a president for this kind of crisis, he thrives in political fights not in uniting people at the emotional level. I watched a documentary about his upbringing, when his brother died of alcoholism he was sitting at the table with his dad and his dad told him "Your brother was not a strong person, let's move on". That's how he sees the world, unfortunately people this time won't forgive that easy if he makes a decision to open up the country early and more people will die. Is very good the way the system in the USA is designed so no branch of government can ever achieve absolute power including the president because if Trump ever had the kind of power that Putin has for example oh man :))
  19. I think what the AI will do will force people to think outside of their union safe spaces and increase creativity. I have faith in the individual, they just need to stay away from agitators that tells them every day how bad a capitalist is. Well we all know that human beings will never accept the minimalistic way of life, I mean like come on the ideas of Karl Marx made more victims than the ideas of religion. The definition of insanity is to try the same thing all over again expecting different results. I mean you probably would have to change the human DNA. BUT …. here comes your opportunity: The AI maybe after researching Mr. Marx they will be inclined to agree with his ideas and will send AI police to arrest all the capitalists. There is hope. All workers (AI and Humans) Unite !
  20. Steve Banon said once: Either we will have a left wing or a right wing populist revolution based exactly on what you wrote. That's because a lot of people when they get afraid they jump into groups, that right wing populist was Trump, if the democrat establishment machine was not that powerful, we might've had a left wing populist: the guy that has 2 houses and 1 cottage, man of the people: Bernie Sanders. What is wrong with pointing to the individual that he is capable of change ? and that is the responsibility of the younger generations to talk to the affected generations and let them know it will be ok and assist them in different views. Why always the easy route: to cry out for the government to tax those "capitalistic pigs" that dared to have ideas. I wonder if you would think the same if you were in a business that put a lot of money on the line to invest in this technology.
  21. I am not even going to search for another graph. From 2016 to 2020 let's suppose Trump did something to change the situation it will not make a difference because from 2010 to 2020 the advance in AI increased the productivity as well by way more.
  22. I was talking about the quality of the numbers, not the quality of the American workers. I am saying that the unemployment numbers have quantity, are high, however the quality of the part time jobs are not good in terms of pay.
  23. Quantity yes, Quality no. More productivity, hourly compensation is going down because people are working 2-3 part time and that explains for the great unemployment numbers. The title of this chart: "Workers shut out of productivity", the chart fails to mention that the reason productivity is high is because companies invested a lot of money in the AI technology and it worked out.
  24. Repetition is the best tool for people to accept facts over emotion . You repeat yourself too, how many times did you Trump is a horrible human being. When humans beings strongly believe about something we tend to repeat ourselves.
  25. The reason the unemployment number is so low because people are working 2-3 jobs PART TIME jobs. Quantity yes, Quality no. I am willing to compromise that big companies that are laying off workers to assist with the change in career but at the end the individual has to want to adapt to something else, a different career. There is also unemployment to assist. This idea for everyone to share the benefits from AI forever. Why ? those investors and those companies are paying big money as an investment towards the technology, they are taking a risk and they can also loose. This communistic idea to share the profit across the board never understood. Let's say we all share when we make profit, sure. But what happens when is the other way around. If the investors and the companies loose, I guess then is their fault only they should deal with it right ?
