  1. Of course not, you seem more loyal to the United States & Donald Trump than your own nation, "To each its own" its an old Talmudic saying my Israeli friend uses when we argue opposite political points
  2. I think I will be switching from the duo CBC - NATIONAL POST to MacLeans - Globe and Mail, especially the morning readings, their articles are more balanced, thanks.
  3. That's something I never heard but get help from whom ? Is there more help than what this country is offering ? I am curious what else can be done.
  4. I thought that the Toronto Sun is the Fox News of Canada. I tried reading the Toronto Sun or there was a left wing borderline communist newspaper called METRO in the TTC, now they changed it. I challenge any moderate to pick up the Toronto SUN or this METRO and try to understand their point of view on majority of topics. I gave up, can't do it.
  5. Is there such thing as a centrist non-bias newspaper ? I am so sick of reading the CBC then the National Post and spend several minutes to think about why are they saying something ? Always looking for tools to save myself some time.
  6. Just proves the point that prostitution is more honorable than some jobs in the media.
  7. Yes articles in the CBC, Globe, National Post, Sun. Of course every group now is using this to make political points. CBC is with the protestors, Toronto Sun with Ford, the media are assuming their roles as sheep instead of discussing it like we are here.
  8. Imagine all this debate in the media and the flag is just upside down by mistake ? highly doubt it in this case but it would be the definition of fake news
  9. May you post that study ? I am curious to read it.
  10. What marines in Atlanta ? Of course they have the right to protest, the same goes with the militia members in Michigan. As long as the law states that who is to say otherwise ? It is just surprising how quick we turn on our country when things get bad, that goes for both sides.
  11. Is beautiful day in Toronto today, is important to feel good To be fair yes, is good you mentioned those things because yes was important for me to specify: "origins doubt and illegal part", I was thinking about that but I did not write them down. You see, your idea helps me calibrate my idea. Now I wrote it down and we came to a somewhat middle point. That's what conversation is about.
  12. I updated my main post so you can feeeel good: PS: Nobody said it is illegal or it should be illegal, I am a citizen that have an opinion about other citizens actions. At the end they can do whatever they want with their private property. I am not part of anti fa or the alt right to impose my point of view on people.
  13. 1. That's why I said "most likely born here" leaving room to I might be wrong, your doing Political Correctness, "how dare I pass judgment on someone's origins. " 2. Nobody said it is illegal or it should be illegal, I am a citizen that have an opinion about other citizens actions. At the end they can do whatever they want with their private property. I am not part of anti fa or the alt right to impose my point of view on people. 3. 7.99$ ??
  14. I agree more with: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." and by doing that I found out it works better for the individual when you think about something bigger than yourself.
  15. Picture from Global News This was in Toronto yesterday, the Canadian flag upside down by two people that most likely were born and lived here their entire life. I said most likely so I might be wrong, my apology to the Political Correctness crowd on both sides for speculating on someone's origins. If this is the case, it proves to me again the point that loving your country has nothing to do with being born in a country how some ultra nationalists on the right try to tell us (I am aware of the danger of ultra nationalism). I came here as an immigrant and the immigrants that I know will never dare to put the Canadian flag upside down. Why ? Because we have seen other systems and we are thankful that this great country allowed us to come here and be part of this society. Looking to hear other opinions and different points of view on this topic PS: Nobody said it is illegal or it should be illegal, I am a citizen that have an opinion about other citizens actions. At the end they can do whatever they want with their private property. I am not part of anti fa or the alt right to impose my point of view on people. @eyeball Is that you in the back ? Joking, good morning
  16. Oh and that they did: China: 82 million dead USSR: more than 21 million dead North Korea: 4.6 million dead Vietnam: 3.8 million dead Cambodia: 2.4 million dead Afghanistan: 1.5 million dead Yugoslavia: 1,172,000 dead Germany: 815,000 dead Mozambique: 729,000 dead Ethiopia: 725,000 dead Romania: 435,000 dead Czechoslovakia: 262,082 dead Venezuela: more than 252,000 dead Poland: more than 235,000 dead Hungary: 210,000 dead Angola: 125,000 dead Colombia: 105,419 dead Albania: 100,000 dead Rhodesia / Zimbabwe: more than 50,000 dead Laos: 45,000 dead Bulgaria: 31,150 dead Cuba: 73,000 dead Peru: 37,840 dead Mongolia: 35,000 dead Philippines: 22,799 dead Greece: 15.401 dead
  17. Of course life was not better at the beginning because the same communists managed to infiltrate in the system to maintain some sort of power but at least people had freedom, you could walk down the street without worrying who will report you for making a joke or dared to have free ideas. Is so easy to read Das Kapital and think you found the solution to all the problems but every time it was applied it was a disaster. Why ? Because human beings are not machines to program them all to think one way.
  18. Well some of us have real life experience. Like I could tell you stories about the Eastern European bloc how my grandma used to get up in the morning and wait 2 hours in line to get 1 egg. Milk was gourmet food. All because we have to show those capitalistic countries that we have no debt! Oh sure, that is just a dictatorship you will say, but if you read some history and have the ability to do critical thinking you will realize it all starts with the same garbage: "equality, everyone together to sing kumbaya". And regarding the healthcare my grandma put it well: "Healthcare was free then, yes, but when your number 1 concern was to not starve do you think I had time to get sick" ? The road to hell is paved with good intentions, who would not want in theory for everyone to be equal, but in a practical term humans beings are unique, different, some are lazy some are hard workers, some have ideas that provide the work. Sure there are problems in capitalism, companies are becoming more monopolistic but please stop with the workers of the world unite. The definition of insanity is to try the same thing all over again and to expect different results. I am sure you will do it differently this time and you will show those capitalistic pigs how is done. Not sure which system created more victims: communism or fanatical religion, both examples of systems in which people lose their rational thinking.
  19. Money is good here especially the welfare system.
  20. I am afraid in Canada we are becoming tolerant to intolerance. Just the fact that the above individual is talking about how women should dress shows you no matter how kind, welcoming and understanding we are in this country some people insist to bring their medieval beliefs in. And what is shocking, do you know who defends people like Marocc, social studies students that call themselves feminists, they smoke a few joints and they call you a racist for pointing that out. I am a positive person and I will end with this: When you take the TTC daily to work for years you see stuff, I remember this one day I was sitting across from this mom (in hijab) with 2 kids. The 2 kids were talking perfect English and were showing the mom how to use a dictionary app on a tablet to translate from Arabic to English. Everyone was smiling around, I was thinking to myself this is Canada man. @Marocc I guess when your expectations are so high and you come here thinking you will be like a CEO or something is probably easier to deal with it by taking refuge in whatever program you were brainwashed when you were young.
  21. I normally make a coffee every morning when I start working, this morning I wil skip it, I just read the above statement and I am good to go. Your friend, did he talked directly to Trump or just Pence ?
  22. What really worries me is that China is not reporting their numbers so is hard to have a reference point to go by for the timeline. If we go out too early and we are forced to go back in it will cripple the economy even more and stuff like this: https://toronto.citynews.ca/video/2020/04/23/i-lost-my-house-everything-restaurant-owner-says-coronavirus-has-forced-him-out-of-business/ will become normal. There was an interview on the TV with a South Korean doctor and at one point the interviewer asked him "When will this end?". The response was "this is science" and I was expecting an academic response but he continued: "this is science, it is unpredictable what will happen, our best chance is to remain humble and do our best".
  23. That's what I meant, I support outlawing as well, I was just being ironic with "legal bribery" term and the vetting part. It is also the danger for certain lobbying groups to be foreign influenced.
  24. So basically whoever has the money can go in private with a politician to try to influence him in regards to an issue, more like a legal bribery. I am sure there is vetting before someone gets approved as lobbying group no ? This is one issue that I'll admit I don't know anything about. I knew the lobbying groups in USA are very strong, I recall Obama was too afraid to take on the NRA because he knew politically he would lose on the next elections, I was not aware that in Canada the lobbying groups are as active. There has to be another argument from the other side, maybe a legal reason why this is not for public access ?
  25. I was discussing in another topic with someone else and this idea of outlawing in-camera lobbying came up. I heard this before in another discussion outside of this forum and I am curious to learn about it. Can someone explain the specifics of In-camera lobbying and why it should stay legal or not ?
