It's a difficult cross to bear. I think part of it is why we are on the board in the first place. I am here to try and debate issues. Sometimes people immediately see debate as an affront and resort to insults. I tend to fight back when insulted, which isn't a good thing for making friends on a messge board.

Ahh, you gotta love irony.

Overstated some finer points? Several hours in code red would be insane. If even once Calgary or Edmonton had been in code red for several hours there most likely would have been dozens of preventable deaths. Ohhh, it was several minutes. That is far, far more than merely some finer points. I don't understand why you are standing up for HP newbie? If the rules of the board allowed it I would get into it with him. However, Greg has made it very clear that he wants a certain level of decorum maintained on this board. Given that Greg is going through a pretty important (and time consuming) period in his life I think we owe it to him to respect his wishes. I have seen the offences that Greg does ban people for. I would bet anything that HP is Scarascof who has snuck back on the board. Who do you think takes the most abuse on these boards?

I was thinking of that name. Who was it that used the *Sloopy Bull* one in the past. I am sure it is a former incarnation (likely banned) of The Honest Politician. Newbie, how exactly was I being a bully? I really don't understand that at all.

There is a big difference between grammatical mistakes and flat out lying. You are guilty of both. There is no reason to do my own research when your *evidence* proved what you said was wrong. Boy, good for you Greg is tied up with more important business or you would definitely be gone.
-
Let's see, I called bullsh*t on this quote. The unbelieveable part being no ambulances available for several hours. So you respond with this quote and *evidence*. According to this evidence Childish insults aside HP you really should be somewhat credible. Several hours with no ambulance service ... my arse.

Because you asked, I provided an example of a left-wing bias from Strombolopolous Do show an example of even *one* right-wing bias on the part of the CBC. You get how it would have to be an example of a Martin *flip-flop* on an issue that would make him look bad to the right. Just give the issue, the commentator/show it took place on and an approximate time.

*If* your news story was true it would be quite the damnation. Let's put it through the credibility test. Both Edmonton and Calgary are cities right around the million mark, counting the suburbs. You honestly mean to say one (or both) of them had no ambulances available for *several* hours? This wasn't a national story??? Come one. Lying that big definitely hurts your credibility. Wow, with such well thought-out and considered criticism I think you have hit the nail on the head. Harper clearly is a bad guy because you say he is full of shit and a *greasy*, *slimy* used car salesman. We get the point. You are angry about losing the election. There is nothing Harper could do to correct his image in your eyes. Have fun stewing in your own anger until fall of 2008 at least.

Dirt on the Conservatives goes here.

Idiot or not public service announcments do work. That being said, it is fair to see they don't have to be as in your face as the ones posted earlier... -
George Stombolopolous "The Hour". During the leadup to Gulf War 2 Stephen Harper said that while he thought Canada should participate it probably couldn't due to troop commitments in Afghanistan and a "stretched-to-the-limit" military. During the election Harper repeated that Canada would not go to Iraq. The main reason he gave was because our military does not have the capacity to participate. Stombolopolous called it a *flip-flop*. Hmmm, definitely an attack on Harper as indecisveness is always attacked. But where was the flip-flop?

Is it really impractical or just a sense of entitlement on the part of CBC employees that they couldn't be expected to find their own funding? It isn't easy for PBS to get funding from private sources, but they do it. The CBC would have to make some serious decisions, but if it were get funding or shut down, MotherCorp would exist in some form.
-
Completely agreed, but I think you miss the point. Supporters of the CBC would claim you are misguided. It isn't *your* tax dollars once you have paid your income taxes. It has magically become *government money*. Money you no longer have any control over. Only the government has control at that point. Besides, if they actually went to the people the CBC would shut down very quickly after it sold off its sports programming...

How long will the Harper government last?
shoop replied to YankAbroad's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's quite the agenda to pass in short order. Don't know if they could get all of that done so quickly. Besides they would have to do someting on Defence before the next election. -
Great knee-jerk response VK. She didn't appeal to Geoffrey so you accuse him of racist reasoning without any support. Good work.

Harper must be banging his head after this quote
shoop replied to lonewolf's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A big part of why this has gotten *so* much attention is that Parliament isn't sitting and it started before the Olympics when nothng else was going on. This thing has definitely been pushed off the front pages. Between the Olympics, the British soldiers beating those civilians, the hockey betting scandal and Cheney shooting his hunting partner this story will die down very quickly. In spite of the NDP-lead citizen protests to the contrary. I gotta wonder why Harper didn't just name McKay Minister of DFAIT then bring Emerson in during the spring or fall? -
Her appearance fee is in the $5K to $10K range? wtf?
