  1. The GOP love him about as much as they loved GWB in his heyday, so much for #nevertrump, more fake news the media couldn't help but hype. The whole time the Democrats have been more divided than Republicans, but the media don't want to cover that.
  2. No they aren't. The only Americans who want to go around the EC, are butthurt democrats, it's going nowhere. Canada is not a democracy. It's Constitutional Monarchy, big difference.
  3. 2020 reminds me a lot of 2004. Prepare for the Democrats to nominate a Kerry type candidate, Trump to get easily re-elected, and Canada to have a cow. A lot of the media's criticisms of Trump are simply copy and pasted from their attacks on Dubya, they said he stole the election too, and they were sure he was going down in 2004. Trump Derangement Syndrome is simply Bush Derangement Syndrome on steroids, a lot of similarities there.
  4. Trump is getting re-elected, just watch him.
  5. I laugh at Trump too, he's effin funny. He's the funniest president in my lifetime, and probably the funniest president of all time, or at least top five. Best media troll ever to top it off.
  6. You are in favor of the EC, you just don't know what the EC is, so you think you are against it. 48 states and DC already award their electors the way you want them to, that's way more than 12. You've already won, only two states do it in a way you disapprove of. Owly loves the EC, Owly just doesn't know that Owly love it.
  7. You're a big fish in a small pond over here, bush_cheney2004. It ain't what you taking, it's who you taking it from. You feel me? How you expect to run with the wolves come night, when you spend all day sparring with the puppies? Omar Knows.
  8. They already do that. That's what the Electoral College is dude. 48 of the 50 states and DC do it, Maine and Nebraska are the only outliers. The ignorance is impressive. You are literally arguing in favor of the Electoral College, while claiming you are arguing against it, because you don't even know what it is, and have it confused for something else entirely. So funny.
  9. Trump is greatest media troll ever, the media then trolls the public for Trump, and this is the result. Sick of all the winning yet bush_cheney2004?
  10. Every state would have to do it, or some states would still apportion their votes by popular vote within the state. The Republican states certainly aren't going to be keen on getting rid of it at the state level, that I can tell you.
  11. Going around it is harder than getting rid of it, and getting rid of it is hard enough. /shrugs If a bunch of states would rather apportion their EC votes based on the way the entire country voted, instead of just how their state voted, while pretty much every other state apportions their votes based on who the voters of the state voted for, that's going to play into Republicans hands.
  12. The Electoral College is in the Constitution. Can't get rid of it, if it's still in the constitution.
  13. Every state would have to agree to the national popular vote deciding who the president is by that method. Most of the states already award the EC votes of their states by popular vote across the entire state anyway, only two states award them by districts, and they don't have many electoral votes.
  14. They could but they can't decide the president by popular vote aggregated across every state, unless every single state agreed, and then they could just change the constitution.
  15. Don't need the nomenclature, I have the arguments, but the nomenclature adds a little spice.
  16. How do you get rid of something that is in the constitution, without changing the constitution? Would love to hear owly try and explain that one.
  17. No there isn't. Have to change the constitution to get rid of the EC, the EC is in the Constitution.
  18. Don't they need two-thirds of the congress, two thirds of the senate, and two thirds of the states to agree in order to make that happen? Fat chance. Good luck with that, butthurt Demohacks, you're gonna need it.
  19. Go ahead, go on believing the EC is decided by who wins the most voting districts in the House of Representatives, and not who wins the most popular votes in an entire state. But for those who look into it, they know you are talking out of your ass.
  20. Doesn't even know what the EC is, but is sure it serves no purpose anymore and has to go. Not atypical of most EC haters.
  21. The EC has everything to do with state borders. Voting districts do not impact the EC, they impact the house of representatives, and they aren't the same thing.
  22. The state borders haven't been redrawn in quite a while, by Democrats or Republicans. You don't know what you are talking about. The last time the state borders were redrawn, I'm pretty sure the Democrats were the one benefiting from the EC anyway, not Republicans, but that can change over time, and it hasn't had anything to do with gerrymandering.
  23. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep, voting on what's for dinner. In this analogy the wolves are the big cities, the sheep are rural communities, and the EC is designed to protect the sheep from the wolves.
  24. In fact, the founders hated pure democracy, and decided to set up a constitutional republic, in part to prevent it from becoming a pure democracy, the EC is integral to that.
