The Border Wall and Border Control
Penderyn replied to Cum Laude's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Can't most people climb most walls, though? Is the whole Army going to sit on it, or what? -
When did it become wrong to even question natives?

Can't pretend it came up much in the Church in Wales either! -

I was pointing out that, as the only member of your corner-boy nationality, you must be old enough to have some claim to your corner, whereas those you rob can manage thousands. I understood that Selkirk was in Scotland (which is currently run by Irish and Germans), but was never hot on geography. -

The legal position is. I suppose, clear enough, but why does it matter to anyone sensible? -
For the Germans, doubtless.

How many people anywhere have title deeds to their countries? Theft is theft is theft is theft.. Stay on that corner and get a living, there's as good boy, since you were born there centuries ago. -
I think they and the Persians fought one another to a standstill, the Muslims walked into mamy of the provinces they'd been fighting over, the Western Christians stabbed them in the back and the Turks proved to be better fighters.

Bloody capitalism? -

It seems to me criminal in the extreme to act as an accomplice in launching anyone into a life under late capitalism. -
One of my daughters was in CAMRA up in Yorkshire, Bradford possibly, and I was Chair of our Branch till I fell off. Yes, I've heard that North American Beer has reformed, and even managed to get my hands on some. It is a consolation to me that, at the last, beef should improve so hugely. It used to be the quickest way out of only Manchester. Most of my overseas relatives are in Chubut, and probably teetotal, my US ones probably shot under Prohibition, but I have still quite a lot in Seskatchewan. Any good ale there, I wonder?

Doctors and opioids, a troublesome connection.
Penderyn replied to SpankyMcFarland's topic in Local Politics in Canada
For addicts, obviously, until they are cured. Cheaper than prison by a bloody long way. -
Cornish, actually, but it goes down well. The UK is full of good beers nowadays. The Lord wants us to die happy under Brexit, even if we can't eat.

Why pay the prices your War on Drugs have created? -

If you think in groups like this, clearly you should all be in jail for the crimes your group have committed, or is that 'scientific knowledge and irrelevant to your current efforts to insult others? -
Why did the Austrian-Hungarian Empire cease to exist?
Penderyn replied to August1991's topic in Political Philosophy
Since farming was introduced a small minority have lived off the back of those who did the work, and so it has continued They produced such civilization as we inherit, but also all sorts of religious nonsense and a great deal of killing, all justified by bullshit to keep the majority keeping them. Very few of this majority know their arse from their elbow, and believe what they are told. I call such people mugs, since I don't have to kid them. Your own position is best known to your goodself, obviously. -

Always and everywhere the real model is 'Oh God, let's keep the mugs confused, or they'll start caring about their own interests and cut our profits!' The two you mention are surely just secondary variations on the lie machine? -
Not once - the interesting things were just what unreported things American and British forces had been getting up to for a long time before I was concerned - because airmen of different ages in this kind of work talk to one another - and after.

Israel's Discriminatory so-called Justice System
Penderyn replied to marcus's topic in The Rest of the World
It is interesting how the shift from German to Zionist has in no way changed the Nazi propaganda or the refusal to look at anything but the interestsof the Master Race, which ever it may be.. -
Without wishing to justify conspiracy theories, once upon a time, in the RAF, I was involved in activities that came under the Official Secrets Act, and if I'd talked I'd have been locked away. Now, I can make all sorts of allegations, some of them interesting, but those who knew me would just think, Oh, bloody Penderyn showing off!, and our memories would tend to differ anyway. The more interesting a story is, the more difficult to confirm.

The UK used to do this until certain newspapers started squealing.. It was surprisingly cheap and, left alone, would have saved innumerable lives. Newspapers prefer dramatic, squalid messes. -
To start off with, the Eastern Empire was hugely more prosperous and the Empire offered free trade, whereas in the West it offered nothing but gross exploitation. with Italy by this time marginal. Health amongst Romans was always very bad, and the climate change that set the Huns moving killed a lot of them off even before the Plague of Diocletian destroyed the very basis of anything but a primitive peasant culture in the West.
