  1. Spoken like a true socialist. It's wrong unless it affects you. Can you honestly say that if you had a 13 year old daughter - you would not want to share in her decision to have a child?
  2. 1) Again, younger than 16 is not a woman. A 13 year old consulting with her parents is not much of a restriction. 2) If you define a woman as a female who can get pregnant, you might have a point - but we don't define it that way in law or in life. Just think of your own children at 13 and 14 in grade 8 and 9 - and as a parent, would you not want to help protect your child's mental health as well as helping to organize their life to help raise the child or manage the mental trauma that can follow someone through their life? 3) Lots of surveys out there - but the MSM is loathe to drill down and instead, keep the narrative to one choice or another. The only nuanced surveys come from right-to-life organizations. I've attached a link to an environics survey - and while you'll see a correlation to the polarizing A or B answers - the drill down shows that a sizable number of Canadians - especially younger Canadians - do believe in some restrictions on abortion. Link: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/poll-young-canadians-want-to-restrict-abortion-to-12-weeks Michael - this whole discussion just highlights why virtually all Western countries have had an adult conversation with its citizens and arrived at compromising legislation that balances a woman's right to choose with society's aversion to later term abortions....but also the importance of pre-abortion consultation to provide as much information and introspection to ensure they are making the most informed decision possible........look it up "abortion in European countries". Our MSM never educates Canadians as to what is going on in other "progressive" countries with regards to abortion - but they are gung-ho to using those same countries when it benefits their "progressive" social policies.
  3. I agree with him - and the comment is a far cry from taking away a woman's right to choose. It's fundamentally a lie because a female under 16 is not a woman - the definition of which is an "adult female". It's a smear because Ford simply said it should be considered and never applied that consideration to a woman. Since pretty well half the population thinks that some restrictions should be placed on abortion, I'd hazard a guess that a healthy majority would agree with the tiny step that Ford is suggesting for consideration. I'd hazard a further guess that parents would be even more in favour. The attack ad is a perfect example of why Jordan Peterson is so popular around the world.
  4. For decades, "diplomacy" had gotten nowhere with North Korea - leading to a steady buildup of nuclear capabilities. Then along came Donald Trump - made it clear to North Korea that "enough is enough". That stick and carrot approach has us on the brink of a potentially historic break-through that could lead the de-nuclearization of the North but just as important, a thawing in international relations that might see the Hermit Nation start to re-engage. Al Gore shared a Nobel Peace Prize with the IPCC for "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change" Barack Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize for "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" Surely, if North Korea makes substantial strides towards peace and normalization - Donald Trump should win a Nobel Peace Prize or perhaps share one with Kim Jong Un?
  5. Here's a couple. It says he'll restrict a woman's right to choose - among other outrageous claims. The second link is even more direct. These Liberals are shameless but heck, this is what they do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgLfoSbmTpM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uARJFjZV5tA
  6. Especially when you can come back home if you get sick - or stay there and claim the equivalent cost from Medicare.
  7. More and more people are becoming aware of that - evidenced by the voices on the Left getting shriller as their empty arguments and slogans get called out - and it's the reason someone like Jordan Peterson is despised by these people. It's galling that the media call him controversial and polarizing when in fact, the substance of his views reflect those of a vast majority of Canadians - and people all around the globe. The last 30 or 40 years has seen the withdrawal of men from the elementary and high-schools, the activism of unions, and the growing influence of Social and Humanities "professors". Just as important though, is the absence of Canadian political history and solid civic education - emphasizing that balance and stability that has served Canada so well. If we don't turn it around soon, I fear for the soul of our country.
  8. No kidding. There's nothing really wrong with the Left in general (or the Right) - as long as they are within shouting distance of the center. I've mentioned before that Canada needs the Left as much as we need the Right - to give us that balanced stability that has served us so well. You can't please all the people all the time - and we know that you can't please some of the people at any time. It's the extremists/alarmists on the Left and their counterparts on the Right that we have to treat with a big grain of salt. In a democracy, we still have to listen for granules of substance but for the most part, their shrill shouting down of anything they don't agree with should be given zero legitimacy. Unfortunately, our media likes to give too much space to these shrill voices. Ever notice the photographs of some "demonstrations" where there are likely only 10 or 15 people but the camera shot is in the front with the background blocked out. Anyway, I digress.
  9. About Marcus? Couldn't have said it better.....
  10. Ford may prove to be inept - it remains to be seen. But in Ontario's current situation, I would rather have someone who at least has aspirations to move towards fiscal responsibility and accountability, if not a balanced budget.
  11. This whole Hamas orchestrated fiasco is called the March for the Right of Return. The right of return is simply a euphemism for the elimination of the Jewish State. Forget how the land was lost 70 years ago - and the fact that all the original landowners are dead? Somehow identify all the descendants and give all the land back to them and start the process of Arabs quickly outnumbering Israelis and booting Jews out of their own country. That would of course make perfect sense to any Jew-hater - of which there are plenty. Funny thing is, it's hard to find Palestinian-haters among what you call "Israeli apologists". As I've said many times - accept Israelis/Jews the right to their own state and peace will come - it's really that simple.
  12. Just like Marijuana - he blurted it out in his campaign saying he would immediately legalize it. What happened? "Storefronts" opening all over Ontario - if not the whole country. All totally illegal. The cops didn't know WHAT to do. All sorts of wasted policing and court time - and it's still going on. And there are still a myriad of issues to sort through. Don't mean to misdirect this thread - it's just another example of how naive and irresponsible this man-child is.
  13. All you are doing is illustrating the democracy and freedom that exists within Israel. Of course there are Israelis - probably a sizable minority - who are opposed to the settlements. What you perceive as a weakness is in fact, their biggest strength. Trying to negotiate peace with a holocaust denier (Abbas) and a terrorist organization (Hamas) is like dancing on knives. Any strategy will have its detractors. What do you think Hamas would do to Palestinians who wanted to leave Israel alone and stop all the fighting? I can guarantee you that there are multitudes who want an and to the fighting and just be able to raise their families. Where are those voices? Their silence is deafening.
  14. Naive - I know.....but it's what drives people to what the status quo calls "populism".
  15. People will always find ways to get around the laws/rules. That's why we should enforce the "spirit" of the law - and make legislative changes as quickly as possible. In other words, do what's right. That's what Canadians expect - not only in this context. Do what's right.
  16. As Daniel Jean admitted - it was the PMOs responsibility - and they did not do it. They need a good, swift kick in the Butts.
  17. You're defeating your own argument - that's precisely why the Israelis fight back - fiercely but with constraint. Well let's see. Those brave Arab nations tried it in 1948, 1967 and 1973 - losing quickly every time. Egypt tried a longer campaign backed by the USSR and contributions from other Arab nations but never got anywhere. Iran is the latest boogeyman in the background using Hamas and Hezbollah as their proxies. Americans provide money but most/all of Israel's military equipment is their own. The Arabs on the other hand, counted heavily on the USSR and Iran for weaponry. Hamas is a terrorist organization who USE women and children as shields and props - it's sickening. Not sure you know what Zionist means. Of course they are Zionists. Any Jew who believes that Israel has a right to their own state is a Zionist. The term is meaningless today. Israel isn't going anywhere. And if you think I'm picking sides, you're wrong. Palestinians deserve their own state but Arab countries and Iran will not let them - because it would legitimize Israel whom they seek to annihilate. As I said, if Arab nations and Iran would accept Israel's right to exist, peace would come.
  18. Wow! Israel has the capability to wipe out the Palestinians any time they would choose to do so. Instead, Israel legally employs about 50,000 Palestinians in Israel and the occupied territories. It's estimated that a further 25-30,000 work illegally. Now turn it around - if the roles were reversed, Hamas would not think twice of completely obliterating Israel - or at least all the Jews.
  19. So much noise and misdirection - year after year - decade after decade. You want peace - and justice? Pretty simple really - Iran and their Hamas and Hezbollah proxies just have to drop their goal of the total destruction of Israel - and openly accept the right of Israel to exist. How can you continually turn the other cheek when someone is trying to exterminate you? Everything else is just a bunch of Chamberlain-like bleeding heart BS.
  20. There are none so blind as those who will not see.............
  21. Daniel Jean just announced he will be retiring as of May 22nd. Although he reportedly told the Privy Council back in January of his intentions - it's difficult NOT to connect it to Trudeau's India fiasco. Although much was made of his implication of Indian meddling, he only recently admitted that the blame squarely rests with Trudeau's PMO - and without question, that's where it belongs - at the feet of "The worst Prime Minister since Pierre Trudeau"..... Link: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-daniel-jean-adviser-who-suggested-trudeaus-india-trip-was-sabotaged/
  22. You're starting to sound like Justin Trudeau and his "root causes". Outside the issue of fatherless youths or rotten parenting, I don't buy your argument that this is more than just a small minority.
  23. You're thinking very short term. I was talking a couple of centuries.....at least. We are so immature as people.......we need to be confronted with our own ugliness to understand how to move forward. We seemed to have learned that world wars are not such a smart idea. Nuclearization was/is a scary chapter - I'll be curious to see what happens with the North Korea talks. Terrorism - no matter what the source - is the new chapter. China seems to be slowly getting its act together - another 50-75 years or so and they will likely be using some form of democracy. The trouble spot is the autocracy of the Middle East with Iran being the biggest troublemaker. The pivot there is the acceptance of Israel's right to exist....then the peace dominoes will start to fall. I wish I could live for 150 more years to see all this - it'll be fascinating. But it has to happen in its own time. Confront and reject our own ugliness........and that also means confronting capitalism's ugly side that's best defined by "how much is enough".
  24. I guess I just have a more hopeful outlook. A family can have strength without children although I admit, it's lousy for the population/demographic requirements. Point is - you draw strength from those who are close. Some family circles are much smaller than others. If the number of lifelong single men and women increases substantially, they won't have people to draw on and MIGHT be more at risk to isolationism. I think you're implying that mental illness is on the upswing. Tough one to evaluate because we are now much better at diagnosis - and treatment. That said, there seems to be a pill for everything when in fact, some people need some guidance and a boot in the arse - tough love. Of course, now you get thrown in jail. Oh the humanity!
  25. It doesn't NEED to mix. It just will. It's inevitable. Most of the world's problems are exacerbated, if not caused by colors, language and culture. Gradually minimize those "differences" and you're on a very long road to a better place. I know it sounds Star-Trekky - but if the Human Race can survive itself, we'll have bigger fish to fry in the Universe than the pettiness that's ongoing today.....and it's not that far in the future. A united planet - populating other planets. As they say, if you don't know where you're going - any road will get you there. But don't try to force feed the populace. It takes time, a vision and patience.
