  1. Stop sitting on the fence. What do you REALLY think?
  2. Of course you can't - it's insane!
  3. Liberals try to confuse people by mixing immigration and refugees. I strongly believe that Canadians are perfectly OK with properly managed immigration. What the Liberals have done to the refugee process is shameful - damaging to the country and to Canadians' compassion and generosity. First, the illegal border crossers are almost exclusively economic migrants and no matter what spin the Liberals apply, genuine refugees waiting their turn to be legally processed are pushed down - or off the list. Second, there has to be a carefully managed plan for each and every refugee that gives them the best chance to get on their feet. The federal government provides one year of funding - then dumps them on the Provinces and washes their hands. It takes money, a plan, competence, teamwork and compassion to make each refugee resettlement work. It can't be trivialized with virtue signalling and irresponsible "promises".
  4. Looks like his memory came back. He even remembers apologizing "in the moment. But of course, he thinks he did nothing wrong - but he has not denied anything in the column. So how can "doing nothing wrong" possibly reconcile with his statement that "If I had known you were reporting for a national paper I never would have been so forward "? He's pretty well skirting the edge of calling the victim a liar. Like several other fiascos, this government gets in trouble when they don't simply come out and take their medicine. Trudeau (and his image handlers) missed an opportunity for a humble mea-culpa that would have driven home the point he feebly tried to make today - that one man's innocent flirtation can be viewed as an unwanted advance. He now wears the crown of a champion hypocrite. Link: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-canada-politics-trudeau/canadas-trudeau-facing-groping-allegation-says-he-apologized-did-nothing-wrong-idUSKBN1JV33O Late addition: Toronto Star ran an article today on his latest statements - on the very last page of the front section.
  5. I really detest how the press is either not asking the questions - or the PMO is not allowing access to ask the questions. Trudeau's lawyer-prepared response strongly implies that the column is untruthful (AKA a lie). The question he has to answer is whether he thinks the column is untruthful. If he can't say that, it means that he might have done what is reported - but he can't remember. If he does call it untruthful, he's calling the victim a liar - which makes him one of the planet's most detestable hypocrites. Regardless of whether the victim has been paid off, she won't be happy to be considered a liar. Either way - lawyers or not - this story is not finished.
  6. Eyeball - your posts seem to reflect cynicism and bitterness. There is always a huge middle ground between the extreme (by North American standards) Right Wing and the extreme Left Wing. The media has a need to polarize issues - sometimes ideologically - sometimes just to sell papers. No better example than abortion. Gallup has been following the issue for years - currently 29% say it should be legal in any circumstance, 18% say it should be illegal in all circumstances - and 50% say it should be legal only under certain circumstances. Virtually all Western countries (except Canada of course) have had mature conversations and arrived at balanced legislation. The media in North America? They boil it down to pro-choice or pro-life and never give us the context of the middle roads that other countries have taken. So have a bit more faith in humanity - if not the politicians. There is a large silent swath - often a majority - who just want the arguing to stop and to take some meaningful action that resolves some of the impasses - like abortion and immigration. 7. Clearly you have no clue about Fascism - and history. That's why Godwin's Law exists.
  8. History will say show that Trump was like Buckley's Cough Medicine - tastes awful, but it works.
  9. Those are not our values - they are our necessities. Our values include thinking we have more impact on the world than we actually do (which is very little). And now, we have little respect around the world as our PM goes about alienating others - like China, India, Japan, Belgium - and of course, the US.
  10. You gave too much credit to that Martin Regg Cohn Star article I posted!!!.........
  11. I agree - but I didn't want to disrespect Michael's efforts with his Thesaurus........
  12. I don't "favour" it. It's just a fact that certain media are more biased - or "sectarian" - than others. I think it's fair to say that they are all biased to one extent or another - it's human nature. That said, The Star has consistently been a Liberal shill for decades - crafting their stories almost entirely around Liberal press releases and columnists slagging all things Conservative. They have vehemently been an anti-Ford crusader.....and as my previous post indicated, they are at it again - one day into Ford's premiership.
  13. Thanks for the link. I don't really see how you can even think of comparing the two. The Star is disrespecting Premier Ford in his first day on the job. The Sun Memo lays out an editorial reporting strategy leading into an election. Like most Ontarians, the Sun was anti-Liberal - but nowhere in the three page memo does it even mention Ford or cheer for the Conservatives. It painfully details the issues that they think are important - stressing where the Liberals have failed. I can guarantee that if the Star's editorial electoral policy would have been public, it would have been loaded with anti-Ford rhetoric - with instructions to dig up whatever they could. I thought you were unveiling some sinister backroom plot. Instead, this memo is exactly what Ontario needed - a little more truth and a little less self-congratulatory Liberal mumbo-jumbo. Given the mess that Ontario was/is in, this editorial guidance is pretty tame and pragmatic.
  14. Here's a video from the G7 that shows how well known and how well liked our Prime Minister is. We were the host country and Trudeau was the conference Chair. I actually found it quite uncomfortable to watch. Link:
  15. Didn't hear about that. Sounds interesting. Do you happen to have a link?
  16. Martin Regg Cohn was The Star's attack dog in the lead up to the election - with column after column denigrating Ford and the Conservatives. Only a day into Ford's Premiership, Cohn and The Star are at it already. Much like the sour-faced Democrats and CNN to the south, Cohn just can't accept the election results. I guess we shouldn't expect any different...... Link: https://www.thestar.com/opinion/star-columnists/2018/06/29/how-doug-ford-fell-in-love-with-his-own-honeymoon.html
  17. Do you think she's been paid off in some way? I can understand privacy but if I was her - and I saw this guy prancing around as the icon of virtue - It would make me mad enough to come forward. I mean, look at his apology to her. It says everything about this phoney of a PM.
  18. Let's be clear - there is no immigration crisis in Canada. We can handle the planned immigration of people who genuinely WANT to come to Canada and duly follow the application process. We have a developing crisis in bogus refugees, queue jumpers, economic migrants and those who would just try and sneak into the country. Anyone who is found to have entered Canada through any point other than an official crossing should be immediately turned back. It's lawyers and the refugee industry that has "championed" the extended appeal process that is given to people who should be given no more than one kick at the can. If not - no matter what the hand-wringers say - the true refugees being housed in camps are the ones that get shunted down the list - if not off it completely.
  19. Let's see how welcoming Canadians are when the flood doesn't stop. Thanks to our big-mouth, virtue signalling PM, Pandora's box has been opened. We're only STARTING to get a feel for how frustrated many Americans are.
  20. He'll be celebrating Canada's 151st birthday. This, from a PM who told India that Canada was only 100 years old..........no, really, he did.
  21. Your one-size-fits-all ignores the central issue within the Black community - an issue that for the most part is non-existent with other minorities. The Baby Mom culture that rendors Black children fatherless drives them towards street gangs - seeking some sort of validation, acceptance and to some degree, a curious form of love. Baby Mom is not a trite term - it's the willingness to have children with many "fathers" who have no role or acceptance of the children. You won't find this in any other minority - many of whom face the same obstacles. Sure, we can and should continue to address true poverty in Canada - but until we also consider this blatantly clear difference, we'll just continue to bury Black kids. Harsh but true.
  22. Dialamah - put your "study" aside and just look at the real world. Year after year in the GTA, we see a large number black faces among the killers and their victims - from such a small percentage of the population. To me, it's almost immoral that we keep making excuses - decade after decade while blacks go on killing blacks and terrorizing neighbourhoods. There are reasons why the police have trouble getting people to cooperate - and it's almost entirely due to intimidation - fear of reprisal. It'll only stop when we step up and deal with the fatherless youth culture. There's a big difference between a single mom and an accepted culture of Baby Moms and sperm donators.
  23. There's a bit of a difference here......Trump actually lies all by himself. Trudeau on the other hand is told to lie by his handlers. He's not smart enough to know whether he's lying or not.
  24. I have no idea of the details of the study but clearly it accounted for several visible minorities - and said that Blacks have more "problem areas than the other minorities - but to use your math approach, here's what I was saying - out of 300 prisoners. Remember - these numbers are mine - just to demonstrate how the study could be/should be interpreted. 50 Caucasian - 20 violent/entrenched 50 Chinese - 10 violent/entrenched 50 Latino - 15 violent/entrenched 50 South Asian - 15 violent/entrenched 50 Middle Eastern - 10 violent/entrenched 50 Black - 35 violent/entrenched That gives us 250 visible minorities - 34% of whom are violent entrenched - noticeable less than Caucasians even though it includes a 70% violent/entrenched rate among Blacks. Remember - the study compares Caucasians to the combined total of all visible minorities. Does this mean that Blacks are pre-disposed to more criminality? Absolutely not. That would be genuine racism. But I'll go back to my original post and the reasons that put Blacks in situations where they have less of a chance to thrive - centered around the Baby Mom, fatherless households that are all too prevalent in low-income, Black communities. You do them no favours by continuing to ignore the facts that are so blatantly obvious. That's all I'll say on this matter - it falls on deaf ears with the usual suspects.
  25. Your equations are mind-boggling so let's stick to the facts. What do we know? Nothing more than what your study actually said. 1) Blacks have more "problem areas" than any other visible minority. 2) Caucasians are more firmly entrenched in crime than visible minorities. I have no problem recognizing that Caucasians are more "entrenched" than Chinese or South Asian or many of the other minorities. But here's the kicker: Based on the 2016 census. Although 22.3% of Canadians were "visible minorities" Blacks comprised only 3.5%. Surely you can see how lumping them in with all the other visible minorities dilutes their criminality as suggested in point 1). Are you at least starting to recognize that you might be one of the "usual suspects"? Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Canada
