Let's try this: Let's say you are a female student looking for summer work, and the church group down the road has a federal grant to hire students so you go to see them. In the interview you are asked your opinion on abortion, and you reply you are pro-choice and the interviewer tells you at that point the interview is over. They have just broken the terms of the attestation they agreed to to get the funding which would support your summer job.

Many who apply for these summer job grants are religious organizations, many of whom have anti abortion convictions. Ticking the box doesn't in any way make that organization change it's views, it is simply saying you agree to not attempt to infringe on charter rights that disagree with you

Apparently there is a bit of misunderstanding as to what this attestation is all about. Bt ticking the box you are simply agreeing to abide by what is written in the Charter. If you can't do that, find another source of funding. Keep in mind that a lot of grant applicants are churches who may not agree with, for instance, reproductive rights. You can't use public funds to hire summer workers and then try to convert them to your anti-abortion stance.
