All those same things happened where/when I grew up except nobody had to fear god to know how to do such things and we didn't depend on some sort of made up mystical higher power to take care of us.

That's a very strong and touching story to hear, but of course it's not the only one. What sins have been hidden under some guise of religion? And you're right, what we do day to day is what's important. And I didn't need the 10 commandments to tell me not to kill anybody. Apparently some people wouldn't know that without guidance from gawd.

Maybe there were no hijackers. Maybe the pilots of 4 major airliners just all of a sudden went a little wonky and decided to fly into big buildings or maybe just crash into a cornfield. Maybe it was bad inflight meals that pissed them off?

That is unfortunately the nature of man who allows him/herself to be led by the nose simply it seems, because they are afraid of mortality and are willing to go to vicious lengths as they hide away from reality.

No buddy, most wars occurred due to mindless people being indoctrinated into this weird club of religion. Various versions of course, but mindless fear nonthe less. Thank god we have had the good sense to separate "church" and state. Although it seems we still have some way to go. They still use the bible in some courts of law.
