Another perception management technique or in other words, brain washing technique. Spread a lie about the person or institution you want to belaud. Then "prove" it that it was a lie. Make people believe that your opponents are "evil" and the person or institution which you want to belaud is "innocent". Yes this could be called "proving innocence" technique in literature.
