  1. Haa Haa yaa I saw that when Campbell (a Conservative in liberal cloths) tried to bribe the BC people with a tax break in order to keep HST. But when the polls came back as a no go...there goes the income tax break.
  2. The message is not only untrue but tiresome propaganda that people don't believe anymore. If this tax break somehow only helped small business I might have been alright with it, but these big greedy socially irresponsible corporation deserve nothing. P.S. if it comes from the Fraser Institute it's really coming from big business which = B.S.
  3. July 30, 2011 by theleftcoast.ca A confidential source who is very well connected inside the BC Liberal Party has informed me that if the “YES to Extinguish the HST” vote is anything over 50%, rather than repealing the HST as Gordon Campbell had previously promised, Christy Clark will call a fall election with the HST as the key issue. She will put her government on the line an effort to ask all British Columbians how they feel about the HST. It looks like the HST battle costs are going to continue to spiral upwards. Stay-tuned for a busy fall election season.
  4. Less useless laws = less cops (+ probably happier )
  5. This message was brought to you from the Fraser Institute (Think tank ???)
  6. If I were paying 95% of income on one tax or another I shouldn't complain either right? I'm just being selfish, and greedy right? I've pegged you as a conservative Haperite. I find it funny that conservatives are all for tax cuts as long as it's for big business, and smaller government only where business is concerned. Sorry but the BC Neo-Liberals lost this fight and hopefully the next election.
  7. Wrong on both counts. BC citizens are finally standing up and saying No more. The government is suppose to work on behalf of the people not Corporations. Also those other people you are talking about that are fundamentally selfish, and think taxes should be always paid by someone else are Corporations.
  8. Trickle down economics doesn't work. People are sick of governments giving big business tax breaks in the hope of jobs that never come. The HST is out, next comes the BC Neo-Liberals.
  9. BC people don't believe in trickle down economics, and hate being lied to. What's next... an Election call? Good bye Christy Clark and the BC Neo-Liberals.
  10. It's amazing and sad to see how Conservative ideology and Totalitarianism go hand in hand. Your free to do what we tell you to do. You only have rights as long as we let you have them.
  11. Pliny I think that you have taken what I have said wrong. When I talk about euthanasia I'm referring to voluntary euthanasia (Assisted suicide). Euthanasia the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve pain and suffering. I am not taking about the killing of people because they have three fingers or because they are from another race. Overpopulation isn't the problem, the problem is always of logistics? Please explain.
  12. Yes I'm for genetic engineering and euthanasia. I follow logic and reason, not the words of some spaghetti monster in the sky. Let me ask you, if bad people use science in a immoral way does that make the science immoral? If overpopulation isn't the problem what is? I realize that especially in North America over consumption is a problem. No absolutely not. But like all problems that effect the world as a whole, it must be solved internationally. I think that all though all precautions were taken on my part, that you have confused what I have said or asked. Please re-read my statement and question.
  13. I'd rather see a little Emotional intelligence (EI) in leadership. To many of our political leaders are/were lawyers, good at arguing but bad at planning, not to mention heartless A-holes.
  14. ???? "a normal logically thinking people know right from wrong" is a person that knows it's wrong to hurt someones person or property, it's wrong to steal, and it's wrong to commit fraud. You see this is where I think we are having a problem understanding one another. It is the degree of societal intrusion into our personal liberty and rights that is acceptable. I think that you know where I stand. I believe in Self-Ownership, and personal liberty. I believe that as long as I don't tread on other people's property rights no one should tread on mine. I think that government and law has gotten so big and intrusive that they affect every aspect of our lives. I believe as John Locke believed that there certain fundamental rights that no government, not even a representative and or democratic one can over ride. These being Life, Liberty, and property. The right to property is not just a creation of government, or of law. The right to property is a natural right that is pre-political. I think you believe that because every thing that we do in a society effects someone else so we need laws to control and restrict our actions. But by this logic things soon get out of control. Do you have the right to tell how to eat because I might increase health insurance costs? Do you have a right to tell me I can't protest because it will cost society to provide security? Do you have a right to tell me how to raise my children because this will effect society. I don't understand this statement. So do you see people as wage slaves to be used for the benefit of society? I think people should be seen as a end not as a means to an end. This is not my logic, I didn't state what less government meant to me.
  15. I don't know if it's wrong to quote yourself. Anyway I was doing a little mental masturbation last night about what I said, and started thinking about road rage. I wonder if lack of social scorn from a community that knows you contributes? Do people act and do things during a road road rage incident because there is little no chance that they will ever see the other person again? Is there less road rage in a smaller city? I would think so.I realize that there is less traffic in a smaller city but if there is less road rage is this the reason? any hoo I realize it's off topic but I just thought I would jot it down here instead of starting another topic.
  16. I think what's happening with the climate change lack of action is a classic example of Game theories, Tragedy of the commons scenario in action. The Tragedy of the Commons diplay’s its destructive power whenever some of us cooperate for mutual benefit but others see that they could do better for themselves by breaking the cooperation by defection or cheating. So they can, until everyone else starts thinking in the same way, when the cooperation collapses and everyone ends up worse off. Through following the logic of self-interest, they have somehow landed everyone in a position where self-interest is the last thing that is being served. It makes its presence felt in the over exploitation of resources, rainforest clear cuts, territorial disputes and many of other circumstances where greed leads to the breakdown of cooperation. I saw a good example at the Copenhagen climate change conference. The tragedy unfolded as each nation remained determined not to commit to the economic sacrifice that reducing carbon emissions would entail, until in the end there was no firmly enforceable agreement at all. We could avoid the Tragedy of the Commons if we were to change our behavior and become more moral or more altruistic, caring for our neighbors at least as much as we do for ourselves.
  17. That's why they get the big bonuses. They will kill their own mother for a profit.
  18. You are right I lost my cool , and for that I am sorry. I should have just ignored his comments. But now I'm sure I am on his ignore list, and that's fine with me. I obviously can't learn anything from him or even have a logical rational conversation with him, so I don't see it as a loss.
  19. The normal logically thinking people know right from wrong. You are never judge and jury, this was the basis for society. I break laws all the time, 90% of the time I wear a seat belt but sometimes I don't, some times I Jay walk, once and a while I smoke pot. I think where our difference is the degree of self ownership we have. Don't get me wrong law is very important, and society can't exist without it. But in my opinion law to me has no right to effect my life unless I directly interfere with someone life by either damaging them or there property, stealing, or committing fraud. Agreed I think there is a confusion between us as to what is current law and what I am advocating. Once again I believe (just my opinion) Law should only deal with protecting rights of the citizens in the community. Hurting or destroying them or there property, stealing, or committing fraud That's It. These are basic universal laws, they have applied all through time in probably every culture. Yes I suppose particular culture could tolerate domestic abuse but it still breaks a basic universal law, and infringes on basic personal human rights. Less government = less things to control Less Paternalistic Legislation = either mean less police or better protection of the citizens. More time could be committed to combating theft, murders, ect. I think you could find these video's very interesting, maybe something to think about. Dave Meslin: The antidote to apathy Alan Siegel: Let's simplify legal jargon! Yeas I agree , and no I haven't but I'll put it on my list thanks I'm not a big fan of fines, what may be effective on a poor person won't be effective on someone with money to burn. Plus If I could put on my tin foil hat for a moment, I see things like speeding tickets as a tax revenue and perhaps a problem that would hurt the government if solved. If you wanted to solve the problem, instead of fines you take away a person's license for period enough violation no more license. Note: I'm referring to the current system, not the system I advocate. Because this is what civilizations do. You pay for roads that you may not use because 1) you might use them at some point 2) because someone from somewhere else that pays for your roads might use them 3) You receive the benefits from other people using them (your groceries), and wood that builds your house 4) National defence.
  20. What do you call someone that just can't understand basic logic...ohh yaa mentally challenged.
  21. I can only explain thing so many times. Don't get down on your self your doing the best you can.
  22. I'm a green leprechaun...see I can lie too
