Ryerson University Changing Name
Pete_Coach replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Local Politics in Canada
We should not name anything after anyone. Future citizens may not like it. All names of everything should be changed to numbers or letters or symbols. -

People`s Guarantee - Patrick Brown
Pete_Coach replied to ?Impact's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Yeah....the Conservatives had a huge lead going into the last 2 elections too....there is still plenty of time for Brown to step on his di**. Honestly, Brown really does not offer alternatives, nothing to differentiate him form the Libs, nothing indicating he will roll any policies back, nothing new to offer. I mean, he din't even make a good opposition, always seemingly in agreement with the Libs. Why would I want to vote for him except to change the portrait in the halls of the legislature. -
What are teachers doing on PD Days?
Pete_Coach replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
How to skip school and sleeping in seminars? Attendance is as you choose LOL. Teachers have it very very good in Ontario and I have difficulty sympathizing with their perceive issues. Largest and wealthiest union, Premier in their pocket, enough pull to change outcomes of elections. Oh and I have 2 neighbors that are teachers, some friends and some relatives too. My comments are not rectal plucks but personal observations. -
You confuse me....an adult child applying for student loans qualifies only if the family income is less the $XX. Neither of my kids had large incomes from part time and summer jobs and yes, they did live at home because they could not afford to live elsewhere.

Why should students from low income families be exempt from paying for the tuition of an adult child? Should the adult child not be paying for their own education? I felt the same way about student loans when my kids were going to University. They could not get student loans because my income was beyond a threshold. My income should not have any bearing on my adult child's ability to get a student loan. Other loans do not require family income as a requisite for approval. This sounds like a Bernie Sanders election promise come to life.
