  1. It's all about supply and demand, as it is with any job. The supply of doctors is small, and the demand for doctors is large. They represent a very skilled workforce in which only a very small group of people have the necessary training and skills to succeed. The government continues to artificially cap doctor's salaries, contrary to what they're actually worth. I have no beef with doctors seeking to be appropriately compensated for their incredible work. God bless doctors!!!
  2. I have a HUGE problem with that list. Where the hell is WESTERN?
  3. Exactly. I had no idea either. As long as their back to work for the beginning of hockey season.
  4. That's true. Although, the occupation angle is just a smoke-screen. Even before any territory was occupied, they were seeking to completely destroy Israel. I hope, now, that attitude has changed.
  5. Yes, you are correct. However, it's a fact that these lands were being used as a staging ground by the surrounding Arab countries in their efforts to destroy Israel. I don't fault Israel for being pro-active in it's defense, especially when one examines history from the creation of Israel up to 1967. However, I really don't want to get into the long drawn out history of the region. I hear that the Palestinians would be happy if Israel would reduce itself to the pre-1967 border. This would be a welcome change of heart. Because, for the longest time, borders didn't matter, only the complete destruction of Israel.
  6. Well, much of the territory "occupied" by Israel is land acquired during the many wars instigated by the various surroundeing Arab countries. Several wars to be exact. Back in the day, when the destruction of Israel was paramount.
  7. Well, Israel has withdrawn completely from Gaza, so I don't understand your previous rant. And according to many Israeli officials, as well as Prime Minster Sharon, they are willing to withdraw from virtually all of the West Bank. However, for this to happen, the Palestinians will have to control their violent fanatics.
  8. Of course they did. It was a creation of the Mulroney government. It was wrong, and as a true conservative, I'm able to admit it. However, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. It's been kept in existence by the liberal government, who promised to do away with it. So there's plenty of blame to go around. It looks as though, the only way to get rid of it, is to elect a conservative government, because both the liberals and NDP are in love with the tax.
  9. What an intelligent argument. It looks as though this thread is a waste of time.
  10. So you're against the Gaza withdrawal? What are your ideas related to correcting the Palestinian/Israeli problems?
  11. I agree. You seem to be a very bitter person. Your statement is absolutely ridiculous. No, the rich don't ALWAYS get rich on the "backs" of the poor. There are plenty of ways to become wealthy. Mostly through talent and hard work. I'm not sure where you get your information from, I mean, other then marxists/communists. I really wish you would.
  12. Oh mirror, you were so close to an intelligence, reasonable response. But then you had to blow it with the usual class warfare garbage. Putting 100% of the surplus into reducing the debt is a very good idea. Personally, I would be in favour of a combination of debt reduction and tax reduction. The rich, "greedy" people don't steal anyone elses money through "rigged" income tax cuts that "screw" the poor and middle class. What really screws the poor and middle class, are ridiculously high income tax rates, and taxes such as the GST. Yes, there are people who are wealthy, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are greedy. Yes there are people who try to cheat on taxes. But they're only trying to keep more of THEIR OWN MONEY. Not anybody elses. Thus, there's no stealing of money from the poor and middle class. However, it is still wrong. But that's part of what happens when the government punishes productivity, punishes success and punishes people with high incomes. In other words, it's policies that people like you champion which lead to this behavior, and then people like you have the nerve to complain about it.
  13. To argue that the economy would be better off with the GST is ridiculous. Taxes, in any form, act like water on fire. The GST is one of the reasons why we look at an 8% unemployment rate, and think that it's good.
  14. The GST is a punishing, job-killing, economic-growth slowing tax. It's unbelievably bad and unnecessary. It should be eliminated, and personal income taxes should be reduced.
  15. Exactly. Tariffs only creat more tariffs. If you want American Industry to respond with the same type of action, then by all means, institute tariffs.
  16. That's an entirely different point, and has nothing to do with Emery's breaking of American drug laws. Mr. Emery knew of the laws he was breaking. He, out of free choice, chose to break them. Actions have consequences. These consequences could mean jail time.
  17. Getting into a trade war with the United States would be about the dumbest thing Canada could do.
  18. The surplus exists because the government continues to take too much of people own money. They've been doing this on a regular basis. It's about time they corrected the situation, and returned the excess money back to the tax-paying public. A small surplus is definitely more appealing then a small deficit. However, they (the federal liberals) have been running a rather large surplus for quite a while. It's time to do the right thing. It's time to eliminate the GST. A promise made by them long ago, but never delivered.
  19. Wow, that really works well. There's a plethora of examples, each with a varying degree of humor. One of my favourites is his post of a quote from Herman Goering, where he highlights the word fascist. Great post BHS.
  20. Wow, that's some of the best fiction I've ever read. Along with Tom Clancy and Stephen King of course. Keep up the good work!
  21. That's irrelevant. The same could be said for you. It's my country too. I have just as much of a right to live here as you do. The left's notion that if one disagrees with the policies of the country, you must leave is insulting and ridiculous. It seems, that in this present time, the true fascists are on the left.
  22. No, 52% and 44% are not the same thing. How about we split a million dollars? I'll take 52% and you take 44%. And then tell me how equal they are. When a politician finds themselves down 52% to 44%, they don't say "gee, I'm even". That's ridiculous. However, my problem with the poll was CBC's biased headline. Because, if the percentages were reversed, you just know that the headline of the story would have been "Majority of Canadians Support Liberal's SSM Legislation." True. But I'm not talking about changing anything related to this poll. I'm talking about the results. Yes, if someone polled using a differently worded question, they could/would get different results. Actually, some polls are used to measure public opinion.
  23. That's factually incorrect. The majority of Canadians were opposed to the SSM legislation rammed through by the federal liberals. That's a fact. The majority of Canadians are against abortion on demand, and are against late-term and partial-birth abortions. The majority of Canadians are frustrated with the level of taxation in this country. And the majority of Canadians are against the revolving door prision system that's evolved under the liberal government.Slightly more than half – 52 per cent – of the 1,203 respondents said they disagreed with the Liberal government's plan to change the definition of marriage to include same-sex couples. Nearly as many people – 44 per cent of respondents – said they supported Bill C-38, the legislation that would make the change law. CBC (BTW, you gotta love the CBC/liberal spin on the poll. Apparently 44% is nearly the same as 52%, ah the good'ol liberal media).
  24. You're exactly right, on both points. However, I'm not sure why the left is so opposed to Hilter and fascism, they have no problem implementing some of those ideas.
