  1. I loved that exchange.
  2. Agreed. No amount of funding for propaganda measures (like Ford's 1010 program) or getting failed politicians for PR (like Hudak) will help Ford convince the council otherwise.
  3. Who said anything about the left? What does this even have to do with the topic??? Big deal. Anyone can say: "Hey, you know your plan sucks because we could be working on finding other sources of revenue." If it was clearly evident that a subway could be funded without raising taxes, then he would have listed those sources of revenue already.
  4. I don't usually jump on board with any "leader" of a political party, but Mulcair is one of the few that actually seems to have both charisma and logic to contend with.
  5. Press "1" for "Let's be clear." Press "2" for "The opposition has no evidence." Press "3" for "This is an unsubstantiated smear campaign."
  6. None of this is encouraging from the perspective of getting us out of deficit - which is the aim of the current government is it not? Also, unemployment dropped because the labour market shrinked.
  7. Chong answers logic with an insult. Fail.
  8. Canadian economy sheds 2,800 jobs in February Canadians continued to find work hard to come by in February as 2,800 jobs were lost across the country. A consensus of economic forecasts had predicted overall growth of at least 15,000 new jobs in the month, with the jobless rate staying steady at 7.6 per cent. Employment among people aged 15 to 24 fell for the fifth month in a row, putting their unemployment rate at 14.7 per cent. As well, the participation rate among young people has fallen to 63.3 per cent from 68.1 per cent in September 2008. A report from TD Economics released Thursday highlighted the trouble for youths seeking jobs, calling the recovery since the recession for them "non-existent". BMO deputy chief economist Doug Porter says while this latest jobs report isn't as bad as it looks, it does show underlying weakness in the economy. "Just as the U.S. labour market finally appears to be turning the corner, Canada’s job market finds itself in a funk," he said in an email. Later in the morning, the United States reported that the U.S. economy added 227,000 jobs, beating expectations, as the unemployment rate stayed flat at 8.3 per cent due to encouraged workers rejoining the work force. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2012/03/09/jobs-canada-030912.html
  9. Can someone list some recent CPC accomplishments or indication as to why they would vote for the current Conservative caucus? I'm just trying to understand why..
  10. CBC News has obtained evidence that unregistered voters got on the voters' list in the Toronto riding of Eglinton-Lawrence in the last election without providing an address, in violation of Elections Canada's own rules. ... CBC News has learned there were at least 2,700 late registrations in Eglinton-Lawrence, but Elections Canada has declined a request to produce them, so it is unclear how many had phoney addresses, or none at all. Toronto riding allowed voters with bogus addresses
  11. NDP are really tearing this one up. Conservatives about-face, now support NDP move to boost Elections Canada's powers
  12. The robocall thing is a wake up call for all Canadians and the media is playing up the lack of trust in the CPC quite well.
  13. It was the robo non-voters.
  14. Del Mastro has made some very intriguing gestures in question period which allude to him dreading the role of the puppet. I think the "robo-answer" meme needs more exposure.
  15. 39% think the CPC were very likely to provide false and misleading information.
  16. 308 results are in. Conservative support went down by 2%. NDP and Liberals remained steady in second and third place. CPC - 33% NDP - 28% LIB - 24% http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zeiUSqdvk_o/T1YlsSOim4I/AAAAAAAAHWg/gCD-CgPJbCc/s1600/Monthly+Federal+Polls.PNG Seat distribution is as follows: CPC - 133 seats NDP - 74 seats LIB - 75 seats BLOC - 25 seats http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H_JWt7zN_Uo/T1YoNwsKIUI/AAAAAAAAHWo/az8BHupL7Yw/s1600/2012+February+Seats.PNG
  17. None of them should be respected, but Flaherty and Diane Finley are very good liars.
  18. Is G&M in the pocket of conservatives now? They seem to think that using a logical failure of a talking point is credible. Case in point: Looking at the total number of successful votes does not mean that those dissuaded from voting do not exist! This is a complete logic fail. If robo-calls were meant to keep voters away, they failed miserably
  19. Sorry, I was just posting in this thread to let people know that if we want to have a monthly review of polls, it should happen sometime in the second week of every month as that is when 308 takes all the polls and puts them all into perspective. They then do the seat redistribution with support graphs, etc. etc..
  20. Threehundredeight usually reports an average of all polls in the second week of every month.
  21. I don't think Harper will follow through on that. The media will call hypocrisy on it.
  22. No, this is a fallacy. Especially if they are trying to reduce the use of coal or are dependent on it as their only resource. You're looking at this too simplistically.
  23. I seriously hope that was sarcasm.
  24. In Parliament logic, a Liberal blunder excuses a Conservative one.
