  1. Perhaps you will explain. If I were going to rent out my property, the rent would include covering the mortgage, city utilities, property taxes, insurance and any other costs associated with the property I'm renting out. That would essentially mean that the renter was paying property taxes, even if its in my name. Unless you are thinking that both the property owner and the renter should pay property taxes? Double dipping for the municipality?
  2. What landlord doesn't include property taxes in the rent???
  3. Well then, perhaps its the in-betweeners that are causing havoc with the report button.
  4. So Kimmy, I believe it was mentioned here previously that the report button was equally used by "left" and "right". Is that true? If not, is the "left" really ganging up on the "right" to send them to purgatory?
  5. Given power, Christians do not behave any better than our current Muslim extremists - they convert by the 'sword' and oppress women and minorities. What is keeping Christians mostly in check in the Western world is that secular governments are in power, and not religious ones. The basis of oppression lives within the Christian faith, as demonstrated by those cults who create small, closed societies in our Western societies. And in Uganda, where 84% of the population claim Christianity, they tried to pass a law that would have seen homosexuals put to death. International outcry resulted in changing the law to 'life in prison', but many "Christians" have no problem killing gays anyway - and raping lesbians, to 'transform' them. So don't you think for one minute Christianity can't be just as ugly as Islam can be. All religious conservatives can inhabit your island, you can kill and enslave each other on your way to proving your God is the Only True God. I have no problem with religious people who do not try to tell others how to live, who exhibit the love for others their religion invariably counsels, who don't find it necessary to disapprove of other people based on some ancient texts.
  6. Yes, this is true. Was there a further point you were intending to make?
  7. I think cops have a difficult job. I think they could be better trained. Too many cops, as a result of their position of power and the stress of the job end up being too violent. I think it's good that they are kept honest through public pressure, but that also people don't take into account how difficult it can be to face the worst and saddest of humanity on a daily basis, year after year. I think that there should be less 'support the brotherhood' activity at the expense of the public and innocent victims.
  8. People don't deserve to be banned just because they engaged in debate with you and you were banned. If you think their posts are inappropriate and they should suffer banning, then report them. If you think reporting is beneath you, then don't whine if you are the only one getting reported and banned. As for not engaging in 'personal attacks' ...... You barely missed the 'personal attack' standard by calling claims 'stupid', but if that's the style of posting you are using, it's not too surprising you are being reported. It's arrogant, abrasive, rude and doesn't show any respect for an opposing point-of-view.
  9. Interesting how you continue to believe that being suspended so often can't be your behavior, it must be everyone else - "opponents" who are taking you out via reporting, moderators rubberstamping reports with an automatic ban, conspiracy. As long as you continue believing this way, I have no doubt that more suspensions will be coming your way.
  10. Thus far, I've not been suspended and I've publicly stated in the past that I don't use the report button and so far, I haven't noticed any disadvantage. Probably getting suspended really does have something to do with the way in which one presents their arguments. That's my guess, anyway.
  11. Now, you've made an incorrect assumption; I don't use the report button, either. I prefer to let people have their say, and continue to prove how idiotic they are.
  12. And this is relevant, why? As per recent moderator instruction that rather than respond to trolling, members should report and ignore them. My point still stands, but you are certainly free to continue on as you have.
  13. Some people have said that they report posts, and nothing is done about it. From that I infer that the mods don't ban unless they AGREE with the reporter that the post in question oversteps some line. Thus, it would seem that at least two people regularly agree that your posts and/or posting style needs some work. Perhaps something for you to think about, or not.
  14. Only for Christians, though. For Muslims, no such flexibility is allowed.

  17. It's impossible to escape media bias, period. Not sure there is such a thing as a 'proper' newspaper any more. Sometimes TV newsmagazine type programs or documentaries can provide a different viewpoint, cut through some of the BS. I don't think any mainstream media really does it's job properly any more.
  18. I think nature created the Caucasian to mix it up with other races, and "improve" them. Maybe it's our calling to raise the intelligence of the 'dumb' blacks you mentioned elsewhere, or to reduce the 'inherent' violence of ME peoples (except Jews, of course - Jews are NEVER violent, just like Whites). Maybe our Whiteness mixed with their Brownness will encourage Latinos to be less sexy, and maybe Yellow/White pairings will result in better drivers among the Asian population. Perhaps the role nature intended for us is to dilute all the other colors to a much more pleasing shade of off-white. /s
  19. And yet it was the conservative campaign who admitted, within hours of winning the Brexit referendum that what they'd said wasn't really what would happen. How do we suppose these 'mistaken' ideas were disseminated to the public well enough to get the referendum to pass? Not left-wing media, I'm guessing. I think you need to assume that all media has enough bias to result in "delusion", whether right or left wing, depending on who pays the majority of the bills. If you don't want your own inherent bias to be catered to, you need to be aware that when you search, search engines present information that is similar to information you've previously looked at so if you focus on right-wing sites and information, the search engine will present that kind of information to you first, and will suppress the other side. To keep yourself, and the search engines, slightly more honest, you could regularly search both sides of whatever issue you are interested in. Still can't eliminate confirmation-bias entirely since that's an inherently human thing, but it might help a bit. Or, instead, you could follow this advice:
  20. But not viable human life, till somewhere around the 4th month. Until then, it's really only a potential human life.
  21. So, when you said "Islam is dangerous", you misspoke, eh? Because over a billion Muslims choose to interpret Islam in a non-dangerous way. Over a billion Muslims who follow the religion of Islam neither practice nor condone terrorism. You consistently deny that people who make sweeping generalizations are holding all Muslims responsible for the actions of a few; you claim that nobody on this forum ever makes a statement that implies (or outright states) that all Muslims are terrorists. When certain members say that if a Muslim isn't out committing terror, they aren't a true Muslim - not a word from you about such a sweeping and inaccurate statement. But let someone object to it, and there you are - "oh, they didn't mean "all Muslims". Then you say "Islam is dangerous". None of the qualification you backtracked with later that all religions are dangerous depending on interpretation. If you don't want to be misunderstood, try employing a little bit of clarity in what you write - demonstrate that moderate and fair-minded perspective you claim you have. If you can't do that, admit your bias.
  22. Honestly, I'd rather take all moral conservatives and members of every fundamental religion put them on their own Island, let them fight it out. Cause you know, they'd be at each other's throat about the "right* way, and/or who God says is right .... there's a great cartoon I saw about this the other day. Google "This land is mine" by Nina Paley.
  23. I think any fanatic is dangerous, whether religious or sectarian, whether their target is others of their faith, other faiths, homosexuals, black people, abortion providers, etc.
  24. News we see focuses on that which is shocking, scary, attention-grabbing. It creates the impression that the world is on the brink of disaster. But most people live a fairly uneventful and safe life, especially in Western countries. This is no comfort to those caught up in the horrible events that make the evening news, of course. Still, to think that the news is even remotely accurate for assessing danger to individuals or the human race as a whole is a mistake. While I rarely agree with BC2004 - this time I do; this isn't a lot different than previous times in human history, although it is certainly more widely disseminated. Consider this article: And this one taken from FBI stats:
