  1. In the story posted: 1 - it was in Europe somewhere; 2 - there was no mention of the driver being Muslim; 3 - the bus company said it had nothing to do with religion or politics. So based on the story that was linked... it wasn't a foreigner and it wasn't an attempt to force a "women to dress like they do back home".
  2. Punish us? Maybe we should just take some responsibility, the thing that conservatives claim they're all about. The Western industrialized world are the worst offenders on a per capita basis because of our consumer lifestyle. People in developing countries have a much smaller carbon footprint because most of them are so poor. We have two cars each, plenty of toys, warm homes, take vacations to foreign climes, eat (and waste) huge amounts of food. We can cut back; what can a semi-starving person with no vehicle, no stable housing and no toys do to cut back. We got ours, we created the problem with our industrialization and modern lifestyle, but now that its time to pay the piper you bunch whine about how it's not our problem, its them over there. If an "extinction event" is in our future, it should start with the self-entitled Westerner who blames everyone but themselves and refuses to lift a finger because, like a four-year-old, they're busy pointing at their younger brother and crying "but Johnny isn't helping, why should I". Maybe once they're gone, the rest of us will be able to accomplish something.
  3. Agreed, there are nuances and ways around. But generally its frowned upon to discriminate against others based on identity, both legally and socially, in Western nations, more so than in many other places.
  4. I think it's a feedback loop. In Western countries, Muslims misbehaving gets more interest than non-Muslims misbehaving so it gets more media attention.
  5. It is part of their job, so yeah it is. In Canada and many other countries, you can't refuse service to someone because they are gay, or brown or white or dress in a way you disaprove of. You can lose your job for refusing, so they do have that choice.
  6. How about Christians who refuse to serve homosexuals. It's the same mindset that makes them think they have the right or even the obligation to impose their religious beliefs on others. In any case, bus drivers seem to have all kinds of reasons for refusing service. Christian bus driver refuses to drive rainbow bus Bus driver refuses to pick up passenger because of her niqab
  7. I know! Let's throw our hands in the air and give up!
  8. Worldwide, the majority of Muslims disapprove of homosexuality, just as the majority of Christians do worldwide. The numbers of both Christians and Muslims who accept homosexuality is greater than the world average in the US and other Western countries. (Pew Research; World Values Database) A minority of Christians and Muslims find it necessary to hurl abuse at a gay pride parade. At the same parade: Footage of an angry exchange between a small group of Christian anti-Pride protesters and dozens of participants in Saturday's parade in London. The religious group preached messages declaring homosexuality as sinful. One woman chose to make her feeling clear by "mooning" the religious protesters.
  9. Yes she uses the popular Christian phrase " It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." Some people think she's not really Muslim because of this, but I disagree. I've always said that Islam and Christianity are not all that different, especially with their extremist, anti-progressive views.
  10. Seems to me who or what to blame, and how much, is of less importance than doing what we can to mitigate it. Reducing air travel, personal or corporate, carbon pricing, developing green technologies, reducing consumerism, better recycling, less meat eating are all ways that can help. None alone are the answer. Regardless of what we do, if the models are even half right, we're in for a rough time. If they're 100% wrong, so much the better. I'd rather be wrong but prepared than right but dead.
  11. Yes, they wanted the authorities to "admit" it was an Islamic terror attack. Because you know, it was a Muslim person therefore it *must* have been a terror attack because Muslims only ever kill in the name of Allah as part of their war on the West and non-believers. If the family said the shooter had mental issues, they were lying. If the shooter had previous contact with police due to mental health issues, it clearly wasn't that serious because they didn't institutionalize him. If anyone in his social circle supported the mental health narrative, they were lying, possibly at behest of authorities who want to 'protect' extremist Muslims. If anyone outside his social circle supported the mental health narrative, or even failed to support the terrorist narrative they were 'apologist' for Islamic extremism. He's a Muslim, ergo it's a terror attack and any other explanation is false. The rhetoric around Muslim misdeeds and white guy misdeeds is significantly different and if you think it isn't, you aren't paying attention.
  12. Funny, haven't seen any wailing by white people condemning those two white boys who are being hunted for the killing of three folks in Northern BC. No groups of white people outside the courthouse condemning one of their own who was on trial for killing his two daughters; remember the Muslims who were outside the courthouse to condemn the murderer of Marissa Shen? When that White guy in New Zealand killed 50 Muslims, white folk the (Western) world over saw no reason to consider their own anti-Muslim rhetoric as remotely connected. Because you know, a Muslim person killing someone requires the world of Muslims to apologize and "reform their religion". White folks killing people? Meh. It happens. There's crazy people everywhere.
  13. So .. no conservatives hide their fortunes across borders without accountability? Is that what you are trying to claim?
  14. The story about Ilhan Omar marrying her brother is fake.  A single post in 2016, made by a known troll on an obscure forum is being used to discredit her.   I'm sure the usual suspects on MLW will continue to repeat this lie because #altrighthatesfacts and #islamophobia.

dialamah - Don't you think the US citizens should know for sure?

If US citizens deserve to know "for sure" about Ilhan Omar based on a single, unsubstantiated posting by a guy known for making stuff up, then they sure as hell need to know "for sure" if their president is a sexual predator after numerous accusations, at least one court filing and his own words.  But nope, Trump supporters are so enamored of this POS, they just suck his shit like it's their morning pablum.

I don't know about the "marrying her brother" rumour, but there is way more evidence of tax fraud than there is about anything Trump has been accused of.  There should be enough evidence to check into it.  But alas, she's muslim, so you'll defend her to the death.

  15. If people were really concerned about whole countries ruled with reprehensible and abhorrent policies, we'd have threads about Russian individuals and their misdeeds, Chinese individuals and their misdeeds, Indian people and their misdeeds. These 'discussions' would focus on the barbarism of the associated culture and/or religion that immigrants from these places will bring to Canada, and declarations that the people from these cultures/religions should either not be permitted in Canada, or should undergo more extensive screening. But we don't. It's only Muslims who are broad-brushed in this way.
  16. Muslim cop saves drowning man in Rochdale. Muslim butcher in Cairo provides shelter for Cancer patients. Muslim professor provides 6 million hours of video lessons for medical students in the U.S. and around the world. British Muslim offers help and a job to a homeless drug addict. Muslim taxi driver returns £12K to.pensioner who was scammed. Canadian Muslim wins innovator of the year for groundbreaking work in treatment of eye diseases. Link. OW has me on ignore, so he won't see this unless someone replies with quote.
  17. If you added something like "This is why we need to limit/eliminate Muslim immigration to Canada" or "Why aren't Muslims condemning this violence?" or "Muslims are violent, backward, barbaric people whose values are antithetical to Canadian values" then you'd be blaming all Muslims for the misdeeds of one from a far-off place. Anyway, this had been explained multiple times, but you remain too thick to 'understand'. You continue to tell yourself, and try to persuade others, that posters who reference anti-Islam sites and use broad-brush statements about Muslims while talking about the crimes of individual extremists only mean "the bad ones".
  18. The new law seems limited to a city or area, not the whole country. Also in India: Hindu mob tied him to a lamppost and reportedly beat him for 12 hours while forcing him to chant praises to Hindu gods. This particular guy was suspected of stealing a motorcycle, but this kind of violence against Muslims has been increasing in India, often based on a Muslim having beef. The recently elected Modi government has emboldened this violence against Muslims and other minorities. The government is also fond of chants, specifically "Hail Lord Rama", which they chanted when a Muslim member took his oath. Mobs use this chant when beating on Muslims.
  19. If so, he'll no doubt do better than the 3% he currently shows in the polls.
  20. Perhaps if everyone voted their heart instead of their fear, Bernier would get a sizable vote and the other parties would take note. I understand strategic voting, but think it could lead to politicians thinking their policies got them elected and underestimating the impact of the "fear" of the other party. It's pretty sad that voters end up ping-ponging between their worst fears.
  21. Excellent that you have a candidate that matches your political leanings.
  22. Sure, because you describe European immigrants like this too: I guess next time you demand that Canada bring in more Western Europeans, Australians, British etc, I can remind you that you include them as part of the barbarous, illiterate foreign-speaking, diseased riff-raff that are swelling our line-ups for health care.
  23. Jewish filmmaker chronicles Muslim experience under Trump. "It was important to Zucker to reflect the diversity of the American Muslim community, and to dispel misconceptions. More than once, subjects of the film bemoan the fact that many Americans incorrectly think that all Muslims are Arabs, and that all Arabs are Muslims. In fact, most Arabs in the US are Christian." "Zucker did not turn “American Muslim” into a primer on Islam. Viewers will not come away more knowledgeable about the Quran or the life of the Prophet Muhammad. Instead, they will get a better idea of what it means to be both a proud American and a devout Muslim." "Zucker noted that the support (between Muslims and Jews) is mutual. After the October 27, 2018 massacre at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Muslims he met while making the film reached out to him. Kleinbaum said the first call she got after the shocking crime was from Almontaser. "It’s time to disrupt the narrative of hate that Jews and Muslims can’t get along,” Kleinbaum said." Times of Isreal.
  24. Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel about non-white immigrants.
