  1. Ottawa brought in tough measures to contain the housing market which is overheated ONLY in a few places like Vancouver and Toronto and Hamilton however measures announced today I believe is going to significantly adversely affect an already slow housing market in the rest of Canada like Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina among many others or may be even causing a housing crash in these areas. Last time I checked Canada was more than just Vancouver and Toronto. Based on my calculations to qualify for a modest house or condo of $350,000 to $400,000 (average price outside of Vancouver and Toronto) you need an income of over $100,000 (over reduced term of 25 years and loan to income ratio of 32% which includes mortgage payment, property tax and half condo fees, if buying a condo (considering that the new qualified rate is 4.64% not the old discounted rate in calculating mortgage payment) and all these even if your loan to value ratio is less than 80% (or your down payment is over 20%) with this new measures. What percentage of population have 100 thousand plus income to be able to qualify for a modest average house outside the few hot spots? Not many, if any. I believe that since this was a localized problem then municipalities or provinces should have addressed the issue LIMITED only to those few hot spots (Vancouver, Toronto, Hamilton) like the foreign tax in Vancouver which was a great and effective move rather than at Federal level which applies to the entire country even those places where prices already dropping or stagnated. They claim they want to make housing affordable to Canadians but now those who could afford it and still can won't qualify under these tough measures and would remain homeless for a long time to come or until they realize their mistake which for most governments is hard to admit and very rare to reverse. This is the link to the summary http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/personal-finance/household-finances/house-prices-will-not-rise-forever-base-your-financial-decisions-accordingly/article32219135/ You now have to take this test if you’re in this group and want a variable-rate mortgage or a fixed-rate mortgage with a term under five years. Starting with mortgage insurance applications made on Oct. 17 and thereafter, fixed-rate mortgages of five years and longer will be included as well. Mortgage broker David Larock said two-thirds of borrowers today are going with the five-year rate, so including them in the stress test is a major development. This is all the more true when you consider just how tough the stress test is. The idea is to see if you can handle rates at levels that are much higher than they are today. The reference rate is called the Bank of Canada conventional five-year fixed posted mortgage rate, and it’s based on rates advertised by the Big Six banks. This rate now sits at 4.64 per cent, which compares to about 2.4 per cent for a nicely discounted five-year fixed rate in today’s market. Only a minority of mortgages in Canada these days require mortgage insurance, which means a lot of buyers have down payments of 20 per cent of more. While it’s not widely known, lenders are increasingly having these mortgages insured as well. Lenders are bearing the cost of the insurance, so it’s basically an invisible process for the customer. Starting Nov. 30, however, lenders will have to be more stringent in cases where they’re insuring the mortgages of clients who have a down payment of 20 per cent or more. These customers will have to meet the same tough borrowing requirements as people with high-ratio mortgages (down payments less than 20 per cent). For example, the stress test will be used and the maximum amortization period will be 25 years. Finally, the government is closing loopholes that foreign buyers use to avoid paying capital gains tax on homes in this country. Canadians do not have to pay tax on the gains if they sell their principal residence for more than they pay.
  2. Certain applicants who have the intend or even potential to come here and impose their backward way of life or change our lives because they think their way is better should be barred from coming here. I don't know exactly how this can be determine maybe left to the interviewing officer to determine. That said I am very much against regional ban as many good progressive deserving hard working people who happened to have been born in certain region out of no fault of their own will be barred to come to Canada and contribute.
  3. The gap between Trump and Clinton closing, Yahooooooo . http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/us/elections/polls.html?_r=0 Soon Trump will be the preference in the polls and the next US president. A nice change from the weak and indecisive Obama presidency.
  4. Is this an electric chair made of gold or the bullet made of diamond??? You know how much it cost to keep someone in jail every year not alone for a lifetime? The latter cost less!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me. I am talking about proven dangerous offenders who have committed rapes and murder like Paul Bernardo who video taped his actions or Robert Pickton for whom there were tonnes of evidence. Keep them in jail for life and tax payer has to pay for the cost because of some soft hearts.
  5. Karla Homolka was having parties in prison!!!!
  6. The Lebanese started coming after the civil war, Somalis after the sub-Sahara war, Iranians after Iranian revolution, so you are saying before all that (say prior ti 1970) there was no drug problem or drug dealers or shootings or drug traffickers in Ottawa, right?
  7. WILL YOU GUYS THEN SUPPORT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR A REPEAT VIOLENT OFFENDER??? YES OR NO? A repeat violent offender is someone who violently raped and/or murdered an innocent randomly selected defenseless victim and was given a second chance by the justice system (parole, good behavior, max 25 year release.......). Upon release soon after or anytime after he commits the same violent crimes against same or another innocent defenseless being. Or you softies would argue that there is still a chance of one in a million that he may have been convicted wrongfully a second time as well!!!!!!!!!!.
  8. How many times we have heard about cases that violent criminals released on parole or bail or for good behavior take more victims after? And can you assure us that even for those few cases that it may be permanent (though most judges recommend not a release for 25 years max. so if he is in his 20's he is released a young repeat offender) that they won't escape from prison until he dies of old age, Not to mention that tax payer like you and me have to pay to support and feed the animal for the rest of his life? Where are you guys (taxme, Argus) when we need you?????
  9. I do but either they don't get it or they wish to divert attention to other cases to discredit my argument in the debate. Even the title says violent crimes for proven cases..........
  10. I hope you mean someone who is wrongfully convicted (and for Repeat offenders is very very unlikely as being twice convicted for the same type of crime) as I strongly believe that someone who violently attacks and rapes and murders defenseless women and children deserves to be sent to hell just like a wild dangerous animal because he just looks like a human but acts like an animal. Walking on two legs doesn't make a person human.
  11. If you have read my post then you know that my main reason and focus is to SAVE future victims mainly women and children rather than satisfying my urge for revenge and punishment as you mis-described above and rather than being concerned about a humanoid who walks on two legs but acts like a dangerous violent animal.
  12. What happened to your son is unfortunate and I am sorry to hear this about our justice system and law enforcement. That said I am not sure this was a rule but rather an unfortunate exception. More importantly please read the title and the posts. I am asking for Capital punishment for VIOLENT crimes (and all the evidence of a violent attack or murder must be presented in court for conviction) for proven cases not every case of sexual assault or those simply charged.
  13. Please read my posts. My main purpose for advocating Capital punishment is to SAVE his/their FUTURE victims and existing statistics confirm the fact that a majority of sex offenders are REPEAT offenders. You people are so focus on forgetting and forgiving as a modern way (thankfully it is not a Canadian way as per recent poll by Angus Reid) that you are forgetting about all these future sure victims (thousands upon thousands).
  14. Now purposely raping and killing defenseless innocent women and children by the sub-human beast is the alternative outcome. Do you support that?. remember statistics indicate that many sex offenders become REPEAT offenders taking more innocent victims. Save the future victims which statistics show is a sure outcome. So before you answer picture all those faces falling victims. What is wrong with you people. I am shocked by the responses to the poll so far I am glad this is not representative of Canadians.
  15. These are rare and exceptions. What you guys son't understand is that you SAVE a lot more innocent victims falling to these parasites than the very rare and few ones which may fall victims falsely by the system. There is no perfect solution but we always have to accept the best possible outcome or number.
  16. It is a poll now. You can cast your vote on whether you support a return of Capital punishment in Canada or oppose it.
  17. Yeay!!!!!!. Thank you. A new Angus Reid poll released Wednesday, suggests that 63 per cent of Canadians are in favour of reinstating the death penalty. The Angus Reid poll was conducted online between March 10th and 11th, 2013 with 1,514 randomly selected Canadian adults. The margin of error is +/- 2.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20. Canadians want Capital punishment back politicians so you read this? ACT now!!
  18. Great. I knew that as I read somewhere. A link please can help.
  19. May be When I become the PM. I am just trying to gauge the support and who knows maybe politicians read this political forum and act. Even a conservative majority under Mulroney could not do it.
  20. You are trying to change the fact that MOST men (a good majority) are physically stronger than most women (a great majority).
  21. Not sure what was unclear about my post. I said it won't accomplish the same goal very clearly,
  22. I don't know why stating the fact is sexist. I am a feminist and strong one myself and you accuse me of being sexist!!!!!!!!!. It is a fact that most women are physically weaker than most men. I didn't lie to make women look bad and didn't say they should have less rights. That would have been sexist (and stupid)
  23. No but if it happens I can defend myself but a child cannot and most likely most women cannot either,
  24. Jeez come on. What planet do you live on!!! So the rape tool is only a penis???!!!!!. There are so many various ways and tools an assault can be committed and rape occur. And what about the murder part of women and children. Does incarceration takes care of that too!!!!!!!!.
  25. No not what I said. I said for a man shot dead at a corner store, the suffering is not as severe as a child or a woman molested over some period of time and then murdered. The other factor I mentioned involved is a crime against the defenseless (women and children and elderly) than a man who is capable of defending himself.
