So you are saying the border crossings are on either side of the bridge. I suppose then that the border guards on either side of the bridge gets to check the traffic before it crosses. But there is no way that everything could be checked and it wouldn't just be enough to check the people. What if someone has a bomb in a vehicle but controls it by remote and blows it when the vehicle is in the middle of the bridge. It could take the bridge down and all the people on the bridge as well. You don't even need a suicide bomber for that.

I agree that religious persons should not be subjected to this so-called abuse and my solution is to abolish religions. No religions, therefore no religious people, therefore no religious people being so-called abused. The first step towards abolishing religions should be to immediately abolish tax free donation status for religions, and to abolish all religious schools. Why should my taxes be higher because of some religious nut getting a tax break? Who knows that religious nut could well turn out to be a suicide bomber. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Religion is such a problem that it has become an international human right. I shouldn't even glorify this with a response. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try telling that to the people who live in the UK.

Ever since 9/11 it has been non-stop in The Windsor Star about the Ambassador Bridge being attacked. It would literally destroy trade between Canada and the United States. It would probably cripple our economy. They've been yammering on about this for 4 years now and honestly, I'm sick of hearing about it. It's good that we've tightened security since 9/11, something the government should've been doing all along instead of reacting to the deaths of 3000 people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where are the border crossings? On either side of the bridge or both on one side of the bridge? I forget.

Global warming doesn't exist, does it?
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Even George Bush has now agreed that mankind's behaviour is contributing to global warming, so we can now forget the charade. The biggest threat to solving our global warning crisis is the US and in particular the corporate community. -
Bush to announce his choice for SCOTUS
mirror replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Bush Picks John G. Roberts Jr. as Supreme Court Nominee So much for women having any say in the good ole USA! What a ignorant choice unless of couse you are trying to create controversy to get the Rove exposing a covert CIA spy issue out of the way for a while. -
Too bad the Democrats had such a dud of a candidate in John Kerry in the last election. I think though that the American people are finally beginning to catch on: Poll Shows Bush's Credibility Slipping

What do Toronto and Penticton have in common?
mirror replied to kimmy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, it's different! -
I would surmise that the largest problem facing our planet is global warming. If we don't get a handle on it soon, and it is already too late for some as the following article reports, humankind may perish. How are we going to solve this crucial problem if we can't even agree that the problem exists? People need to start connecting the dots. Heat Wave Blamed for 11 Deaths in Phoenix

Bush to announce his choice for SCOTUS
mirror replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Right. That's why Rove was excluded from the State dinner list of guests for the Indian PM last nite. Typo, I hardly think so. Bush was all set to delay this nomination for some time longer when it go too hot in the White House kitchen for his administration. -
Here is an article that suggests Canada is going to be hit probably sooner rather than later. The terrorists seem to be winning this psychlogical war as Canada has already spent over 10 billion on security since 9/11 so unfortunately we will have to forgo all those tax cuts people keep clammering for. Now you can't blame the government for not making tax cuts as they have spent all the money on security. Which would you prefer? 'We are not immune'

What are their demands? That the US leave Iraq. A reasonable demand IMO.

Bush to announce his choice for SCOTUS
mirror replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It will be another conservative hack judge who has little or no connection to life in today's America. The only reason Bush is moving up the date and announcing it today is to try and get Rove's exposing a CIA agent issue onto the media's back burner. Rove's day of reckoning is coming probably in October. -
Because when Mexico and Brazil invade Canada and your neighbour straps a bomb to his chest and blows himself up on the bus you took to work, it's your stupid moron of a neighbour who is to blame, not Mexico and Brazil. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh really! So if Mexico and Brazil had never invaded your neighbour would be doing that on his own. How ridiculous a statement to make. Kneejerk reactions or responses are useless and only make matters worse. You have to get at the root of the problem to fix it, not some superficial quick fix that actually fixes nothing but only makes matters worse. The root of the problem for the discussion in this case is limited thinking abilities of people who can't see that it is the occupation that drives the suicide bombers.

Who knows what people will do in times of war? Maybe something went wrong, maybe it was a mistake, just like when US missiles go off course and kill innocent civilians. All violence does is create more violence. I thought we would have learned that by now. Too bad the US didn't listen to Canada and other nations when we said there is a UN for this kind of situation. Now the US is paying a huge price with close to 2,000 of their own troops dead, and probably over 100,000 Iraqi dead as well. What a wonderful Bush administration legacy.

Because the Gomery commission is dealing with old news - the Chretien regime. In case you hadn't noticed he hasn't been there for a while. My hunch is that Martin is coming out unscathed and will rock and roll into another Liberal majority government. Imagine 5 Liberal governments in a row! -
Osama bin Laden must be laughing It seems that this invasion of Iraq has been really botched by the Bush administration. Look for the US to pull out with their tail between their legs before the next Congressional election in November, 2006.

If you are going to quote me do please use the entire quote otherwise it distorts what I am saying. I assume that you agree with my statement that it would not be Canadian terrorist's fault for any deaths if they were to fight back against an invader, and the same goes for Iraq terrorists fighting back against their invaders or puppet governments.

I wonder how many of these polls are actually push polls? And of course polls are an attempt to manipulate people as well. We really are a bunch of sheep and like to go with the winner. The occupying forces in Iraq should be held responsible for the suicide attacks on UK and US soil. If some country were to invade Canada, there would resistance in many different forms, and people would die. Of course it would be the invaders that would resposible for the Canadian deaths, civilian and otherwise. So why is it so hard for people to accept the fact that it is the US & UK that are responsible for all the deaths in the Iraq?
-
But we didn't have to have this war. however if you are so much in favour of war why don't you go and sign up for the US Marines or join the Canadian troops going to fight the taliban. I hear they are having difficulty getting recruits. I wonder why.

Look I didn't pick 1,700 dead Americans (and we haven't even discussed the number of dead Iraqi people) out of the thin air. I researched the numbers before I posted it (And newbie those figures are common knowledge even though Bush & Co. have tried to hid the body bag count and the actual bodies from the US people since the war began). And now it has been confirmned by newbie with US Dept of Defence stats. There is nothing wrong with admitting one is wrong. It happens to the best of us sometimes, even me (this is a joke).

This is a very interesting post and I am surprised that no one has responded to it by now. I wonder if that means every one agrees with you.
