  1. Not according to the Canadian charter of rights. The funny thing about strong supporters of democracy is that they never feel that they have to prove where western style democracies have clear advantages. Just more of the usual "if you don't vote, then you can't complain" BS! Real ironic that democracy supporters don't really care about what's written in the charter? WWWTT
  2. Actually, in my opinion, when you vote, you are agreeing to our political system. Right now Canada is ranked #15 in world economies! If you think going out and voting is going to reverse the slide, then go out and vote! Come back 5 years later when Canada ranks even lower, guess who's to blame? THE VOTERS WHO APPROVED OF OUR SYSTEM! WWWTT
  3. Ya just as I thought, you haven't done much research on the SCC. 7 of the nine were appointed by Harper. Beverly McLachlin was first appointed by Mulroney, and was appointed as the chief by Cretien. The final one was appointed by Martin. Not just that, Democracy=opportunity to rig the outcome! WWWTT
  4. What a load of BS! Judges sitting on the supreme court are appointed by the PM! Don't like the appointees? Vote for another PM. Stop using this "democracy" loophole to spin circles! WWWTT
  5. What YOU are saying is actually a contradiction. The charter would only be "weak" if no one respected or applied the charter. Terms such as weak and strong can only be used if someone is testing. As well, section 33 of the charter is not so commonly used as you imply. Furthermore where it has been sterotypically used in Quebec language/signs etc, it has hurt the province in it's crusade to defend their culture. WWWTT
  6. Work to do what? Impose the US will? Obviously the US model isn't that great?Maybe the world goes on without the US. WWWTT
  7. Good thread first off! Big problem with the US is that they made too many enemies. Cuba is the largest Caribbean nation, has a high level of education and excellent health care. Overall, Cuba is a successful communist nation. The US can learn tremendous from Cuba. Obviously, the US has less to offer Cuba than Cuba to the US. Either way you look at it lessening tensions and opening trade and exchanging thought/beliefs/lifestyles/culture is a huge win win! WWWTT
  8. HA! WWWTT Edited to add: After reading the comments here in this fantastic thread, I'm afraid I'm contributing to a bad tourist thread drift. My apologies.
  9. Wow, if true, the US has some screwed up laws. WWWTT
  10. Wow that's quite the assumption there! Borderline racist assumption to boot! WWWTT
  11. When did running away from a cop become a reason to kill someone? WWWTT
  12. Too bad the same standard wasn't upheld for the guy he shot. WWWTT

Sorry Squid but you're thinking of all of the Chinese workers that have died building the trans Canada railroad in the 1800's.

Oh and by the way Squid, you sure like commenting on my status updates even though you block me from commenting on yours HYPOCRITE!

  13. Good link you provided. Yes big argue or debate. I feel that they failed in Iran. Cuba is obvious failure. As well, one must acknowledge that sanctions are to only impose one countries will over another. Just because a country like the US Canada UK etc has a will to impose it's values on another region does not mean they are justified in imposing their standard on others. Failure to in this recognition will only lead to further problems and is simply poor negotiations! WWWTT
  14. This link is a semi US policy patronage. Suggesting that sanctions actually work. I thinks if posters here on this site are going to continue posting this stuff, then you are going to have to post links where it is clearly shown that sanctions actually work! Sanctions by the US are ongoing with nations like Iran, Cuba and North Korea for decades now (among others) Sow these are clearly failures in the effectiveness of sanctions. As well sanctions against Russia are now hurting the Canadian and European economies! Many EU countries have come out and said enough is enough! WWWTT
  15. Sanctions are like drinking poison and expecting your enemy to die/fall ill. In other words they hurt more than they help. It's not ironic that this is a Chinese idiom, so the Chinese know very well sanctions won't work hence they have the #1 economy! The UK isn't even in the top ten anymore I believe. WWWTT
  16. No that's a feeble old link my friend. Snap shot of the past. 2002 was 13 years ago. The link I provided speaks volumes because the US is the only thing keeping Israel afloat. US aid is too important to jeopardize for them. Something tells me you did searches already and didn't like what came up. http://tnjeoli.blogspot.ca/2014/12/the-worlds-top-5-arms-exporters-2014.html WWWTT
  17. Lets see your sources. Mine show another story. Israeli sources report that a top Israeli defense official was forced to resign recently after the United States “expressed fury at Israel’s decision to sell military equipment to China.” The incident hearkens back to the Israel-China Phalcon airborne radar system deal which was cancelled at the United States’ insistence – the cancellation of that deal resulted in a costly settlement for Israel which had to pay China $350 million in damages for backing out of the contract at the “last minute” under U.S. pressure. The more recent indent involved the sale of Ricor miniature refrigeration systems, which are ”used for missiles and in electro-optic equipment.” And this http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LEVjr.RiBVnG4AUA8nnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTByZDBpbXI5BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkAw--/RV=2/RE=1428207487/RO=10/RU=http%3a%2f%2fdefensetech.org%2f2013%2f12%2f24%2freport-israel-passes-u-s-military-technology-to-china%2f/RK=0/RS=OkO8dYTOqeWwd7FAmuO2CZAsc6o- WWWTT
  18. Makes no difference, both countries are getting the short end of the stick. WWWTT
  19. China and Russia have imposed no sanctions that I am aware of? Furthermore countries like France Germany and the UK are much smaller economies than what you may think. Countries like India and Brazil that openly trade with Iran among others, are in no need of making any deals to lift any sanctions that they have not imposed. WWWTT
  20. Ok fair enough then. However, there hasn't been enough comments on this thread to say some generalization term as you did. Perhaps among your circle of friends or your area in which you reside, what you said applies. But not so far on this site. WWWTT
  21. Never knew China had a "military" alliance with Israel? I know China has numerous trading partners. That's actually part of their success in becoming the #1 world economy! Now what is it that Israel has that China would be interested to barter for? The only thing that comes to mind is selling US military secrets to China. WWWTT
