  1. It will cost Wai any chance she had of winning the seat. Also the NDP is running Meena Wong, a Chinese Canadian as well, which will draw some of the Chinese vote.
  2. The games people play. One of the seat projectionists is presently forecasting 74 seats for the NDP. I'm not surprised seeing all the absolute nonsense in the mainstream press.
  3. Times are a changing.
  4. Only in Quebec you say. Think again. Too bad Liberals. Too bad Conservatives.
  5. Wai Young won't even speak about her private meeting with Malik, and she was absent from an all candidate's meeting today - she is finished.
  6. Dosanjh was proably going to lose his seat before the Young/Malik encounter. Either Young screwed up or her handlers screwed up big time. Either way it is now going to cost her the Vancouver South seat she probably would have won otherwise as the Liberals and Dosanjh were on the ropes. These mistakes add up and eventually poof no majority. How dumb can you be!
  7. Interesting seat projections. NDP will win more seats than Liberals — new predictions Is Canada ready for Prime Minister Jack Layton? Today’s polls show that the NDP has reached Liberal levels of support — EKOS has the two parties tied at 24.7% apiece, behind the Conservatives at 34.4%. And this doesn’t seem to be a one-poll anomaly — four other polls are saying similar things. What’s more, the distribution of NDP support is good — my model predicts that the NDP will win 81 seats to the Liberal’s 73. In every region of the country, the NDP has made gains over the last few days. Of particular interest, the NDP seems to have become the federalist choice in Quebec, solidly out-polling the other two federal parties and even the Bloc within Quebec. The model predicts 29 seats in Quebec, more than the Bloc at 22, and more than the Liberals and Conservatives combined. The NDP has also roared back to prominence in its historical stronghold of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, winning a predicted 34.7% of the vote and 16 seats. So what does this all mean? First, if an election were held tomorrow, the NDP have a 95.2% chance of winning more seats than the Liberals. http://themace.ca/?p=209
  8. Regardless, thanks to her meeting with Malik, Conservative Wai Young is toast in Vancouver South. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Radio India commentator says landscape has changed in Vancouver Southhttp://www.straight.com/article-388866/vancouver/radio-india-commentator-says-landscape-has-changed-vancouver-south
  9. Actually it is of major significance as it continues the momentum for the NDP and proves that the surge is real. And media experts are saying that attack ads this late in the campaign don't have the impact they have at the beginning of the campaign. The ads are just basically noise now. Record Quebec crowd swoons over Layton But after ignoring Layton for most of the campaign, the Liberals and Conservatives had launched attack ads directed at the NDP. The change of tactic is a sign of panic, say some observers. Sources told QMI Agency the Liberals are stunned by the turn of events in the last several days, despite what they say has been a flawless campaign. The Liberals pivoted Saturday with an attack ad questioning how the NDP can afford its platform. Journalists covering Layton on Saturday were hounded with BlackBerry assaults from the Liberal campaign on the dangers of NDP immigration policies and how Layton's cap-and-trade system will bankrupt Canada. Duceppe - trailing the NDP in Quebec in an historic turnaround - has called on separatist fire-breather Jacques Parizeau to pump some life into the ailing Bloc campaign. Meanwhile, Duceppe's dance partner at the provincial level - Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois - says Layton is a danger to Quebec. But the new found adoration, and what some pundits are calling a rock-star-like rise in popularity, means attacks are inevitable and just a part of politics, Layton concedes. "This is not the first time that people have put a target on my back. I can bob and weave as anybody else and I take it as a compliment. I really do." http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/CanadaVotes/News/2011/04/23/18058311.html?cid=rssnewslast24hours
  10. Lighten up - we're here to have fun. Do you think anyone is unbiased here? Anyway what do you think of Wai Young's judgment?
  11. Reminds me of Trudeaumania!
  12. Why in the world would a candidate running to become a member of Parliament hang around with the likes of Rapudaman Singh Malik?
  13. Don't think so, well Monday, May 2nd, after the polls are closed, but usually if it's a high turnout it is not a good sign for the government, and apparently voting has been quite heavy. The Bloc are in full scale panic mode and those Conservative seats in Quebec are looking less and less secure now. The fact that the Bloc are calling out Parizeau for a rally on Monday is just one indication of their desperation. Tweets show Bloc on offensive as NDP leads polls in Quebec Any doubt the Bloc Québécois is playing panicked defence can be put to rest. The Bloc is spending Easter weekend desperately shoring up its base, appealing to hard line nationalists who appear to be losing enthusiasm for the party under Gilles Duceppe. Under Mr. Duceppe's name, the Bloc fired off a hostile tweet early Saturday proclaiming the election a fight between “Canadians and Quebeckers.” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-notebook/tweets-show-bloc-on-offensive-as-ndp-leads-polls-in-quebec/article1996548/?from=sec368
  14. No need as Montreal has the best subway system in Canada.
  15. This very successful NPD rally today in Montreal will help contribute to the continuing NDP surge. Look for the NDP to increase its support in the polls. 16. How utterly ridiculous. The press will get Harper tonite in BC - it's payback time for drowning out the media's questions at Harper's presser this morning in Ontario. BCers know very well who Malik is. Do you? Hint: a very similiar situation to the OJ Simpson saga.
  17. Layton has a chance for the brass ring.
  18. Layton: If the Liberals are complaining about our platform - why did they copy most of it?
  19. Layton scrum about to start - what an amazin' contrast from bubble boy Harper. August must be crying in his beer today.
  20. Rosemary Barton of the CBC: Ok. I'll admit. I've never seen an NDP rally like this. Not in 08. Not this time...until today. #elxn41
  21. This is quite the rally Jack is taking on Harper - he is going for the prime minister's job. Interesting.
  22. Harper is in full blown panic mode - imagine having to go all the way up to Vancourer Island North today to try and save Duncan's seat. I wonder if Harper is bringing his buddy Carson with him - I hear Carson & Duncan are good buddies. All this when Harper should be working Ontario. The Conservatives must be in deep do do in BC.
  23. Some of those Conservative seats around Quebec City appear to be in trouble as well.
  24. You can watch it here as well: http://www.ndp.ca/jack-layton-live The band if you can believe it, that's playing is called "Tracteur Jack" from Gatineau.
  25. Huge crowd for NDP/NPD Layton/Mulcair Rally in Gilles Duceppe's Riding in Montreal Live blogging by CBC http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/04/campaign-2011-ticker---special-weekend-edition.html She's a hoot! Dear @GillesDuceppe I'm in your riding. But with another man. #elxn41
