  1. You don't do research, Argus. You're proving it here again, for the umpteenth time. You present completely illogical, vacuous responses and as soon as that is pointed up to you, you leap to respond in exactly the same fashion. Genocide is multi-faceted. You now know, having been told, that genocide doesn't require that all from a group perish. But still you persist. Why do you lack the honesty necessary to admit you were mistaken and move on.
  2. Because that isn't how a supposedly democratic country is supposed to operate. There are very good reasons why those decisions are left up to judges in a court system. If there is one crooked judge, an appeal can be made to a higher court. But things are kept in the open, where they should be, not hidden away in little Gitmos.
  3. I won't cite chapter and verse, but if you go back and read what Graham actually did say, you would see that the fantasy is yours, S.
  4. Actually, that would be a much better reward than any of the carny trinkets I offered. Sorry, Graham, would you like some corn on the cob, with enough butter and enough salt to give you an instant coronary. What you are saying, S, probably is still largely true. But however true it is, it is precisely what is wrong with education and teachers. Teachers that are right in the trenches aren't completely to blame, as there are higher up teachers/admistrators/school boards/politicians who are more responsible for, the outright crap that is taught, and the crappy way it is taught. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you suggest cybercoma address the actual, real issues instead of heaving heavies? I'd like to hear how moonlightG's ideas illustrated that he knew nothing about education; now I'm talking about the real meaning of education where the things that are learnt are then put into use in real life.
  5. It's not a miracle, Freddy, it's a simple fact of life. Most, but not all people, are sheeple.
  6. BING BING BING!! GIVE THIS MAN HIS CHOICE OF PRIZES!!
  7. Y'all have the far right, the tea partyiers, in your tent. Without them there'd be no Conservative party at all. You really are such inclusive folk. And Harper is the perfect PM for y'all.
  8. What you are illustrating here definitely is not cojones! You might consider, this one time, doing some research. Do you need me to describe the meaning of 'research' for you?
  9. The rats description is apt.
  10. "Speaking of ignorance", (non pejorative) you SEEM to recall as important an issue as this is, but you don't think it necessary to bring yourself up to speed. Don't you think that this is a serious and bad habit for you, Argus. All this, and you pick a signature line with an arrow pointing directly back at you. “Public opinion, I am sorry to say, will bear a great deal of nonsense. There is scarcely any absurdity so gross, whether in religion, politics, science or manners, which it will not bear.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
  11. It's not at all surprising that 72% or 92% of Canadians could be ignorant about many things. The word has definitely morphed and likely the overwhelming majority of all English speakers don't even realize it.Which illustrates a real widespread ignorance.
  12. I'm wondering why you don't stick to emoticon logic, Argus, 'cause it is a whole lot better than the above. All laws, all constitutions, all treaties, all ...s are inventions. All are ideologically based. How has THIS also escaped you?
  13. Following your emoticon logic, the "They'll still be more truthful and more logical" ones, how has it escaped you that Jewish people still exist on planet Earth? Is this not abysmal ignorance, Argus? Non pejorative sense of course. (See below) M-W :the state or fact of being ignorant :lack of knowledge, education, or awareness
  14. I gather that you would have us regard your emoticons as both your source material and the sum total of your arguments, Argus.
  15. Then we can have a discussion about this very important issue. A good start would be with you revealing the source for the issues you have raised, Angus.
  16. Does anyone know how many times Stephen Harper, or any of the Cons cabinet, or for that matter, any politician of any stripe, showed up at any T&RC meetings?
  17. It's always puzzled me why when Whitey commits genocide we get truth and reconciliation commissions but when dark skinned people do it, Whitey is there, front and center, screaming for war crimes trials, screaming for justice to be done. This of course follows when Canadian Whiteys demand punishment for all the Serena Nicotines, young aboriginal kids put in their predicaments by six generations of a brutal genocide, but real investigations into missing aboriginal people gets a huge MEH, if even that.
  18. Being called ignorant isn't always a bad thing. The primary meaning has, for most people, shifted to the negative connotation but everyone is ignorant about many things. For example, OGFT, like you and most people, consciously knows very little about English grammar.
  19. Wow, where are all the usual suspects? Is this rats abandoning a sinking ship?
  20. So, you agree. The greed, corruption and cronyism of the royal family are of the same result of the human condition that other equally corrupt individuals have fallen into. We can all agree on that. But surely you aren't trying to explain away their connivance in war crimes and terrorism by saying, "Well, Hitler, the USA, Stalin, PolPot, have all done the same things!" By Queen Liz being an active party in the theft of the land of the Chagos Islanders, we have a clear picture of greed, corruption and cronyism, not to mention war crimes and terrorism. Iraq and Afghanistan too.
  21. Wait'll all that fracking sets loose the next big one. Then more than your heart'll be broken.
  22. Putting murdering half a million Iraqi children into context sounds like a tall order. Have at 'er, jbg. Would you like a new thread for this?
  23. Michael has described an excellent point, Angus. Certainly it wasn't the silly assumption that you leaped to, as he himself noted. The connection though, runs long and it runs deep.
  24. Yes, the USA set the stage for polpot's rise to power with a massive series of war crimes against the people of Cambodia, all the while, committing equally massive war crimes against Vietnam and Laos. After PolPot and the Khmer Rouge were forced out of Cambodia, the USA spent enormous sums of money and political capital feeding and arming these butchers in Thailand refugee camps. The USA doesn't, has never cared, who they deal with, right wing or left wing extremists, no matter how vicious, as long as the usa's bidding is done. I know that there are a lot of terribly addled brains out there from a lifetime of USA propaganda, but it's true. Look at how the USA aligns with right wing Taiwan, then jumps to China. Remember, China is one of the biggees on your boogeyman list.
  25. And I replied, and I was not the only one who told you that it doesn't help your position to point out that the USA is the equal of all the usual suspect bad guys. I pointed out that while PolPot gets all the bad press, the USA was his full partner. Remember the propaganda, DD, the USA is supposed to be the Lone Ranger, the guy in the white hat saving people from the bad guys. So I know it's a major blow to people's movie addled minds, but the USA has never once in its long and sordid history done anything for altruistic reasons. That BS was all just for the propaganda mill. Don't you feel used?
