I'm with you on that!!! Gotta give Bush & Co. "due credit" for ALL the "bailouts"... And "SELLING" the $700 BILLION dollar bailout, TARP, to OBAMA to sign onto, WOW, a masterful stroke of GENIUS 100 times better than the effort of selling the WMDs in Iraq story... Congratulations Mr. Bush et al, you truly know the American public EXTREMELY well... Once a CON always a CON... As the saying goes... "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." Something the Dems should have learned, but didn't...

You forgot the word "YET" in your response...

Me too! As for Layon, I have exactly the OPPOSITE viewpoint of him and my wife will switch channels if she sees him talking that's how much she dislikes Layton AND the NDP... Nothing "FAIR" about elections in the Canadian system... A Government should have a mandate of 50% plus 1 to Govern, by whatever method that may be achieved... BUT, it is what it is... Regardless Canadians will get the Government they DESERVE, after all, they're the ones that end up paying for it one way or another...

Are you kidding me? Yeah, you must be kidding... Layton's #1 concern is Layton... Let me correct that... Layton's ONLY concern is Layton... Let's have a look at Layton's "demands" and what Layton wants to take credit for if any of these come about... - Removing the federal sales tax from home heating bills and [no brainer - a "populist" option that may become a part of ANY party's "platform", especially if an election is during the - non heating period - problem is it's highly unlikely to be implemented the following heating season or be in any "new" budget.] - restoring the EcoEnergy Retrofit program; [The LIBERALS implemented this program (I took full advantage of it). The CONS kept it going for 3 years before cancelling it even though it worked VERY well. The CONS may put a version of it back in because it'll get them votes. The LIBERALS are sure to make this a part of their election platform. Layton want's to take credit for it.!?!?] - Increasing the Guaranteed Income Supplement for low-income seniors; [Already in the works in one form or another by ALL parties. - No guarantees that action will result. Likely nothing will get implemented by the CONS post election. Another "nothing" demand from Layton to try and "look good".] - Expanding the Canada Pension Plan; [same answer as previous since it's basically the same issue.] - Hiring more family doctors. [WOW! Really? What party ISN'T for this one? The CONS may "take it OUT" if they think it'll LOSE the NDPs support for their budget and trigger the election the CONS want. Nuff said.] Which brings us right back to square one... Now we'll see how badly Harper wants an election OR how badly Layton doesn't want one...

BC, that's what I like about you, you're an honest man, and of course that didn't contribute a thing towards the high (and very expensive to any economy) unemployment, which BOTH parties (and more importantly the general public) see as the #1 issue in both our countries...

Awww, you sound like you need a hug...

It's always prudent to remember how quickly things can change in Canadian elections once Canadians REALIZE there's something's going on and start paying attention... A 20 point "swing" in an election is hardly unheard of... The Harper government is governing with the support of roughly 1/3 of voter support meening that 2/3 of voters are AGAINST the Harper goverment, fairly standard numbers for Canada, I wouldn't bet against it once the Liberals trot out the Harper record in ernest...

Exactly as I said in my opening statement... Now we'll see how badly Harper wants an election OR how badly Layton doesn't want one...

Thanks for adding that link... Most Canadians know full well that Layton and the NDP are all about putting members into parliament, so if things aren't looking good for the NDP they'll "sell out" their principals (which they really never have) for a penny every TIME... - A senior NDP official said that in exchange for this concession, Mr. Layton’s conditions will have to be met if the NDP is to support the budget. “For us to not want [corporate tax cuts] taken out in this budget, the balance of the package is going to have to be very good,” the official said. “That’s why there is little or no room to bargain down from our proposal today.” The NDP Leader’s shopping list is modest in length but could be costly in practice. It includes: - Removing the federal sales tax from home heating bills and restoring the EcoEnergy Retrofit program; - Increasing the Guaranteed Income Supplement for low-income seniors; - Expanding the Canada Pension Plan; - Hiring more family doctors. “Our talks were cordial and respectful,” Mr. Layton said in a statement. “The Prime Minister offered no assurances, but I am confident that my proposals were received and well understood.” Dimitri Soudas, Mr. Harper’s communications director, issued a statement describing the meeting as “a positive sharing of views.” - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ndp-takes-corporate-tax-cuts-off-the-table/article1913724/ Should be interesting how Layton and NDPers will be spining these items, which esentially are ALWAYS "on the table", for ANY government in power, as "their ideas" if/or when a government implements them and how Layton "forced the government to implement them... It is to laugh how "consistant" NDPers are...

Layton and Harper had a private meeting in Harper's office today as reported on CBC Party and Politics... The meeting lasted about 45 minutes... Now we'll see how badly Harper wants an election OR how badly Layton doesn't want one...

Not even some good laughs? People like him don't bother me... People with single digit IQs never do... Hey, in some 15 years on boards including the Hannity Forums I've never reported anyone to a mod... This is the first time and only because this forum quite frankly, with all those rediculous "rules" is probably the most boring, and least fun forum I've ever been on... If it wasn't for the few people like yourself, BC, DoP and some others that know how to have a little FUN I'd have been long gone already... Think I'll wait till I get booted and enjoy myself until then... BTW - CFL schedule's out, first game (4 us), Big Blue vs pussy cats... -

Highest Immigration numbers in 57 years.
GWiz replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Naaa, they still hate 'em... They just realized that Canada is the most underpopulated country in the world and NEEDS immigrants to survive in today's global economy... In their view of course only a "certain kind" of immigrant, which they're working towards, but none the less it's a good thing for everyone in Canada... -

Not even if that person was in one o' dem dar SUPER F-35s and had a mile headstart... No worries though, if ANY country, including the U.S. of A. were to EVER touch off a NUKE, even a small one, that country would simply cease to exist within a matter of minutes thereafter... Of course so might the rest of humanity on this here little planet, but that's a choice that wouldn't matter, and EVERY nuclear power in the world KNOWS this including the minor players... I believe the term (both in the past and still VERY MUCH IN EFFECT today) is "Mutually assured destruction" with the "mutual" not necessarily applying to those other than the initial user... -
Harper's 16 Billion Dollar Fighter Jet Purchase Plan
GWiz replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree... You see I for one am NOT willing to take the chance of Canada having to cancel when it's too late and Canada ends up with NOTHING but a few "servicable" OLD and falling apart CF-18s as you are... Nor am I willing to mortgage my grandchildrens future along with Canada's by an at any cost purchase that could easily end up costing 30 t0 50 BILLION DOLLARS just to put on a show for people who couldn't care less about Canada... The fact that YOU are willing to do that means that either you didn't read or fully understand that the F-35 is looking like a very untenable purchase for Canada or that YOU don't care about the Canadian Debt load and it's future implications... Did you follow any of the links to see what I was trying to convey to you? I think not, or you would surely have come to a different conclusion, OR, as I've stated before, you are shilling for the CONS with no regard for the vast majority of Canadians... Care to have another look - http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=17363&view=findpost&p=626929 ? -

Naaa, no way, don't you know that in the U.S. of A everybody is a crack pot-er-shot and nobody ever gets "accidentally" shot... Don't you watch television?
