While my neck is pretty red on the subject of immigration, it is not right to simply lump all Syrian and other nearby battle zone "refugees" together as cowards. We are talking about a population that was barely armed, untrained and not financed at all being assaulted by a government force of professional soldiers backed 100% by Iran and Russia. A significant number put up one hell of a fight against impossible odds for several years. Others, such as the Yazidi were victims of an intense campaign of genocide. With no serious effort to verify regugee claims, however, the real heros and victims are not likely being sorted out from the cowards, opportunists and embedded terrorists.

Educational "services" off reserve are paid from provincial and municipal taxes. On reserve, no taxes are paid, but education is provided on the Federal tax dollar. Not the basic literacy foreseen by treaties, but an aboriginal can attend any school at any level for as long as they please. AND, in many cases, they will be graduated from post-secondary institutions without that nasty bother of meeting the same academic standards of those who are paying tuition to attend. Medical services on reserve are no different from any other small or remote rural community - except they are paid by a government to whom nobody on reserve pays any tax at all. Fresh foods, road, electricity, water....all paid for by those in other remote communities from their earnings - all provided for by the great white government on reserves, and almost in all cases operated by the reserve (for which they are well paid by Ottawa) but fall into dissrepair since few bother to actually go TO the job of maintaining and operating. Horrible problems with mould? Well, no different from any other home in a moist environment when you don't bother to do any maintenance. 90% unemployment, unlimited access to resources to repair and maintain, but somehow it is white man's fault it isn't maintained?????? "We" have long ago achieved many things on behalf of the aboriginal population. They, on the other hand, have achieved next to nothing from the endless resources and dollars they have been given (except, of course, to go into the gambling business with the mafia).

AGAIN, they are SO ignorant they are playing right into the Conservative's hand. I THINK (no real measure) the people have finally seen the JWR and Phil are the good guys (OK, gals, but this is a politically correct administration, so I can't be sexist or even gender biased) and the Liberal buffoons are showing their true colours.

Aboriginals already HAVE their own country: Canada. What they need is to be treated equally, not at some level of very, very special privilege. Obligations for wrongdoing are legitimate - but only for those actually wronged. I believe we owe their descendants absolutely nothing that every other Canadian is not also able to access. Race based anything is not only highly discriminatory, it is also just plain wrong.

There is an extremely simple solution: give them the Capital Region and Quebec. The Liberals make such a fuss over aboriginal issues let them live with them into perpetuity.

What I LIKE about the current cabinet and PMO is they are so totally inept the public can clearly see how much they lie. Thanks very much to JWR and Ms. Philpott for helping to show. Parties are not run by elected officials, they are run in the back rooms. The back room at LPC belongs outright to Power Corp. and their friends. Sadly, the bungling morons in cabinet are drawing the attention away from that. No good balance there.

Not true at all. China made a declaration some time ago that there would be no new coal fired plants built. I/we thought that meant re-fitting existing thermal plants with gas burners. Not how they do things there. They will simply replace the whole plant(s) with new gas fired plants. Problem is: China doesn't have that much gas. It DOES have extremely limited LNG receiving capacity (dominated by CNOOC). You can get a license to build a new gas fired plant in the bat of an eyelash, but you can't find any place to offload the LNG nor any ability to get a permit to build a pipeline from the LNG terminal to your new plant location. Not Canada-damn-near-impossible, but China-oops-we-forgot-about-that slow.

Yabutttt: we certainly have more resources per capita than any other country (and FAR more per capita in SK than any other million people on the planet) but hewing wood and drawing water are drawing on a very limited bank account. What we do NOT do worth a shit is add value. We sell a hundred bucks worth of coal, oil, uranium, whatever to China or the USA and buy it back as a grand or more worth of product. Got to fix that first. Our only significant value added export business is cars and car parts - and that depends almost 100% of the US. Got to fix that too.

Only exception is the caution that China is rapidly increasing in operating costs due to wage pressures, environmental protection costs, infrastructure costs, etc. It is impossible for Westerners to realize how fast everything moves along in China. Most of the stereotypes of life in China are 20 years out of date. And 20 Chinese years are worse than reverse dog years - more like 200 over here. Another note about income and cost of living there: NOBODY reports their income honestly, or many at all to Chinese authorities. One of the big problems for Chinese coming to Canada under immigrant entrepreneur programmes is that they have to be able to show WHERE they got their money - and few can or will. Similarly for cost-of-living numbers: many of the index items are government subsidized up the ying-yang (my yin and yan joke for the day). BTW: we let terrorists into the country with scarcely a half-assed effort to do a real background check, but we blow away people who have proven themselves as successful entrepreneurs by the boatload. Hint: entrepreneurs won't vote Liberal.

I can see you haven't done any business in Russia. VERY different from China, but how do you suppose a handfull of oligarchs got to be billionaires overnight? I'll give you a hint: it wasn't from being honest nor ethical. In China, you will get wiped out by unfair business practices, in Russia someone just puts a 45 to your head and squeezes the trigger.

You extremely limited knowledge is based on some web blog you have searched for to support your unsupportable position. Mine is based in living and working with aboriginal bands and people for much of the last 45 years. Giving them protected land, free housing, free education to any level and extent they want, free health care, free EVERYTHING anyone could possibly want is not genocide, it is a privileged life that no other Canadians can get.

You literally have no idea what you are saying. This is not Turkey where we slaughter our minorities, it is a fantastically wealthy country where we give our aboriginal population huge privileges that are not available to the tax paying population. We are not trying to kill them off (nor has any European immigrant) we are trying to get them off their privileged ass to stand on their own two feet as equals.
