I'm pretty sure Smallc was referring to the term being meaningless, not the action. I'm sure you and Peter F actually know that and are just skewing his post to paint him as something else...right?
-
It also depends somewhat on who the "offender" is. For example, if you looked like Brad Pitt and made a comment or innuendo, I'm pretty sure most woman would gush with flattery as opposed to if you looked like Nick Nolte's mug shot.
-
I haven't said that yet....ever, and I'm not saying it now.
-
Or...maybe that's exactly what they're doing and we haven't figured out the spin yet. Maybe they wanted Trudeau to jump the gun and look insensitive toward these women. Hmmm... Personally, I don't care one way or another if the Liberals and NDP have a little spat going.
-
I'm not questioning that he's using this to his advantage - it's political gold for him. But, as Big Guy said, he had his hand forced by the very people who were making the accusations and looking for results.

Sexual harassment isn't always about some creep leeching over a woman. He could've called her a fat ass, he could've told her to go get the men some coffee, or let the men do their job. I get what your saying, but sexual harassment is treating someone different or as less than...based on sex/gender. It may have nothing to do with being a perv.
-
Exactly, Trudeau had to do what he did, otherwise he'd be setting himself up for a...well, a setup. I also agree that we need to know why Mulcair seemed to dust the issue away, and why his people had to speak to the leader of another party - that just seems wrong!

Yeah, how obvious was this? CBC execs are a bunch of scum bags. And....Just look how they've mistreated Don Cherry over the years
-
Yes, that's right. Being a looney or a flake don't equate lying. Her story seems quite legit....she's still a flake!
-
No, I called her a looney...not because she's a victim or because she's a woman. Calling her a looney is totally independent of her situation. I've never suggested that she was in any way lying.
-
Get away with what exactly?
-
I haven't bashed a single victim, I have not called a single victim liar and I have never suggested that women should do anything other than come forward.
-
I'm one of the few saying "let's get the facts"...and I'm narrow minded?... More narrow minded than those who want to crucify these men before hearing word one? Really?

I've got an amusing anecdote; When I was younger, I worked in an office, one of our clients was a mortgage broker (very well off financially) and sent a lot of business our way. He had a wife who was from another country. She wanted to get out of the house so my boss gave her a part time job. One day a group of us were in the lunch room, I was talking about the movie "Dirty, rotten scoundrels" (aging myself) and made the comment that I'd love to move to another country and have a sugar mommy take care of me-lol!. This woman overheard the comment and started blasting me. She went to my boss with a sexual harassment complaint and threatened to tell her husband. My boss had no idea what to do, the entire staff backed up my story, but that may not have even saved my job. My boss said he'd talk to her husband about the misunderstanding. The next day, her husband told my girlfriend (who worked for him) that she's just overly sensitive and that my job was safe. The moral is; let's find out some facts before calling people victims and perpetrators.

Even though Cybercoma and WCR are misandrists, they at least contribute and bring thought into a discussion, you literally bring nothing - ever.
-
BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS SAID!!! Whatever was said didn't seem to bother Mulcair.
-
No, its about perspective! I believe that Ghomeshi is guilty of sexual harassment because we've heard the victims stories, the only thing I ever questioned was whether those stories...or incidents are criminal charge worthy. I think if you relax, you'd see that. As for this, sorry but I do want to know what the accusations are before throwing out terms like victim and perpetrator. Should a guy lose his livelihood for saying something like "typical woman" or "nice wiggle"? (things women sometimes say to men also) I'm sure you think so, but I'm more compassionate than you. If some guy touched a boob or said "I smell your twat...then maybe yes, he should be let go. But I don't think you or WCR care one iota about what happened, as long as a woman said she was offended - that's all you need.
-
Women...always the victims and men always the perpetrator....just the way you like it! And don't even try to disagree! Ever heard of a woman falsely accusing a guy? I bet you haven't!
-
Have you not heard me say that women should come forward more often? I never fucking fight against rights, or equality. You fucking feminists do not care about the trail you leave though, that pisses me off. Call out a guy for harassment - great, it should be dome, but don't hide and lack accountability. If you're angered enough to allow a persons job or freedom to be taken away - fine, stand up and be accountable!
-
No, but it's you who said "anything for a vote". I agree.
-
I'm not arguing whether they should be suspended or not, am I? As for presumption of innocence, ask cybercoma if she presumes them innocent. JT wants to be a champion of women's rights, that's what he wants. Especially after the Ghomeshi incident.
-
My opinions are simple, you accuse someone of an offence - fair enough! But, I believe anybody who is claiming they're a victim of abuse should come forward and call their accuser to task. And, if they are elected officials, they should clearly state their story and why they are levelling their accusations. The public needs to hear directly why the person they elected is getting removed from their job. I know you don't give a good god damn about men, but these guys have families and careers and deserve to have the truth come out. If that truth is sexual harassment, then we'll all dust our hands at them and move along.
-
If a person...any person is gonna accuse another person of abuse, they need to own up to their accusations. This is a very serious situation and we have two families who are going to damaged by these accusations, the least an accuser should do is stand up and be accountable. And this situation is even moreso, what if you voted for any of these people? You should know why you're elected official has been fired.
-
These are elected officials that just got suspended. The women involved, the NDP and Trudeau owe it....yes, owe it to the public to come clean about every detail.

That's because it wasn't set in the 19th century.
