  1. I'm not......My views are squarely based on the shared views of all the nations involved in the program…….the F-35 is the future and will be the mainstay of these nations armed forces into the decades ahead……..only the ignorant, such as yourself, would favour 20+ year old designs, like the Super Hornet, to meet the requirements of a modern air force out to the 2040s & 50s……….simply put, what you’re advocating with this approach is akin to an air force today operating aircraft like this: .
  2. Don't confuse your ignorance with the real world aerospace R&D......
  3. So your concerns of a lack of an air superiority type being selected, which entailed a measure of reliance upon American F-15 Eagles to provide air supremacy, by the Liberals doesn’t really keep you up at night? I'm shocked!!!!! I never suggested that it would replace all other types........The Americans will replace their current air superiority types, the F-22, F-15C and F-15E Strike Eagle (and the Super Hornet) with a 6th generation type in the early 2030s.......
  4. Yet coupled with the USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group in the Gulf ,from which the air strikes will likely be launched, the United States also has the USS Bataan ARG in the Gulf full of Marines........I wouldn't bet against this intervention eventually escalating further, as air strike alone will likely not prove effective...
  5. Perhaps, but a few targeted air strikes, once they prove ineffective, will lead to further equipping and the training of Iraqi and Kurdish forces……..which will lead to Special Forces on the ground, both shadowing the Iraqis to provide both operational advice and to act as forward air controllers, well also deploying more covertly to both locate and aide in the targeting of further targets……. I would personally be surprised if SEALs or Green Beret were not already on the ground with the refugees to aide in the air drop of humanitarian relief.
  6. To summarize the reason why there will be Western intervention in Iraq and not Syria or Gaza is very simple, unlike conflicts in Syria and Gaza, the continued destabilization of Iraq (and its neighbours) will jeopardize the flow of the World’s economic lifeblood:
  7. Yes, that one, when the Trudeau Liberals didn't select the superior F-15 Eagle......You appear all pent up on Air Superiority types...
  8. Don't they know that single engine aircraft aren't safe in the North? It appears Norway has also made the same mistake: And will repeat it with the F-35!!!!
  9. So you feel the Trudeau (the elder) Liberal selection of our current Hornet fleet was the wrong choice?
  10. When was the last time Canada operated an "air superiority platform"..........The F-35 is to the F-22, what our current Hornets are to the F-15.
  11. I guess the USAF didn't get the memo on operating the single engine F-35 in cold weather...... Somewhat surprised they didn't join the F-22s in Elmendorf, which would allow the closure of Eielson, and in turn save money...........but as mentioned, Eielson is closer to ranges.........So F-35s to the interior of Alaska........
  12. I never did.......clearly the threat of torture helps with more gentler methods.
  13. ......you forgot held at gun point too!! Clearly, a former officer in the RCAF, that flew Hornets and commanded them during a military operation, then became a test pilot for both EADS/Airbus (Flying the Eurofighter) and now Lockheed, that has the shared views on the F-35 with the RCAF leadership, is not fit to comment on the subject..
  14. Exactly and the nature of defense research and development has ensured that many of these programs have spanned the second Iraq war…….Some have been refocused, some altered and some dropped, but defense R&D (and delivery) is clearly a long game.
  15. I’ll rephrase…not nationally sanctioned by the elected Government, nor the upper echelons from within Camp Confusion on the Rideau....
  16. And the retired Lieutenant Colonel is a credible source on our technical requirements….aside from commanding a Hornet squadron and our Hornet contribution during operations over the FRY, he’s type certified in not only the Hornet in Canadian service, but also the Eurofighter, F-16, Tornado and F-4………..and of course all three variants of the F-35………I’ll take his opinions over any bloggers view
  17. It wasn't, hence why the perpetrators were tried and convicted under US military law……..like our own ordeal with the CAR.
  18. I doubt it.....or you would have known of their use of rendition to torture, as such, wouldn't have suggested otherwise. Like the CAR in Somalia, that was not a sanctioned event.
  19. How much bad press has Diego Garcia received? Big difference between an actual intelligence operation and some trailer-trash National Guardsmen and women....
  20. I do understand.....I also understand that you have no clue on what you're talking about with regards to MI6 and it's use of rendition to torture......and not just dribbling water over someone's head, but sending suspects to places where their fingernails would be pulled out......... The outcomes have shown that softer techniques, coupled with the actual threat of torture do work.
  21. No, they just stopped doing it directly, but like the United States, made use of rendition for terror suspects, and would even pass along questions to be asked by intelligence services that made use of torture.
  22. Note quite.......MI6 used water boarding throughout the Troubles, coupled with benefiting of the threat of torture during the war on terror by threatening to turn suspects over to their Allies that would........
