Greece? Add about 4% to Harper's Numbers
Derek 2.0 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well that didn't take long: The linkage between socialist Greece and the socialist NDP wasn't that far off........ but why would they bring it on themselves? -
It hasn't been released yet, by design........

What Happens When Government Runs Out Of Money
Derek 2.0 replied to Big Guy's topic in Business and Economy
In countless examples through history, when Government is no longer able to pay (or feed) those entrusted with securing law and order, likewise those who defend against threats both external and internal, the Government is then replaced by those entrusted to secure it..........or by someone else's army. Using Greece as an example, since its topical, the World's oldest democracy has seen centuries of invasions and civil wars and infighting, with the post-war period having seen a bloody civil war and the democratic government later replaced by the army in the later 60s.......Third times a charm? -
(A Lynton Crosby like) Strategy, likewise why the Tories have yet to unveil the platform for the next four years.....

Greece? Add about 4% to Harper's Numbers

I don't seem the remember balanced budgets in BC through the 90s under the NDP, but I do remember, during our last election, Adrian Dix promised to repeal BC's balanced budget legislation....... -
Privatization (which includes "contracting out" as opposed to hiring salaried staff) and the loosening of (Federal) Government oversight......furthermore, the (re)liberalization of several aspects to the private ownership of firearms and devolution of the Wheat Board (and Supply management?).......several more major free trade deals...etc etc
-
If by "external management company" you mean a cadre of Hellenic Army Generals (yet again) booting the Government, especially if the current Government moves closer to Russia, then I wouldn't discount that possibility......I'm sure, like other Greeks, Constantine II is unemployed and could dust off his robes and crown.
-
I disagree, especially in swing ridings...... That is based on the assumption that I find (my) mainstream party "repulsive", furthermore, with party politics, individual membership in a party, can lead to greater participation in crafting party policy.........after all, parties are simply a reflection of their membership.
-
There is no plausible scenario in which the Tories win a majority, of any stripe, with a libertarian party receiving enough votes to mater politically......in the last election, in not a single riding did a Libertarian candidate receive more than 1% of the vote....... Why give your vote to the CPC? Simple, they are the only party with a shred of Libertarian ethos that can form a Government......or elect an MP.
-
The Libertarians are not anywhere near the same position the former PC party was, nor the emergence of the Reform (born out of the PC and Social Credit parties) to be in the position to budge the party in any direction.......The Libertarian movement in Canada, like other countries, is stillborn and not even competitive with the Greens........ If one wants Libertarian polices, join the party (CPC) that is the next best thing and make your case from within........there is already a Libertarian wing within the CPC for that mater, with several members in cabinet.

It is without a doubt, with such motivations based both on ideology and politics...........Simply put, when Government revenue is cut to the bone, the left-wing parties are left with little to no wiggle room in promising more social largess, sans tax increases (as made evident by the promises of both the Liberals and NDP to do exactly that). -
I've read a Dutch ministers remarks, in which he states the rest of the Euro zone will have to start considering a humanitarian aid package for the Greeks....

Don't be so sure No one has yet to make such costing public and open to scrutiny, and in turn, derision and fear. -
Some ideas, if tempered, have some merit: Some ideas I'd think would be worth adopting wholesale: And some ideas are plain nuts: At the end of the day, regardless of those proposals that might have merit, the party is a non-entity and not electable......Some of said policies, as I said if taken in moderation, could be very well be adopted, if there was a logical case for them made, at a CPC policy convention.

Similar to the "Shy Tory" phenomenon, that results in Conservative/Tory parties often polling lower than actual results in an election. -
Time to dump my olive oil futures.......

I've always been a strong believer in Friedman's flat tax combined with a negative income tax, doing away with the countless tax avoidance schemes, well also riding ourselves of the countless social welfare programs......to your concern of abuse, without a doubt there would still be examples of it, but if someone pissed away their monthly income, there would be zero safety net to fall into........fairness and Darwinism for the price of one.

Polls close in just over 1/2 hour, as so far, it looks as if the "no" side is in the lead......... ------ A German news crew was attacked by a mob in Athens ------ Greece has run out $20 Euro bills, reducing the $60 Euro daily withdrawal cap to $50...... ----- Final results should start coming in around 11am PST......buckle-up

NDP Make Big Move in Latest EKOS Poll
Derek 2.0 replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Of course not, as clearly just following orders does not make a defense. None the less, if Trudeau wasn't in the loop of a probable Soudas play on Mulcair, he will wear it just the same, right or wrong.......hence my surprise that someone(s) would make such a poor attempt, sans a shred of truth, on an opponent this far from the election......its bush league, as there is far more to attack both Mulcair and the Federal NDP on, this far out, to help shape a narrative.
