I do think that negotiations do take place for kidnappings of canadians, especially with employees from the oil industry (ie alberta). We just don't hear about it. Do not kid yourself. We do negotiate and we do pay.

If it were a famous tennis player/golf player (ie Tiger Woods kissing his wife with cake in his mouth),would you honestly start a thread condemning the horror of it all. I highly doubt it. Starting a thread about this has a very strong undercurrent of homophobic mentality. Be at least honest about it and admit it. If you had a brother/son/father/uncle/grandfather who was gay, would you have started this thread?

Good point. There are folks here who want Brown found guilty and there are folks here who want wilson to face justice and there are folks here who want answers. And I hope that all of us want solutions that will prevent this from happening less frequently. And that may include better police training and more community involvement between police and citizens. And that applies to Canada as well.
