  1. And it's still a police state tonight. Quite ridiculous.
  2. And how do you know that?
  3. If Brown was shot 6 times and the last two were to the head, that means he was charging the officer with 4 bullet wounds. How could that possibly be? He was probably on his way down to the ground, overcome with his injuries when his head was hit with 2 more bullets (maybe the cop felt he should put him out of his misery, like a wounded animal).
  4. I too wonder why there aren't more protests for black on black crime.
  5. Looks like I spoke too soon! Here are some quotes from the NRA and other conservatives: Gun Appreciation Day founder Larry Ward lamented: "I think Martin Luther King, Jr. would agree with me if he were alive today that if African Americans had been given the right to keep and bear arms from day one of the country's founding, perhaps slavery might not have been a chapter in our history." William Kostric repeated Thomas Jefferson's credo that "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots." Michele Bachmann declared "I want people in Missouri armed and dangerous on this issue." Glen Back warned that "violence will come" and with it, "rivers of blood." Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association (NRA) explained how he would keep rogue cops in line: "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." Rush Limbaugh put the needless tragedy in Ferguson in its full historical context: "If a lot of African-Americans back in the '60s had guns and the legal right to use them for self-defense, you think they would have needed Selma? If John Lewis, who says he was beat upside the head, if John Lewis had had a gun, would he have been beat upside the head on the bridge?" So there you go! They have spoken out.
  6. Can you elaborate on what your n's mean?
  7. The NRA would have jumped all over this if this were a white kid shot dead. They'd be shouting from the rooftops, 'get your guns because we need to defend ourselves from the militarized police force.' This is a perfect opportunity for them to do some grandstanding, but they are strangely so very quiet.
  8. An interesting opinion piece in Maclean's discusses the NRA's silence on this issue. "This seemingly perfect spectacle for NRA outrage—the shooting of an unarmed man, cops with outsized weapons, mass arrests—is flawed for one reason: Michael Brown was African-American. As such, he doesn’t fit the profile of the typical NRA member and, apparently, doesn’t warrant the group’s paranoid rage it has displayed in the case of Randy Weaver, a known racist who was armed to the teeth at the time of the standoff. The NRA’s lack of rhetoric about Michael Brown, like Trayvon Martin before him, speaks volumes about the group’s other reigning paranoia, this one, race-based." This seems to be true. I haven't seen any NRA talking heads making their tv circuit to promote gun sales against this militarized police, although I have heard that gun sales have increased in this town (not surprising).
  9. Many baby boomers are finding themselves in this situation. Some are creating their own job by buying a business, starting a business and providing consulting services. Many options are available, however it's the fear of the unknown that paralyzes many. Analysis paralysis stops many in their tracks.
  10. Sugar is also very addictive and very unhealthy. It causes many health problems and can shorten one's life. Should it also be illegal or restrictions put on its use?
  11. No actually, we watch americans in action because canadians in action are boring! Canadians also understand americans know nothing about Canada. We get that! Tell us something we don't know. I have no clue what MH once posted.
  12. My responses were not representative of a canadian expert on american culture and race. This is where you seem to be confused. I am still confused as to why you have a problem with canadians weighing in on issues in America when you have no problem weighing in on Canadian issues. Where is the difference exactly? Did we finally find your sweet spot?
  13. Of course I knew the name. I have violated forum rules yet again and with the same infraction! Dam! Best you ignore. Are you man enough to take it?
  14. A slip of the tongue. O
  15. Now, please report it and ignore.
  16. heh, I have no idea if you are black. Nor could I care less. You are just a moron,
  17. It's very sad. There is a big chip on his shoulder.
  18. Obviously you can't be taken seriously. I won't respond to your posts any longer.
  19. Yes, I mean Brown, not Ferguson, my mistake. I certainly have more clue than you might expect. I just don't get why you push back at Canadians. This thread is about Brown, not Sammy. Are canadians not allowed to extend their support for issues beyond our border? Is that a problem for you?
  20. No idea what you are talking about. However, I am glad it causes you amusement rather than anger. In this thread, I was pointing out Ferguson being gunned down after he had 'surrendered'. You can think what you want about white canadians supporting a 'black' teenager. I would have done the same if this happened in Canada.
  21. I certainly agree with that. I have no assumptions and I have no belief in labels. I abhor labels.
  22. I never proposed to solve racist problems in America but when I see blatant issues, I have no problem speaking out about it. I'm not sure why you are trying to muzzle my support for rights of a teenager in Missouri. What exactly is it, that bothers you about this. You seem to really have an issue when white folks speak out in support of black folks, especially when it's canadians vs americans. I don't get your anger about this. Am I crossing the line because i'm a white canadian?
