Fortunata Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Harper's policies have been MOR. He has offered honest, clean administration with few if any scandals and no wholesale patronage. His government has not governed by entitlement as the Liberals invariably do. Harper's government is kenly aware of who pays the bills. He offered honest, clean transparent government and what did we get - more of the same old corruption. As far as the argument goes that they haven't reached Liberal proportions yet, my question is ... how many things does one have to steal to be called a thief, how many lies does one tell before they are a liar, how many scandals before one is no longer clean, how many secrets before one is called nontransparent? For such a successful government, it's a surprise that they are low in the polls. I reckon that some English Canadians just can't accept that one of their own can be a success. Maybe it's something in the water. I don't call this government successful. They are low in the polls because of this and because people don't trust Harper. He is either a huge flip flopper on what he formerly believed or he doesn't have convictions necessary to really have a vision. The spin is he doesn't back down but look what he now espouses compared to just a few short years ago. Quote

Can you tell us what he's stolen? noahbody Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Hope. Did you hope the Liberals would keep stealing your money? Quote
capricorn Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Did you hope the Liberals would keep stealing your money? "Hope", in Liberal terms, has taken the shape of a Green Shift Plan. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
eyeball Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Can you tell us what else he's stolen? Trust as in income trust for example. I think it was a good move but then I didn't vote for him on the basis of his promise not to tax income trusts. Nor did I vote for him on the basis of a promise to kill the gun registry or on his stated disbelief in AGW. He's stolen a lot of people's trust and by extension their faith in politics and government in general. These latter thefts rob all of us by injecting even more cynicism into an already very cynical electorate. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
Fortunata Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 "Hope", in Liberal terms, has taken the shape of a Green Shift Plan. No, hope as in a hope for promises kept such as: ethical government, honest government, a transparent government. I should have said trust as eyeball did. Nothing to do with Liberalism as you so like to label or anything green, but just good common-sense middle of the road life. Quote
