Sadly I doubt it, but I am not hiding my relative (and naive in this particular instance) optimism.

Granted, it could bring forth two fundamental shifts;

1. The election a Guardian Council free leadership.

2. Increasing petrol (refinery) production, both for domestic and export purposes.

I just wish both sides realize they need each other. Iran needs the US if it wants peace, security and prosperity, and the US must also make many concessions if it hopes to not make the issue of Iraq an even bigger blot on their record.

I'll say it again: Should have left Mossadeq alone - but oh no - he didn't want to allow his country to be raped by Big Oil.

Iran has her problems, but they are hers now and up to the Persians to solve. WE need to stay the heck out of it. Bombing them into the stoneage will not help anyone - if anything it will only increase the hatred of the USrael alliances and create even more chaos and bloodshed (oh sorry that is what they want afterall isn't it? I think they import a lot more than 40% of their oil. Those crazy ululating mullahs refuse to invest in their own oil infrastructure, but would rather spend it on Russian weaponry and Chinese nuclear technology while oiling Hezbollah's war machinery.

Soon the could find themselves in a position similar to Iraq around 1990 huh; in debt up to their eyeballs - then what - invade another oil country. Of course, a nuclear Iran will be free to walk into any country of their choice to 'liberate' anything they need for their "Islamic Revolution".

Iran's president has threatened to distroy Israel, several times. He's barking mad, if he obtains nukes god help the free world. The people of Iran need to remove him from power and make sure he takes his Mullahs and Imams with him. Ahmadinejad has stated unequivocaly that Israel should not exist numerous times, moreover, he has done so with no significant opposition so this must mean it is national policy. If at some point he chooses to put his words into actions will any one stop him?

What's in a name? People in Iran are still brutally oppressed and killed for their views and exposing the truth. I really don't see the point in drawing a distinction between one sect that perfers stoning women compared to beheading them.

I think if the President of Iran does not take heed of the revolt over the rationing of petrol, his unpopularity will increase among Iranians. It is an internal affair brought about by Ahmadinejad's foreign policy and lack of investment in oil refining infrastructure. It works in concert with boycotts by western nations to rein in this despot.

That may be their cultural heritage and roots but the brand of Islam that is being practiced is Wahhabi Islam. It has nothing to do with being Shia or shiite, the mad mullas and Imams are Wahhabi Cult followers.

As for the US being a bully, give me a break. Iran a domocratic country good grief what are you smoking? Iran is a country that executes rape victims and hangs homosexuals. Good grief talk about blinders on. However; I'll take a bully over Iran's fanatical, hateful filthy leader. The man is barking crazy. The people of Iran have no one to blame but themselves, they elected him and his pack of mad Mullahs and now they lie in the bed they made. If Iran continues to threaten Israel the US, Canada and Britain will gladly stand by our friend Israel's side to protect her from Radical Islamist's Leader who has the gleam of world domination in his beady little eyes.
