Black Dog Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I meant after US independence. Our wars have nothing on the multiple European and Muslim wars. Every war I cited was post Independence (save, obvioulsy, for the Revolutionary War). As far as the Crusades wrecking Islamic brilliance, that isn't quite what happened. At best, it could be said that moderate Islam, being closest to the European "front" was more moderate and the Crusades left more predescessors to militant Islam standing. So when the Crusaders put every Mulsim in Jerusalem to the sword that was...what? Lucky? You're saying it's lucky that 3000 perfectly innocent Americans were slaughtered? That's sick. Don't be an idiot. It was lucky for the people who perpetrated it. A one in a million shot. Not quite. My point is that I've worked for 20 years in a row, shoulder to shoulder with minorties. Some projects they take the lead, some I do. It is a genuinely equal relationship. I can say with pride that my firm is one of the few that walks the walk, not only talks the talk. Great. But, wrt to Arabs, you've shown a considerable degree of racial antipathy. Just because you work with the minorities you work with or are a minority yourself doesn't make you immune from racism. I don't want that to be the outcome. But if it's genuinely us or them, I choose us. The mere fact that we are capable of carrying out the kind of slaughter you feel may be necessary shows that it is not "us or them". We can destroy them, reduce their nations and cities to cinders. "They" have no ability to reciprocate. Quote
jbg Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Great. But, wrt to Arabs, you've shown a considerable degree of racial antipathy. Just because you work with the minorities you work with or are a minority yourself doesn't make you immune from racism. I don't have as much opportunity to work with Arabs. I will tell you that I worked tirelessly, on a very small retainer, to save the franchise of a gasoline station/convenience store owned by a Palestinian from being auctioned off in bankruptcy. I can't honestly say, though, that I've worked extensively with them. If called upon, I certainly would. You might not agree with my opinions, but a bigot, I'm not. I'm anti-prejudice with every ounce of my being. The mere fact that we are capable of carrying out the kind of slaughter you feel may be necessary shows that it is not "us or them". We can destroy them, reduce their nations and cities to cinders. "They" have no ability to reciprocate. "They" have the ability to reduce substantial numbers of innocent people to cinders. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

I'll chalk that up there with your protests that despite being right-wing on most domestic, environmental and foreign policy issues, you are in fact a the leftiest left winger in lefty town. "They" have the ability to reduce substantial numbers of innocent people to cinders. How many Islamic states have nukes? One, with Iran maybe within ten years of getting one or two. The conventional and nuclear arsenals of the western powers far exceed anything the Arab or Muslim world has. It's not even close. Quote
