BubberMiley Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Really. When has it been broadcast? What channel on the TV machiney thing. Showtime. It was on early this year. I think it was a torture movie double bill, along with Saw II. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
Figleaf Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 I still don't get why Christian fanatics are so upset about Madonna on a cross. I mean, Christianity doesn't OWN the history of crucifiction. Were there extensive protests when Spartacus depicted hundreds of dudes hanging on crosses? What's the beef here? Quote

That old 1960 release was prior to the Internet, political forums and more relaxed political free speech. In general people of that era only protested in the form of song especially relating to the Vietnam war and religious protest were pretty well taboo. Quote

Funny though that it, Sparticus has a real connection with McCarthyism and the blackballed commies........... Great movie, great director......... It seems to me that the fanatics involved in this dust-up are driven more by a wish to flex their muscle and revile Madonna than they are with depictions of crucifiction. Quote

Fanatics? Revile? Totally inappropriate words pertaining to mere objection. Your simply cheesed since Christians don't behead people who mock their religion. Quote

Am I aiming a bit over your head? OK, you called the Christian protesters against the Madonna film "fanatics". I merely pointed out that in terms of tactics, they are a religion of peace, not of pieces. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." jefferiah Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I am a Christian. Personally I would not condone Madonna's act, which I think is just plain shock theater posing as artistic talent. But I mean there is nothing I can really do about it, you know. I cant stop her, or NBC. But I think the point being made is that NBC was so quick to condemn the Danish depictions of Mohammed in order to save face in front of Muslims, but they don't exercise the same kind of consideration toward Christians. Well, I dont own NBC so what can I do about it, but I understand the point being made here. Quote "Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish - too much handling will spoil it." Lao Tzu
