I was in Crimea in 2014. It is Russian.

Heck, eastern Ukraine is largely Russian-speaking.

And while I'm on the topic, what is the difference between the Russian and Ukrainian languages?

Speaking a language is not a good indicator of nationality...both Canada and the US speak English does not make us British...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Strongly agree. Very strongly agree.

The Seven Years War was about Prussia-Austria.

In 1763, there were two Treaties in Europe: one decided the fate of modern Quebec.

Since 1867, we Canadians have a federal constitution. Before this, we got along with two religions, two languages.

Pierre Trudeau understood this well.

He once asked this question: "Would you make the West Island the Danzig of the New World?"

Nationalism?

Putin, typical Russian, is protecting himself in a Kremlin.  Russians will eat grass. Like Bulgarians, they survived.

Zelenskyy is playing the Ukrainian nationalist card.

The Poles make vodka with grass in it.

I've had it. Its...different.

Russians, Bulgarians, Poles, Ukrainians, even you...Will eat grass if you have to.

Greeks eat dandelions. I tried that too. Not bad...with lots of salad dressing.

The Green T-Shirt as a world leader? Don't you get robbed enough?

Disagree, Americans generally get along - except when they fought a civil war about a person skin's colour.

We Canadians get along - different religions, different languages. No civil war.

And trust me, we Canadians can eat grass.

Be that as it may...or may not.

Zelinsky is no leader. He's a puppet.

IMHO, we are living in a multi-polar moment, a black hole.

In this void, Trump is correctly say, America is King.

You guys won/lost the various battles in Vietnam and Korea. Wherever.

Make no mistake.

You won the the larger war. You defeated Soviet Communism.

Did they? Or did the people trapped behind The Iron Curtain defeat the Soviet block?

When they lost the various militaries, the inevitable happened.

Ordinary Americans fought in Korea, Vietnam.

JFK stood up to these guys, Nixon tried to negotiate, Reagan said enough.

Eventually, you Americans won the Cold War.

First of all...I'm not American.

Second..."Reagan said enough"? Just what do you think Reagan did to end the Soviet?

Reagan stood up to the Soviets.

As did Nixon and Johnson and Kennedy.

Truman, at first.

IMHO, if Androprov had lived longer, the Soviet Union could have survived.

Gorbachev was well meaning but he killed the Soviet Union.

Reagan was in the right place at the right time. His gum-flapping didn't really effect squat.

The Soviets realized years before that they were broke, isolated and losing their grip on the public. I'd say the increasing and readily available media had more to do with it than Ronnie.

People behind the Iron Curtain could SEE how The West lived and wanted that. They wanted Nikes, fully stocked stores, cars, travel, etc. One thing about the '80's, it was a decade of decadence...and the young people in the Soviet Union wanted in on that.

What they got...was bought out by the World Bank and the EU with their insanity.

Except for Russia to a large degree. Now why do you think The West hates Russia and Putin so much? Because they attacked Ukraine? Pfft...

'I would rather create Russian oligarchs, than sell Russia to American oligarchs.'

How much ya wanna bet THAT decision is at the root of the western hatred for Russia?

Strongly disagree.

If Andropov had lived, the Soviet Union could have continued.

It wasn't just East Germany. It was all of the Soviet States, including Russia, all at once. There was no saving it.
