Trump couldn’t be playing more into the hands of Xi if he tried. I thought we were supposed to see a pivot away from ME wars and to the Far East where three key allies of the West - South Korea, Japan and, above all, Taiwan - are under serious threat from China. Israel is fully capable of taking care of any threat in Western Asia but America has wasted precious munitions and seriously damaged its credibility in a foolish war of choice there. Perhaps Americans aren’t aware of how enraged politicians in Europe and Asia are about a plague of problems that have just been handed to them for no good reason that may cost them their jobs. If the crisis drags on and seriously damages the economies there we could see a global re-alignment away from the US.

I'm not 100% sure what your point is here. I mean the munitions are nothing, America's industrial complex can replace those quite directly as they've been doing for several years now with the Ukraine's needs. I doubt anyone in the world thinks that now would be a great time to attack America or its allies based on the idea they're out of munitions

Credibility may have taken a hit but I'm not sure how that benefits china directly with regards to Taiwan or South Korea or Japan. And realistically only I want is an immediate danger.

There's no doubt that I think there's going to be a bit of a realignment away from the US but from a practical purpose it's not like people could write them out of the picture. They're still going to be a major player either way

This is something that's struck me over and over again over the last year and a half. Trump's global chaos-mongering and vindictive and belligerent blundering has done more to undermine the US global order than any president probably ever, and I don't anyone else would come close.

He's done so much damage to US credibility and relationships that it will probably take decades to restore. Meanwhile, China is sitting there watching it all burn and looking like the more reasonable and reliable trading partner, despite the devil's bargain that entails.

If you were a Russian or Chinese agent wanting to diminish the USA's influence around the world, I don't think you could have come up with a better plan than Trump's USA self-owning.
