August1991 Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 In Canada, we generally show "government identification" when voting. Our federal/provincial votes are a simple X. We choose the candidate. ==== But I reckon that our Canadian census forms are similar to your US election votes. Endless choices. Quote

Our federal/provincial votes are a simple X. We choose the candidate. In the U.S. there are voting process variations by state, with each state/territory having its own rules. In general, voters must be citizens and lawfully registered to vote, and will be asked to verify identity on an automated touch screen or paper voter list prior to getting a ballot to cast vote(s). The warning and penalty for voting fraud is communicated. Some local elections will have ranked choice voting for choosing preferences across many candidates, then a separate runoff election follows. Quote But I reckon that our Canadian census forms are similar to your US election votes. Endless choices. Yes...endless choices...it is the comedy of democracy. Fortunately, voters are not required to mark the ballot for all offices, only those of interest. I stopped marking ballots for judges many years ago. And I always write in my spouse's name for at least one office just for fun to get name in the paper. 1 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

In Canada, we have the idea that we have some else - maybe we're Catholic. Whenever I have been in America, I realised that you Americans have no one else. Quote

Governor Jesse Ventura was a delightful exception...glad I voted for him. Quote In Canada, we have the idea that we have some else - maybe we're Catholic. True...Americans often vote their "pocketbook" cause they only have themselves in the end, including the Catholics. 1 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Minority governments are the biggest in my opinion. 1 Quote Its so lonely in m'saddle since m'horse died.
