US July 1st, 2024 Scotus ruled that presidents enjoy ABSOLUTE immunity from criminal prosecution for any actions taken within their OFFICIAL capacity as President. It was a partisan decision, 6-3 Seal Team 6 was informed and recently Carney was told by security that he should be concerned. This is a sweeping decision without doubt and of course will apply to all future administrations. No doubt it was part of the calculus deciding on the Maduro raid. It does make sense. ............ holding a President accountable post term for actions committed while President - absurd. Since campaign and other illegal acts are NOT OFFICIAL, it is far from absolute IMMUNITY. For instance, it is very obvious that the J6 incitement speech was a campaign act and not part of the POTUS official duties. Quote

Your comments are specific to a ruling; my argument is broadly general in precedent. SCOTUS intentionally couched their ruling in legalese. The ruling raises concerns about the potential (ya think??) for abuse of presidential power, as (any) future presidents may(??) be able to commit crimes under the guise of official duties without facing legal consequences. SCOTUS just built a loophole for abuse......... and it is called immunity. What goes around comes around. Political hacks will definitely use and exploit this ruling - a get out of jail card indeed. and supported in Law - gold plated! Hell hath no fury as a President scorned - Carney, take note! J6? What's that? Quote

I think he learned his lesson last time, he will pardon himself on the way out if Vance is not elected. Quote

Providing he's impeached by the House first, of course. Plan B (25th Amendment) is a better reach ....... Quote
