No. Offer military help, but dont impose without being asked formally. Just keep the border shut and send all the illegals back.

............not sure how sending an occupying force to Gaza, er Mexico would solve U.S. demand for illegal drugs.

The demand is the problem ........ not the supply. Did prohibition work??

Cut off the supply, watch the prices skyrocket and the demand dwindle.

What should not happen is military engagement in another nation without being formally requested by the government, or physically attacked by said government.

Demand dwindle?

Have you any idea of the money we're talking about.

They have the power to corrupt God himself.

Drugs and illegal drugs are a fact of life - like prostitution.

The best you can hope for is education, law enforcement and hope.

Yes dwindle. The price goes up. People cant afford it. The sales drop.

Oh I know drug use is not going away. But it can be reduced from the open use there is now.

Cutting off the supply would have to be part of a full solution. Enforce the vagrant laws. Prosecute users and get them off the street. Education like Nancy Reagan's 'Just Say No' campaign...which was working.

Gawd doesn't need money. If the cartels wanna fight, I say we send Gawd a whole bunch of cartel souls.

............ dude ......... we  don't have the provincial / national finances or infrastructure to reduce the supply to feed the ever increasing demand. It's been reported that the Mexican cartels profit margin is greater than the Mexico's GDP.

China is getting involved as a State sponsored supplier of raw material in the production....... they're not doing it for the money tho - smart bstds are using it as a strategy.

People rage about Trump and his swift boat attacks off Venezuela - his strategy is not drugs tho - it's regime change thru coup.......... the excuse for the attacks is pretty smart tho.

But I digress, drugs will always be with us - the greater middle / lower class cannot sustain a diet of legitimate pharm - they are the market - and increasingly they will pay. Oh, by the way, legal pharm is just as big a problem - difference is the gov collects taxes - it's like a consumer industry. No,  illegal drugs are the beer in the alcohol industry - affordable by any means.

Ya im well aware of the coup being orchestrated in Venezuela. And yes, pharma drugs are also an issue. But just accepting what's going on with the cartels is not an option.

Society is addicted to drugs, period.

But I agree with you (re: but just accepting what's going on with the cartels is not an option) , but like prostitution the demand will ALWAYS exceed supply.

Perhaps. But is both can be minimalized...that would be a "good" thing.

Drugs are not some average thing people just casually desire. They are highly addictive and life-destroying substances that people are hopelessly addicted to. At that point, it is not longer about supply and demand like this is just wanting a cheeseburger or something.

............... not every 'user' is an addict - no market in that, eh? Over 25 percent of the population have used illegal drugs or misused prescription drugs within the past 12 months. Surely you're not suggesting they are all drug addicts.  No, the bulk of the market is what you deny,  casual desire / curiosity / entry

Is it a problem? Of course it is - like alcoholism - part of society, normalized.

America cannot afford to border a failed narco state on its southern border. Is it time to invade Mexico again?

I reckon that this is a legitimate question.

To defeat the Soviets, for good reason, you Americans bombed the heck of North Korea, and North Vietnam.

But then, you dropped bombs on Belgrade. You invaded Iraq - for no reason.

====

Mexico? Go for it.

Don't encourage them!

As I said, if their government requests military engagement, do it. Other than that, I could see random singular drone strikes on cartel leaders and holdings as acceptable.

To defeat the Soviets, the Americans put Pershing missiles in West Germany.

Surely the Americans can put drones in Mexico.
