The Russian Collapse in our lifetime, what comes after?

When Putin goes away, so will the Russian. The most likely immediate affect will be a civil war and power struggle culminating in a national collapse. What will this mean for the region? The countries bordering Russia will likely make a move. The Turks will eye peices of the Caucasus and Crimea. China, if they are still around (unlikely) would try to go for the resource rich Siberian region and Russia far east. Absent a chinese conquest the siberian region would remain undeveloped as it currently sits. The Japanese would take control over Russia's far east islands. Finland and the Swedes would recapture their lost territory to the Soviets and then some? We forget that the ethnic Russians and Ukrainian were viking settlers. Fun times.

And what, if anything, do you understand about Russia and the Russian people?

The West wants Russian resources. The IMF and World Bank tried to buy them the same way they bought the former satellite states. But Putin said he'd rather create Russian oligarchs than sell Russia to western oligarchs. That really pissed off a lot of greed driven bankers and businesses. 

The bottom line.. 

The West has grossly underestimated the Russians. And only now are they realizing the cost.

As Trump said years ago...the USA would do well to ally itself with Russia instead of carrying this stupid hatred.

It's a valid question, why should America be enemies with Russia? The european have warred with one another for centuries. American isolationism was a resonse to that.

The problem is geography. Russia does not have good lands. I seriously mean that. There are not a lot of geographical barriers to stop an invasion. So it’s been the Russian playbook to expand as far as they can until they can reach a defensible barrier. Subjugate the ethnic minorities in their path and throw them as cannon fodder against the next group. They reached that point at the end of World War 2. This is what every single Russian leader has tried to achieve or maintain. Putin won’t stop until he has conquered and subjugated the balkans and Baltic states. Unless there is a security guarantee for Russia that they are willing to accept.

Russia? Does not have land? I am Canadian. I have traveled to various parts of Canada and Russia. By car.

If there any people who under distances, they are Australians, Americans, Canadians and Russians.

Good * lands no. Like Canada, the majority of Russian land are uninhabitable due to permafrost or short growing by season. It’s also flat which makes it easy to roll invading tanks and horses through.

I’m going to need a full thesis for you to prove that Canucks are actually different from Americans. I’m convinced Canadians tell their children bed time story about not being an American just so they can explain the concept of Canada. And don't use speaking french as an excuse, America had the French Louisiana purchase where the majority of settler were from Acadia and France, their descendent are the Cajuns some of whom still speak fluent french.

I’m afraid China may gobble up quite a bit of Russia, thanks to brilliant Mr. Putin and his very special military operation. The Asiatic part of the Russian Empire was on thin ice anyway. Nobody wanted to move there from Europe. China needs the land, water and resources and may well take them from a decrepit state weakened by war. More bad news for the rest of the world.
