WestCanMan Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Kudos to CNN for picking on an adult this time instead of a minor. While slandering random civilians would be a huge embarrassment for most news orgs, this is a big step up for the likes of CNN, WashPo, and NYT. 3 Quote If CNN gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, leftists would believe everything they typed. If you missed something on the Cultist Narrative Network, don't worry, the dolt horde here will make sure everyone hears it. Ex-Canadian since April 2025

robosmith Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 6 minutes ago, West said: Sure. "Paywalled". Well it was paywalled, but now they've updated the site: Quote As the jury was gearing up to determine punitive damages, 14th Judicial Circuit Court Judge William S. Henry announced that Young and CNN reached a settlement for the amount that would be awarded to the Navy veteran. The settlement amount was not disclosed. So we don't know what the settlement was. 1 Quote

User Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 15 minutes ago, robosmith said: So we don't know what the settlement was. We know he won the defamation and got 5 million in damages. The settlement came after this so CNN could avoid punitive damages, so it is a safe bet to say it was more than the 5 million they are already ordered to pay. Quote

LMAO Here you go Sea Lion. First fish is free, after this you are on your own. "Plaintiff Zachary Young sued CNN in 2022, accusing the Warner Bros Discovery unit of destroying his reputation in a segment on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” by branding him as a profiteer who exploited desperate Afghans by charging exorbitant fees." ... " In a segment on The Lead, CNN said “desperate Afghans” trying to escape the country were being “exploited” with “exorbitant” and “impossible” fees charged for evacuations. The segment turned to focus on Young, displaying his name and photo next to a chyron saying evacuees faced a perilous “black market.”" https://www.yahoo.com/news/cnn-found-liable-defaming-u-173150968.html Edited January 17 by User Quote

The article cites somewhere in the range of $120 million (from what I can recall). However, I believe they've updated the article as it appeared punitive damages would go to further decisions by a jury, however, it appears they may have settled now 8 minutes ago, robosmith said: MAKE YOUR CASE.
