Black Dog Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 So, the PM is openly naming names to have some kind of co-ordination of duties but members are still free to nominate someone else. (The Liberal PMO apparently pulled strings behind the scenes to play high school politics.) Nominate themselves, actually. The point here is that Harper is on record as opposing prime ministerial appointments of committee chairs. The fact that there's a loophole allowing members to nominate themselves (and thus publicly position themselves against the PM-something I'm sure Harper would be just thrilled about) doesn't change the fact that Steve-O was against PM appointments before he was for them. The "scary/hidden agenda" Harper line was old a year ago. Now, it just looks ridiculous. OTOH, this is what I would expect of a newspaper based in Toronto. The truly sad thing is that the journalist appears to think that he is being controversial when all he is doing is showing disconnected he is from most Canadian voters. I agree: there's no hidden agenda. It's right there for anyone who wishes to see it. Quote
