Well this is sad, none of that actually explains how those policies caused people to pull up stakes and make the trek into the country, nor does it explain the drop in illegal border crossings we've seen in 2024.

The simple reality is the border surge was the result of factors largely out of Biden's control like the backlog post COVID and continued unrest in South America. Increased enforcement by Mexico has put a cork in the bottle, but time will tell if it holds.

You didn't ask me to explain the drop in 2024. That was a result of the reversal of the 2021 policy decisions.

As for the first question, the answer to the second question lends to the logical conclusion that if the original policies are reversed and the border crossings drop, then the policies are the catalyst that enabled the crossings. Why each individual crossed was supposed to be answered by Kamala. She didn't answer.  But, I am sure the individual excuses as to why they violated the law are as diverse as the criminals, themselves.
