Decision to parachute Trudeau's choice into Montreal byelection shocks would-be candidates | National Post

A decision by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to prevent Liberal party members from choosing their own candidate in a byelection in the riding of LaSalle—Émard—Verdun by parachuting in his own choice is not going over well with those who had sought to win the nomination locally.

“It’s 100 per cent anti-democratic,” school commissioner Lori Morrison told La Presse Canadienne.

Morrison said she can’t believe her party let her knock on doors in the riding and sign up new party members only to then refuse to hold a nomination meeting for a byelection that has to be called. The deadline for that move is Tuesday.

She argued that the nomination vote is an important part of the process “because this has been a Liberal bastion for a very, very long time,” she said.

Mr Democracy and freedom strikes again.  I think at this point even people on the left are figuring out he's not a fan of the democratic process at all.

Wonder if he keeps this one?

Trudeau's following the Democrat playbook. Screw the nomination votes.

sadly this has been a problem with the liberal party for a long time. The term parachute candidate and helicopter candidate come from their habit of ignoring the local voters and dropping someone in. Liberal voters seem to tolerate this more than conservative voters.

I think Canada's left instinctively knows the Liberals are too right wing for our democracy's good. The right wing is more about the distribution of power than wealth. Wealth is really just the sprinkles on the icing.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Might as well have been.

@Legato,   That's a thing eyeball likes to do.  You see it pretty frequently.   If someone is beating him in a discussion or he's frustrated because the truth doesn't support him and he's blaming the other person for it - he just 'fake quotes' people.

It's pretty sad.

Your statement. Yes I can see where I misquoted you but you're positively affirming dingle-nuts opinion so...get over yourselves.

Positive affirmation of dingle-nut opinions is the only way to go, especially when you make a statement about the Liberals being to far right. That opinion is dingle dangle wibbly wobbly way to nutty.

LOL - the guy who's so emotionally damaged he has to misquote people regularly because he can't face being wrong wants others to 'get over themselves' :)

Not from where I'm sitting.

Of course around here the right wing is a direction not a place. I'm in pretty good company given half the conservatives hereabouts have also been written off as lefties. They can't keep up I guess.

you just keep repeating the same lies knowing they're lies.

It's beyond dumb to say "right wing is a direction not a place'. It's what losers on the left say.

And not a single conservative here has been 'written off' as a leftie.  Although i sure can't blame them for being ashamed of the left these days.

Your kind has failed and is decline precisely because the truth is beyond you. As this thread has shown.
